Do you volunteer? -- If not, what's stopping you? If so, where/doing what?
Do you enjoy volunteer work?
For someone who hasn't done a lot of volunteering, what would you recommend as a starting point?
What are the benefits from volunteering?

I haven't done much volunteering in the past few years--at least nothing for charity. But I used to to tutoring for kids at a homeless shelter, and occasionally I would get with some of my friends at one of the local churches (of which I was not a part) to help clean up local parks, or bake/cook food for holiday meals at homeless shelters.

It was very rewarding, and I love to help where I can, but I'd honestly rather work to help people--than give them money. Money feels so empty to me. >__<

I'd also like to give time to an animal shelter--but sadly I have very bad allergies, so I can't. :(

I actually just started searching for places where I can volunteer. I have always had so much to give, but either my illness was stopping me or my mental state, so it was my top priority to get myself better before helping someone else get better. Now that I feel everything is in place, I'm finally going to try and help the community! The best place for me to volunteer would be at an animal shelter, as it breaks my heart every Summer when those awareness ads show up and the stats for how many animals get killed by cars because they're home pets left by their family when they're on vacation...

Unfortunately, the only volunteering campaign I've seen at my college was today, but the only way to volunteer was to pay for animal neutering because of so many dogs and cats breeding and all that comes with it, and I'm not willing to pay for neutering if I don't even do it to my own dogs. I want to nurture them, pet them, feed them, bathe them, be there for them, not give money away.

I used to volunteer when I lived a=in a big city in teh States. But Now I moved to the country. Here there aren't many things to do for Volunteer. And with work and college I rarely have time for ME... I wish I could and I donate blood and what not...
