Name: Shimizu Ryuu
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Personality: Loner type; cold to most people, seems dangerous; has a sensitive/sweet/caring side but was taught at an early age to never show it; tends to not attack humans, doesn’t drink blood from humans unless necessary; is extremely tough and doesn’t like to take shit from anyone, can turn violent in a millisecond
Bio: Ryuu is the son of two Japanese vampires who are known in the vampire-hunter world as notorious for their stealth. They fit in with human very well, having normal jobs and normal lives. Ryuu is a good example of this – no one even realizes that he is different from everyone else. However, he is extremely cold. At a young age, he was taught to never show his emotions, and thus developed a cold attitude towards practically every living thing imaginable. Around the age of 5, Ryuu moved to America to begin his schooling, and all was great. But then….In his junior year, there was this girl in his class who he was paired with for the entire year. A little PREPPY girl. For now, he’s fuming on the inside, and he cannot believe that he has to work with this little loudmouth. Perhaps… the tides will turn.
Appearance:
He's the one with the gray hair -- definitely looks like a badboy. The one with brown hair is his cousin, but he doesn't go to the same school as Ryuu.
Likes: few things, like animals -- he actually like dogs; taking walks at night; being in solitude/quiet places
Dislikes: many things; like loud and obnoxious people; preps; jocks; pretty much everyone; cats

"Jen, are you serious!? You said 'no' to Brad!? Jen...c'mon. He's the hottest guy as far as football players go. And just think! Dating a football player ALL year!" Jannessa's best friend Jamie blabbed on.
Jannessa sighed and dragged her Biology text book from her locker before slowly shutting it. she was in no mood to deal with stuff like this right now. She had been up all night thanks to her parent's loud mouths. They were fighting again.
"Look, Jame', can we not talk about this right now?" Jannessa pleaded.
Jamie sighed and took one good look at her best friend. "They're fighting again, aren't they?" she asked in a more calm and lower voice.
Jannessa turned and looked at Jamie. "Is it that obvious?"
"Look, we can not have this. Cheer practice is today and we have our first game Friday! You need to get more sleep!"
"How?"
"I don't know! Take a nap when you go home?"
Jannessa just shrugged and hugged her books to her chest, feeling compelled to smile back at hellos from passing class members. She just wished it was Friday night already.

Calmly, Ryuu walked into school with his hands shoved in his pockets and a backpack slung over his shoulder. It was a normal morning for him, and the stares and whispers didn't faze him one bit.
You can all look and stare and call me names... Ryuu thought. And you can make up rumors about me being a ruffian. But you have no idea what you're dealing with, puny humans.
He sighed deeply, his expressionless demeanor remaining on his face. The gray-haired male was already used to this kind of treatment. When he finally made it to his locker and kept whatever stuff he needed for the first half of the day, he turned and sped off into the other hallway for his 1st period Biology class. Word had it that some preppy kids were going to be in his class this year, which somewhat irritated him. It was enough that he had to go to school with these people, but now he had to deal with some loudmouthed children.
However, the moment he turned into the hallway, Ryuu was slammed with the smell of human blood -- depressed human blood. It reeked of salt, rust, and something completely unexplainable. Someone was clearly upset and going through some hard times, but it wasn't Ryuu's concern. As long as he had nothing to do with this person, it would be fine.
Calmly, he entered the Biology classroom. Most of the seats were already taken, except for two of them in the back of the class. That'll have to do... Swiftly, he sat in one of the two seats and placed his books down. The glares he got from the other students was really beginning to bother him, so he crossed him arms and put them on the desk, laying his head on them. Ryuu was tired enough already -- his parents were keeping him up all night due to some kind of argument about their safety or some shit like that. And yes, this vampire sleeps, although he's not entirely sure why. It was probably psychological -- he spent too much time around humans in school.

