Eyes stared out from the darkest corner of the tavern called Dragon's Cave Tavern; golden and dark, the eyes pierced every customer with a steady, knowing, gaze. Every time the eyes settled on a person, the person would tense and an unease would come into their mind. Throughout the tavern, an awkward atmosphere reigned in a haze as the golden eyes never blinked. Just staring. Staring as if reaching into the darkest secrets of the persons being. The figure to whom the eyes belonged never twitched, and never seemed to breathe. Just sat and stared. Staring and waiting until finally the golden eyes rested on the taverns door as if… surprised? Angered? Joyed?
-------------------------------------------------
Walking out of the oak forest, a tall figure with twin swords crossed on the back and matching long knives on the thighs, faced the ocean and breathed in the fresh ocean breeze. Dressed in green pants, and top, so dark they almost appeared black with a chocolate brown corset and belt, Aryxia stretched her arms high above her head and gave a satisfied sigh of relief and settled her hands on her hips, rocking on her heels. Green eyes flashed with joy as she stared at the ocean and, through the clear water, watched the most colorful and bright coral reefs teaming with life and myriad breeds of fish on the whitest of white sands. The setting sun gave a reddish-orange ting to the clear view and the ocean-side bluff made of black volcanic rock was suddenly drowned in a demonic look. Shivering Aryxia stared at the bluff and was amazed at the crude erosion that had taken place through the long years of weathering and how contrasting it was to the gentle beauty of the ocean itself. After staring for several long moments, Aryxia resumed her walk and headed towards the Dragon's Cave Tavern.
Upon arrival to the door of the fiercely named tavern Aryxia momentarily hesitated and fought an internal mental battle. Bitting the thumb of her left hand, she flipped her long brunette hair over her shoulder to her back and sighed. Again. Pacing back and forth her black knee length boots, with three buckles at the top and thin silver chains sporadically wrapped around from the bottom buckle down to the ankles, clicked on the few loose cobblestones left remaining in the front. Go inside and just see if he's there. You've spent the better part of a year tracking him. But what if he's not? That's just another trip wasted (though the view is great… mostly). On and on the internal battle waged. Finally, Aryxia gave herself a mental push and walked up to the tavern door and walked inside. Finally entering the dark tavern and waited as her eyes adjusted to the yellow lamplit glow.

In the opposite dark corner, close to be completely under the set of stairs that the customers of the tavern would have to use to get to their rooms, sat another. Although he did not look it, with his smooth, unblemished browned skin and long thick hair the color of dark chocolate, the man was long past his fiftieth year. He was not drinking, or eating. Except for the slight movement of turning a worn page in the book he was concentrating on, he did not move. He was not concerned with what was happening around him, but occasionally, his silver eyes would dart upward and scan over the room; a slight smirk always seemed to be playing at his dark lips, as if he were holding back a laugh.
He sat at a slight angle, trying not to cast a shadow on the pages of the book he was trying to read. His pale eyes strained trying to make out the tiny script but he finally gave up; the light was too dim and his eyes were too old. If the circumstances had been more to his favor, he could have easily taken care of renewing his old, worn eyes. Unfortunately, he was in a room filled with people and he didn't want to draw unnecessary attention to himself.
He wouldn't have even chosen this tavern, but again, things were not in his favor and he found himself with only a few small coins in his leather pouch. He'd had only enough to afford a room here for a night, nothing more. He even hadn't been able to afford a candle for his room, and already the dusk light had set his room into complete darkness. An aggravated sigh escaped his dark lips.
His silver eyes moved upward again, lazily scanning the room just as a young woman entered the tavern. After a few minutes, he realized that she was alone, and he was struck by the strangeness of this. What is she doing alone? he thought to himself. This isn't the sort of place that a young girl should be in, especially alone.
"Of all people, why are you here in this place? Perhaps you should answer that question first,"a smooth, young voice asked. The young voice chuckled and there was a flash of movement out of the corner of his eyes. The man jumped to his feet, so startled by the apparition that he knocked the table out from under him, sending it crashing to the floor. A sickening silence followed, as the other customers turned to see what had caused the disturbance. Flustered, the man quickly righted the table and sat back down, turning his face away from the others in the room.
After a few moments, the crowded room gained its usual dull roar of laughing and chattering voices and the man gained the courage to glance over again. His eyes again scanned over the rowdy patrons back to the young woman who'd just entered. It was obvious to him that she, like himself, was not from the area and had traveled a great way. She looked tired, but held herself strong. He smirked. She's definitely got a strong spirit, he thought.
[[OOC:: Wow... okay, I hope this is okay, Alaunt. I realize I've yet to say his name, but he does have one. ^^ And the last paragraph there with the apparition will also be explained. ^^ Anyways, hope this is okay.]]

