The Beauties and the Beasts
My character
Name: Kiaralyn (Kiara, Kia or Lyn for short)
Age: same as Belle
Appearance: Pretty much like Belle but her hair is a bit darker and her eyes are green. She also prefers to wear a darker shade of blue to Belle's lighter shade of blue.
-o0o-
Let the RP.....BEGIN!!!!!!!
Kiaralyn woke slowly and stretched out, yawning as she sat up in bed. The sun was barely over the horizon and she was up. She rubbed her eyes to get rid of the lingering sleep and removed the covers and swung her feet down to the bare wooden floor. She walked accross the room to her sister and shook her gently.
"Belle," she called softly. "Time to get up. We need to return those books and get some bread from the market."
By the time she was finished talking she was already moving over to her clothes chest and was pulling out her usual dark blue and white outfit.

Belle stirred a little bit, "Alright... I'm up." She said sleepily. She slowly pushed the covers up and sat up, stretching her arms above her head, causing her back to pop a little bit.
She brought her arms back down and got out of bed, making her way over to her drawer of clothes and pullin at what she would need.
Belle changed out of her nightgown and put on a white thin dress, and then a slightly heavier sky blue dress over it. She grabbed her brush and started to brush her hair, then she pulled it back and tied it with a matching bow

Kiaralyn quickly dressed, slipped on her shoes and tied her hair up in a high ponytail with a dark blue ribon. She made her way quietly downstairs ahead of Belle and found taht their father was already hard at work on his latest invention. Deciding not to disturb him she quickly grabbed two small baskets, one for her and one for Belle, and called up the stairs for her sister to bring down the books.
The sooner they were in the village the sooner they could be out again. She hated it. It was all so...repetitive and dull! Nothing interesting ever happened and whenever they did go into the village Belle was always hit on by that oaf Gaston. You'd think he'd get the hint by now that Belle wasn't interested but, of course, someone like that wouldn't notice the subtle hints that Belle was giving him. Belle really was too nice sometimes for her own good.

Belle grabbed the stacks of books off the shelf and made her way downstiars, putting half the stack into one basket and the other half into the other. She felt the same way about town as her sister did, but she knew that it was just the way that everything worked... Still though... She wanted to do something with her life, she wanted to make a difference in someone's life.... But who was she kidding? When would that ever happen in a small town like this?
She grabbed one of the baskets, "Alright.. Let's go."

Kiaralyn sighed with annoyance as they approached town. It was the same old routine as the last time they'd come into town. The baker was selling his bread and rolls (which all smelled amazing admitedly), the village gossips were gossiping and everything seemed to be going along the same as it did every morning.
"Why does this town even have a bookstore?" she questioned her sister as they passed a group of people. "I mean, hardly anyone here actually enjoys reading anymore. Sometimes I think we're the only ones that can appreciate a good book." Her eyes flicked to three blonde girls wearing identical dresses, just in different colours, who were huddled together talking.

Belle shrugged a little, "Well... Maybe we need to try and show them the importance of reading." She took out one of the books, "Like this one for example... It teaches the reader how to really treat a person... Even if they look a little different."

"Maybe..." Kiaralyn replied. "But somehow I doubt it. Come on." She quickly put the book back in Belle's basket and grabbed her sister's free hand. "The sooner we buy the bread and return the books the sooner we can leave and, hopefully, not run into that giant oaf." She was talking about Gaston of course. She couldn't stand the creep.

At the mention of Gaston Belle seemed to pick up her pace incredibly, almost jogging to the bookstore. She could not Gaston, he thought he was the most charming and sexiest man alive when in reality... He was just plain gross.. She couldn't stand how he practically threw himself at her... She thought it was rather pathetic

They reached the bookstore in record time (considering they were all but running) and as they entered Kiaralyn grinned at the old shop keeper.
"Good morning!" she called to him as she walked over to the front desk and began to empty her books. She grabbed Belle's basket quickly and did the same. They'd gotten through the books quicker than usual. Kiaralyn thought that they'd at least last two weeks but in reality they'd barely lasted over one week.
"How's business going?" she asked the old shop keeper, beginning to browse the shelves in case he'd gotten anything new in since last week. It was doubtful but there was no harm in looking.