Jamie snorted at the table next to Jannessa's. "Check out the new guy. Loner much?" said Jamie in a rather snobby way. Jannessa didn't really want to respond to Jamie's sudden attitude towards a new student, but she just looked at him. Gray hair was hard to come by. It was probably in his genes. Suddenly, Jannessa felt curious. She looked away and just rolled her eyes playfully and shook her head at her friend.
Next to Jannessa sat down Brad. He put his arm around her as if she actually did say yes. She rolled her eyes for real and moved forward, indicating she didn't like what he was doing. Ignoring what she did, Brad nodded his head across the room at a random friend. "So, babe, wassup?" asked Brad in a trashed annoying voice.
Jannessa rolled her eyes just as the teacher walked in. Mr. Brown looked at the seating chart before him in his hands, obvious. "I will sit you with your partner before I pass out your assignment. In the past few years, I've had people abuse the privilege of picking their partners, so this time, I will be picking." And with that, the whole class moaned frustratingly.
After Mr. Brown had paired most people together, including Jamie with Brad, there were only a few left. Jannessa was nervous about who she was going to be stuck with for the rest of the year. "Miss Willing? You will be paired off with...Mr. Ryuu. Be a sport and make him feel welcome to our school."
Relieved she wasn't stuck with any of the smelly fat people, she relaxed and grabbed her books, putting her purse on her shoulder as she got up and joined Ryuu at the table he was sitting at. "Hi! I'm Jannessa. Everyone just calls me Jen or whatever," said Jannessa in a friendly attitude.

(( BTW -- Shimizu is his last name... I'm sorta still in anime mode where their names go lastname (Shimizu), firstname(Ryuu) ^^"))
When the boy sitting next to his table wrapped his arm around that girl, Ryuu snarled quietly. Guys like that needed to be pummeled to a pulp. He could tell that girl was annoyed, and when she introduced herself, he could tell the blonde was a prep. Not his style. People were already annoying. Now this?
"The name's Ryuu. Ryuu Shimizu," he said curtly. He could care less if he acted like a jerk -- human emotions didn't haze his demeanor. Then, he smelled a trace of the foul blood again. It was god awful, and it was coming from her. For a moment, he hoped that it wasn't his fault.

(I didn't know that! :o Cool!)
Jannessa could already tell that he didn't want anything to do with her. So she back off and respected his space. For the rest of the period, the only time she would talk to him is about what he thinks they should do for the project and when/where he'd like to do it and get it over and done with. And about a minute before the bell rang, she gathered her things and looked directly at Ryuu. "Look, I don't want to do this this project with a partner any more than you do. Let's just get this done and over with so we won't have to deal with this, 'kay?" she asked as the bell rang and she left.
Jamie hurried after Jannessa. They were headed off to study hall in the library next. "Oh my dear God. You Have to do the project with HIM!? Dude, you'll be stuck with that loner all year!" blabbed on Jamie. Jannessa tried her best to tune out her. She hated when Jamie went on gossiping about things. There was no way to get rid of Jamie though. The two grew up together and they were the only ones who knew each other inside out. It was understandable that they had their moments.

Ryuu was taken slightly aback when Jannessa looked straight at him and said what was on her mind. Most people couldn't even bring themselves to stay within several feet of him. I'll give you some props girlie, but I swear...
Of course, he then realized that the two of them had no method of communicating outside of school fr their projects. Before his next class started, which was English on the second floor, Ryuu sniffed Jannessa out. He found her in the library, so he calmly walked up to her, planning on giving her his number. He also decided that his gaze should be softer in front of the blonde's infuriating friend. When he walked over to her, he tapped her shoulder. As she turned around, Ryuu put on his best charming face, and said, "Look. It was a bad start in class. My bad." His voice was still curt. "Since we need some really frickin' good communication for this project, here's my number." He drew out a tiny piece of paper with his cell number written in fine, black cursive. Smiling slightly, he turned and walked away, raising his right hand as sort of a wave. I hope that was believable...

Jannessa just stood there with the piece of paper with his writing on it before her. Was he for real? She sighed and examined the paper. The number looked real enough. She would test it out later. And if it really was his real number, she would go straight to talking about the project. She already had ideas drawn out, wanting to get this project out of the way as soon as possible.
Jamie choked on her now-cold Starbucks coffee. "Are you actually gonna call him?" asked Jamie, astounded. Jannessa rolled her eyes at Jamie in an obvious way.
"Relax, Jame', I just want this project done and over with so I don't have to deal with him by second semester," said Jannessa.
Wait, did Ryuu actually give an apology?

