The last books I bought at a bookstore were text books. I'm too cheap to pay full price for almost any book. Instead I like to buy them secondhand at Goodwill. The last ones I got were My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult and a few V.C. Andrews books. I pick up pretty much anything that looks moderately interesting since paperbacks are only 50 cents. The only downside to Goodwill is that the supply is random.
If I want a specific book, I'll get it through a book trading website I belong to (you get a credit for sending someone else a book and you can order a different book with your credit). The website is also a good way to get rid of books that I didn't like, that someone else is interested in. The most recent books I got from the website were Volumes 1 and 2 of the Full Metal Panic manga.
This topic is really making me think about just how cheap I am. The last time I treated myself to a brand new book that I didn't need for class was...well over a year ago.

Mistress of The Revolution by Catherine Delors
When We Were Gods by Colin Falconer
I just went to Borders the other day and wondered the shelves looking for new historical fiction and this is what I came up with. The Delors book is about Gabrielle de Montserrat in the court of Versailles at the time of the Louis the Sixteenth and Marie Antoinette so that should be intense.
The second is about Cleopatra. I've never read a historical fiction that took place in ancient Egypt so this should be fun and new for me.
I have run out of books on Tudor England to buy and i think I've read everything directly about Marie Antoinette or Mary Queen of Scotts.

Hm. The last book I bought, not a series yet, was called Emmy and the Incredible Shrinking Rat. I've read it, and I found it quite interesting. It's about a rat that's very rude, and bites people. But when he bites them, they begin to understand rat dialect. (How wierd is that? owO) And on the second bite, dare he, they shrink. Down to the size of a Barbie doll.
It was a very strange book.

Patricia Briggs is my favorite author, too. For more reasons than just her writing.
Who is Wolf's Call by? That sounds interesting.

EEP! The last time I bought a book I didn't just buy one, I bought 32 ( it was at a used book sale).
Right now I'm reading The graveyard book by Neil Gaiman, it's about a boy who is raised by ghosts.
I suppose I could list all 32?

Last book I bought... must have been a text book I wanna say it was a set of plays. As for reading books I think it might have been Acorna the Unicorn Girl (Anne McCaffrey and Margaret Ball). Wasn't a bad read over all but it had its moments when you could tell it was getting preachy at you.
juniper- Just think about all the books you have bought over just one new ones.
I love buying book second hand as they almost are like treasures with what occasionally you find in them.

Just today I bought myself The Hounds of the Morrigan by Pat O'Shea, The Vampire Armand by Anne Rice, and a collection of Russian fairy tales compiled by Aleksander Afanas'ev.
Been wanting to read The Hounds of the Morrigan since fifth grade, and seeing it randomly today jogged my memory. Anne Rice is one of my favorite authors, so I trust that the Vampire Armand will be fabulous. And I enjoy fokelore, as well as Russian culture, hence the book of Russian fairy tales.
