Selling items isn't always the best way for getting gold because you only get back half of what it's worth. xD
If you're already strapped on gold, the best way is to just keep posting and/or keep playing games.

I have gotten a decent amount of gold because I sold items I didn't particularly care for, which were initially sorta expensive. However, that doesn't always happen so...I wouldn't rely on the sell-back method as a means for getting gold.