During Ryuu's English class, he stared out the window in utter boredom. The class was too simple for him. Being from Japan doesn't make he automatically inept with English. I bet I'm better than all these morons combined, even with my accent.
Besides that, he couldn't help but keep thinking about that girl. He could still smell something foul coming from here when he went to the library. I guess it wasn't my fault... He also hoped to God that she didn't take it as an apology. He was trying to be nice in front of Jannessa's friend so that she'd stop pestering the blonde. The moment they're alone and working on that project, he's going to be his normal self.
At least I made a good show. He snickered to himself. Humans are easy to deceive for him; Such a hopeless race.
When class ended and the bell rang, he walked down the stairs to get to his gym class, spotting Jannessa walking directly towards him, probably to get to a class on the second floor or in a classroom he'd already passed. Don't talk to me... Don't talk to me... I can't act like a charming twat all day...

Once Jannessa's French class had ended, she walked down the steps with a few of her usual friends. When she parted with them, she looked ahead and noticed Ryuu. Smiling perfectly, she approached him. "Saturday, Library. I'd say we could hang around my pool, but it'll be raining all day," said Jannessa as she slightly stopped in her path, talking to Ryuu.
Without another word, she gave him a stuck-up look just to throw him off and strutted away, headed down to the band room to practice cheer-leading. She couldn't wait to wear the school's brand new cheer uniforms Friday. She was so excited and no words could scarcely describe that.

As Jannessa left, Ryuu's mouth dropped and he had the most disgusted, infuriated face. Little stuck-up...!! AGH... HUMANS... He slammed his palm to his forehead, wincing. Trying to be nice to her just turned moot! The gray-haired male nearly stormed off into the gym. At least tomorrow was Friday -- that was his least busy day. The only classes he had were English, Biology, and Foreign Language (obviously Japanese) because most of his other classes were honors, and they normally didn't have a Friday class. Ryuu wasn't gifted; no, in his old school, they were just ahead.
He sighed deeply as he walked through the hallway. He decided that could be as much of a jerk as he wanted if that blonde was going to act like that.
When gym ended, it was time for lunch. Of course, Ryuu doesn't exactly eat people food. Instead, he grabbed a book out of the library and escaped to the roof, enjoying the silence. When the breeze picked up and ruffled his hair, the boy smiled genuinely, looking relaxed. Hopefully, no one comes up here...

Jannessa had strutted off with a large, smug smile. Her next had passed by so easily, she could never ask for more. But by the time the bell for lunch sounded, her cell phone vibrated furiously. She looked at the caller ID to see it her mother. She sighed and opened it as she walked down the hallway.
"What?" she answered as she walked towards the stairs that led down to the first floor for lunch.
"Honey...your father and I have decided on something," her mother said.
Jannessa stopped before the door that led up to the roof. Getting the feeling she'd have to talk about this in private, she looked around for staff and escaped up to the roof. As soon as she opened the door to the roof, she let out a big sigh. "You don't have to tell me. I already know what it is. You and Daddy are getting a divorce. Simple as that, right?"
Her mother was speechless for a moment. "How did you--"
"Oh don't play dumb with me! Do you think I'm def? I can hear you and Daddy screaming at each other in the kitchen all the way up the third floor! Thanks to you, I've lost so many hours of sleep and I apparently don't look punctual for tomorrow's game!"
Jannessa was pacing back and forth, oblivious to Ryuu. She was too angry to focus on or notice anything. "Well...now that that's been said, you're father will be moving out. We're going to file for the divorce Saturday."
"So soon?" Jannessa stopped in her track and walked over to the edge, looking down at the world. Without another word, she slammed her phone shut and threw it in her purse.

Ryuu's eyes snapped open when the door to the roof opened. He never thought that someone else would come up here. And when he saw Jannessa yelling into her phone about divorce, his eyes bulged out. J-Jannessa...? He was floored as he listened to her.
No sleep?
Fighting?
It sounded vaguely like what had been happening at his house, just on a must lesser scale. If he wasn't getting sleep because of his parents, he couldn't even imagine what the blonde was going through.
Hiding my emotions? Ha, screw you, mom. If I wanna care, I'm gonna care.
Ryuu's face softened, eyes shadowed with concern. Quietly, he stood up and leaned against the wall, crossing his arms, observing the girl. She was distraught, and perhaps Ryuu wasn't the best person to try to calm her down, especially if she was mad. If Jan was really furious, she'd probably end up punching or slapping him.
Instead, he still walked forward a few steps and called out, "Jannessa?" Then as she turned around, he swiftly walked forward until they were several feet apart. "Are you... okay? Do you need help with.. something... I don't know..."