Once her eyes finished adjusting, Aryxia began walking in when suddenly there was a loud crashing noise from the back of the tavern main room and the silence brought forth was an eerie silence. Snapping her head sideways Aryxia stared at the man with curiosity and noticed that the man seemed to be a bit strange. When he sat back down, Aryxia stared for a few moments more and finally resumed her walk inside. Well, that was strange. Wonder what happened to him. Maybe he has acrophobia and a spider crawled on him. Chuckling at the thought, Aryxia headed towards the main bar where the bartender stood, whipping down the used, and now clean, glasses with a towel.
Sitting down on one of the stools towards the front, she caught the glance of the bartender and raised her hand, indicating she wanted a glass to drink. While waiting for the small shot glass to be poured and put in front of her, Aryxia felt several pairs of eyes staring at her. Tensing, she shifted uncomfortably and glanced in the mirror behind the bar to see if she could spot who was staring. Not seeing anyone she looked over her shoulder and scanned the room finally pinpointing the two separate pairs of eyes.
The first pair belonged to the man who had cause the disturbance only a few minutes earlier. He seemed to be a bit older than he looked, but Aryxia wasn't one to judge. Much. Staring back at him, she narrowed her eyes and tilted her head to a slight angle, analyzing him with curiosity and pure disinterest. Seems kind of an odd man. His clothing as clearly seen better days. Hmm. A book. So I guess he is also one of the intellectual types. Or he could just be bored. Eh, whatever. Sniffing and wiggling her nose she took a breath and moved on, dismissing the man with the gesture.
Aryxia's eyes continued their searching path for the second pair of eyes and finally landed on the golden pair. A low but sharp breath could be heard from that corner as Aryxia's eyes widened in recognition and finally narrowed in a glare. She took the shot glass the was set in front of her and gulped it down in one swallow. Pulling her lip back in a grimace a the sharp and stinging taste, she gritted her teeth and put the glass back on the table with a snap. Licking her lip Aryxia began walking towards the darkest corner and the mysterious golden eyes and when only ten feet away, her pace quickened. Her mouth thinned into a flat line, while her cheek bones became more pronounced, and her eyebrows twitched with annoyance and anger. "Why you little . . . " And she reached into the darkness and the figure.
[Oh, can you send what is available about your character to Strav so that he can put together your character profile?
EDIT: Sorry, but I tried editing in a bit more. Don't know how successful I was though.]

Unable to help himself, the man found himself watching the young woman as she sat down at bar and ordered a drink. She seemed so out of place, a young girl ordering a drink in a tavern. Despite himself, he found himself fascinated by this young woman. It wasn't that he was attracted to her, though she was very pretty, but more that he saw himself somewhat in her. An unlikely traveler and customer in this tavern. Unlike all the other patrons, he felt a connection with this woman. Perhaps I should go over and sit with her at the bar... it would seem more natural to order a drink, he thought.
He was about to stand and make his way towards the bar when she stood up herself. He paused, startled, believing she was coming towards him. When she didn't head towards him, the man's brow furrowed and he stared after her as she headed towards the other dark corner. What is she doing...?

The golden eyes widened in shock and cringed backward as Aryxia's hand reached into the darkened corner. Oh crap. And a loud scuffling could be heard as the figure tried to scuttle backwards and away from Aryxia's 'imposing' and angered form. And as Aryxia's hand connected with the figures neck, a high pitched yelp could be heard throughout the tavern.
-------------------------------------------------
"Oh no you don't!" Snapping her hand forward Aryxia's hand connected with a furred neck and she yanked. Out from the shadowed corner came a large timber wolf with golden eyes. The timber wolf stared at Aryxia and slightly bared it's fangs. "I've been looking all over for you you good for nothing two-bit useless flea-infested bag of meat!" She gritted out of her teeth and a second after she flung her arms out and around the scruff of the large wolf. Aryxia kissing the muzzle and rubbing her face into the neck and fell onto her rump as the wolf worked it's way into sitting on top of her legs.
The rest of the tavern looked up at the whole debacle that had taken place and their eyes widened in fear as the sight of the large wolf appeared. Several scooted their chairs sideways in order to keep the predator in their sights while others just moved to the other side of the tavern.
[I hope that this is enough . . . ]

The man's eyes widened when he saw the beast. Pain and fear and anger pulled at his heart, and drove him into action. He leapt forward. A cry escaped through his dark lips, making him sound like some sort of mad man. Reaching the young girl, he grabbed her wrists roughly (inevitably pulling her grip away from the wolf) and spun her around to face him.
"What do you think you're doing?" he roared at her, unable to control his anger with her. To most watching, they would assume he was worried with the girl for trying to face such a beast alone- in truth, he was more concerned for the wolf than her.

Now for my belated reply. >.< I hope this is enough . . . There wasn't much dialogue to reply to.
Aryxia yelped as she felt her wrists grabbed in a tight and painful grip and she struggled to be released. Eyes widening as she recognized the man from earlier, she leaned forward and bit at his arms to force him to release her. "Let me go, you creep!" She growled as she kicked at him. Connecting with his knees and abdomen, Aryxia's powerful kicks would make the mans grip loosen. Twisting her wrists, she managed to get some leverage.
The large wolf growled and took a fighting stance with his hackles raised menacingly. His eyes aimed at the man who dared to lay hands forcefully on Aryxia.

Immediately, the man released the girl. He did not fall to the ground, but clutched his side gasping. Tears stung at his eyes and the room seemed to blur and spin a bit. He grabbed a near by table, trying to support himself. Again, the apparition appeared, but this time he stood beside the young woman. The ghost smiled a sickly sweet grin and his eyes twinkled, as if he were laughing. 'Got yourself into trouble again, Rae,' he said to the man.
The man, Rae, put his hand up, as if reaching for someone, but the ghost had vanished as soon as he'd appeared. His lips parted and closed a few times, before he spoke. "I'm sorry... I was just... trying to protect...the wolf..." he moaned mournfully. He sank to his knees, too dizzy to keep standing.
