Ok now, let's go back in time about twenty years to the regular eight bit Nintendo system. Let's go back to a time when games were ridiculously difficult to the point some of us threw our controllers and cursed out the games or the enemies that gave us grief. Remember a game called Ghost and Goblins, it was probably the most frustrating game I had ever played, two hits and your dead. You have your armour and if you get hit, then the armour comes off and poor Author is left in nothing but a diaper made of rags, then if you get hit you turn into a pile of bones. The game was a good versus evil kind of game where you played as a knight named Author who was out on a picnic with his lady friend until an evil gargoyle decided to abduct her and take her back to Satan who is depicted as this two faced over sized monster. So you rack your brain trying to overcome miscellaneous obstacles that will block and try to prevent your progress to each stage. The weapons you get all have their draw backs but the javelins they start you out with are fairly powerful and well-balanced. The object is to get to Satan and defeat him. When you finally get to the end you are like "Hell yea! Victory!" but nnnnoooooooo it's not like that. You find out it was an illusion fabricated by the devil and then as if it wasn't hard enough you have to go through the game a second time and it's more difficult making it personal!! This game really pissed me off but it felt good to know that I had the perseverance to pull through.

I remember that game! Ughh! It really upset me that I had to quit and take long breaks. I finally got to the end and when I finally beat it once and I saw I had to get to the end again. I was not a happy camper, but I finally beat the second time around and yes, it was much much more challenging to say it nicely. I don't know why they made games that difficult, I guess they really liked pissing gamers off for whatever reason may be.

Well when I played it at the time I was ten years old, and there weren't that many other games to play at the time on the Nintendo other than Super Mario Brothers, Duck Hunt, Gum Shoe, or Ghost & Goblins...woo hoo!!

Whoa, flashback. Cole_Locke! :)

This game brought back fond (and frustrating) memories. I was never really good at side scrollers, but I liked 'em.

Side scrollers are definitely more difficult especially if they are automatically scrolling like in Super Mario Brothers Three where on some boards it does that. This game really pissed me off quite a bit and I'm glad I beat it and I will never play it again. Although I did like Super Ghouls and Ghost for the Super Nintendo.