She turned around and looked depressingly at the cracks in the floor. Suddenly, she was shocked at the sudden attention she was getting by the new guy, this...Ryuu...who appeared out of nowhere (or so she thought), she put her hand to her forehead and shook her head. "I'm...I'm fine. Just...did you hear that whole conversation?" she asked, suddenly embarrassed at her behavior as her cheeks turned red and she nervously tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. She didn't feel like the perfect prep everyone saw her as right now. Here she was, standing before this one guy who she was no unsure if he was naturally mean or naturally nice...or if it was some sort of defense.

Ryuu's gaze softened even further, looking clearly distressed. His nose wrinkled slightly at the smell of her blood -- it was worse than before. "Yeah... I heard it all. I was sitting over there." He pointed to where he sat. Then, he looked back at Jannessa and sighed, shoving his hands in his pockets. "I'm sorry that I overheard your... conversation," he said quietly. "I don't know anything about divorce or shit like that, but trust me, my parents fight all the time about, um, different matters. I can get where your frustration comes from." Perhaps Ryuu's frustration was not the same as the blonde's, but he felt like he really needed to help her somehow. The gray-haired boy exhaled deeply, looking the other way emotionlessly. "I know that I'm not exactly your image of a dependable guy, but still. Feel free to use that number for anything and everything. I don't care if you just need to scream at someone. Call me, scream at me; don't scream at one of your friends or your parents." Ryuu's voice was curt, but caring. Somehow, this whole incident made him lower his "tough-guy, emotionless-guy" defense barriers. And he hoped... that Jannessa would really listen to him and try to disregard how cold he was before.

Jannessa listened close to everything Ryuu was saying. She looked up at him and gave him a small and soft smile, carefully taking his words into consideration. "Thank you...it really means a lot," she said as she looked deep into his eyes, shocked to find the unnatural color of them. The bell that meant that the four minuets between class was over sounded as she looked towards the door. She looked back at Ryuu and motioned her head towards the door. "I better head to lunch before they start to wander where I am...like they'd care...so I'll see you around," she said in a small but friendly voice. She gave him a big smile before she turned around and headed out the door.
She carefully entered the hallway and hurried into the lunchroom where everyone was already seated. She found her usual table right smack in the middle of the room. She sat down at her usual seat as Jamie was the first to notice her sudden appearence. "Where were you? Brad was asking for you."
Luckily, Brad had lunch the next period, so she didn't have to worry about dealing with him at lunch. She shrugged and eyed her friend Jamie. "My stomach's bothering me. So I was delayed in the bathroom," was all Jannessa could think of saying as she took out her plastic sandwich box from her purse and then took out the ham, cheese, mayo, and lettuce sandwich. She got up and went to one of the vending machines and picked out a can of Sprite.

Ryuu sighed as the girl rushed back to lunch. He knew that there wasn't a place for him there, so he stayed on the roof and read his book. After several minutes, he shook violently and dropped the book, his eyes bulging. She.. She looked straight into my eyes. They're not their natural color because I haven't hunted in a while. Shit... I hope she's not smart enough to do research about it...
As the day progressed, Ryuu's worries lessened. He didn't think she'd even try to connect the dots anyway. At the end of the day, the gray-haired boy started to walk home. There was no need to take a bus since he was right around the corner. He hadn't met his neighbors yet, and he'd probably see them as he walked inside, so he decided on walking slower, just stall a bit. I don't really want to meet them. I swear, they were yelling too loudly. Or perhaps my hearing is just too good. Ryuu sighed, pulling out his phone and wondering if he made the right choice by giving Jannessa his number.

When Jannessa decided to be excused from cheer practice today due to a sudden heavy headache, she headed straight home. She walked up the steps of her porch steps when her mother came out, her hands on her hips. "Your father wanted to say goodbye to you, but he had to get back to work. So he wants to have dinner with you sometime," her mother told her.
Jannessa froze and sighed. "Alright," was all she said.
Before her mother went inside, her mother stopped and looked at her. "Why aren't you at cheer practice?"
Jannessa dropped her book bag to her feet and crossed her arms in an insecure way. "I'm really tired and I have a lot of homework to do. The coach excused me," Jannessa answered.
Her mother just nodded and went inside. Before Jannessa went in after her mother, she just staid their for a moment, needing to gather herself together. What she wouldn't give to burst at her own mother...it took all the strength she had to hold her tongue.

The spiky-haired male sighed and put his phone away, continuing on his walk home. It was just around the corner. "Humans.... I'll never underst -- ...Oh, COME ON," Ryuu suddenly groaned, laying his eyes on the blonde once again. She lived right. Next. Door. Forget the number, she'd probably just come rushing through the door to yell and vent instead of calling him. Once again, she looked troubled, like someone had almost slapped her in the face and she was just trying not to explode. The smell of putrid blood invaded his nose again, so he just had to help her out.
"Jannessa," he sighed, walking forward until he was standing at the sidewalk in front of her house. "You look like you're about to blow up. Time to vent?" He pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to understand why he was even doing all of this. His parents would definitely not be happy about him actions, but oh well.

Jannessa jumped and turned around, her hand on her fast-beating heart. "Jesus, you scared me!" she hissed as she looked down at Ryuu. "What are you doing here?" she then asked. Oh no...he probably lives in the neighborhood, she thought to herself. "Yeah...sure. Just let me drop my stuff off in the house and we...could go for a walk?"
Even thought the sky was quickly becoming encovered in deep dark clouds, showing that a heavy storm was on its way. She wanted to talk anywhere but at home or at school, so this was the perfect opportunity to go on a walk with him...get to actually talk to someone who won't gossip after her. Someone who might actually just want to help her out, from the looks of it.

Ryuu ran a hand through his hair and chuckled lightly, a very rare thing for him indeed. "Sorry, sorry. I live right next door so..." He rambled quietly for a bit and then looked at Jannessa, nodding. "Let's go for a walk. Perhaps, you'll feel better?" He smiled at Jannessa and then turned to the side, leaning against her mailbox. "Take your time and inside and everything. I'll wait here. If it starts to rain, we'll go home. Maybe to my house instead? It doesn't look like you want to spend any quality time with your mother." Silently, he sat down crossed-legged, still leaning against her mailbox, looking up at the sky. It looks... like it's going to rain soon.

Jannessa cautiously opened her front door. The sound of running shower told Jannessa that her mother was getting a shower. So Jannessa hurried up to her room and dumped her cheer bag on her bed along with her book bag and her purse. She quickly changed out of her jean skirt and into a pair of gray sweats she bought from Kennywood. She pulled off her layered camisoles and pulled a tee shirt with the school's mascot on the front over her head. She pulled her curled hair up into a pony tale as she slipped her feet into her tennis shoes. Before she knew it, She grabbed her old black jacket and buried her cell phone in her pocket. She hurried down the stairs and out to the porch where she saw Ryuu was still standing there, she she last left him.
"Oh goody. You're still here," she joked in a jokingly flat voice. She looked up at the darkening sky. It's definitely going to rain soon, she thought as she pulled on her jacket and walked up to Ryuu. "Where do you wanna walk to? Since you're new here, you haven't been to the local park, have you?" she asked.

When Jannessa returned outside, Ryuu looked at her slightly in shock. Normal clothes, eh, prep girl? He blinked a few times before raising his hand to his face and sighing. "It doesn't matter where I have or have not been. Let's go to some place that makes you comfortable." He stood up, crossing his arms and looking at the blonde's eyes. It's not just her blood that's putrid... Her eyes are sharing the same fate. Then, he looked at himself for a moment. He was only dressed in a t-shirt and jeans, pretty much. Not the best for rainy weather, but fine nonetheless. Although he could have taken some sunglasses from home -- the sun was bothering him greatly. "Well then, shall we?" The gray-haired vampire held his hand out to the girl, tilting his head slightly.

"The park it is. Whenever I need to get out of the house, I go there. Hardly anyone goes there being that there's legitimately nothing exciting about it," she said as she then looked down at his extended hand. Not sure what to do, she just decided to trust her instincts. She hesitated as she slowly extended her hand out to Ryuu. She froze for a minute. Was this really what he meant? She put her hand in his and just trusted him. "We...shall."
With the very touch of his skin, it sent an electric shock through her, like touching a blown-up balloon after you rub it against the carpet. Her natural reaction would be taking her hand back, but she didn't. She felt as if she couldn't tear her hand away from his. She liked it. A lot.