He began to talk about how the shop was only doing as well as it did because Belle and Kia come in here constantly to check out books.
Belle skimmed the books as well, finding one that she wanted to read again and she picked it up, "I'd like to check this one out again if it's alright."

Kiaralyn wondered about the shop for a little while longer than Belle, carefully searching all the different shelves before seeing a book that caught her eye.
It was a list of myths and legends with the the second half of the book dedicated to all the different kinds of mythical creatures. She almost snatched it off the shelf and flicked through it, looking at the different pictures and diagrams of the creatures in question before walking over to the shop keeper.
"I'd like this one," she said eagerly, her eyes bright as she stared at the dark green coloured book.

He nodded, "Alright then."
Belle walked over, "And I would like to borrow this one again."
He looked at the book she held and chuckled lightly, "Again Belle? That's the third time you've picked that book up."
Belle smiled, "I know.. But it's just such a captivating book... Battles against good and evil, fighting for love.." She sighed lightly.
Whole the shopkeeper wrote down the title of Kia's book and her name he smiled, "Well.. If you like it that much then it's yours!"
"Oh I couldn't do that!"
But his mind was made up and he would not hear any more of it

Before long they were out of the shop and heading back to their little house away from the village. Kiaralyn already had her nose burried in the pages of her book, reading a particular myth about a sea dragon and a siren from the west coast. The book made all the legends come alive and she couldn't resist getting sucked in.
She heard a shot boom through the air and her head jerked up to see a bird falling to the ground. She frowned, already guessing what that meant.
"We'd better pick up the pace," she muttered to Belle. "I think big, annoying and ignorant is around and he's heading this way."

Belle held her book close to her, so happy that the shop owner had given it to her. When she heard the loud bang of a gun she jumped, and when she saw the bird fall she sighed, "Great.." She picked up her pace and started to quickly walk a different direction, hoping to get away before Gaston noticed her

Kiaralyn hurried alongside Belle as they tried to reach the boundaries of the village. If they could just get to the last house without running into that insufferable idiot then she would considder the daya complete success.
"Come on, come on," she muttered under her breath as it seemed like more and more people were poaring into the streets. If she didn't know any better she would say that they were blocking their way on purpose.
"Oh Belle!" came a clear, loud and annoying voice from behind.
Kiaralyn cursed internally as she recognised that voice.
"Here it comes," she muttered to Belle.

Belle stopped walking and sighed, "Dang..." She closed her eyes and then turned around and opened them to see Gaston marching his way through the crowd. She turned to Kia, "Go on ahead... I'll catch up with you later."

"Are you sure?" Kiaralyn asked worriedly. She glanced meaningfully at the smug look on Gaston's face. "I can stay if you want me to..."
She inwardly groaned as she saw Gaston's little lap dog trailing behind him with a sack over one shoulder, no doubt containing Gaston's latest 'prize'. The little toad got on her nerves almost as much as Gaston.

Belle chuckled lightly, "I'm sure... I'll be there as soon as I get rid of him." She shooed her away playfully, knowing how much she despised Gaston and everything or everyone around him.
He was considered to be the town's God.... More like the town's idiot if anything else.
Belle didn't like to talk to him but she would put up with it for now

"Alright..." Kiaralyn said tentitively before turning and quickly moving through the crowds of people and towards the baker. She picked up a loaf of bread and made her way back up the road to the house which they shared with their father. He was an inventor and, though many thought he was crazy and a fool, she and Belle believed in him. He was different, like they were, and that was nothing to be ashamed of. She heard noises coming from the basement but nothing unusual so far so she hurried up to her room and stowed her new book away on the nearest shelf to her bed.
It was then that she heard it, the explosion coming from the cellar. She fergot all about her book and ran down the stairs two at a time as smoke drifted past the windows. Finally she burst out the front door and ran around to the cellar door.

Belle had run home too when she heard the explosion, she went behind Kia, "Get it open!" She helped her sister to open the door and they were immediately hit with thick black smoke.
Belle coughed and tried to wave it out of her face, "Papa? Papa are you alright??"

Wrenching open the cellar doors was not as easy as Kiaralyn would have liked. Finally, to her relief, they came free and a large cloud of smokey air burst upwards. She heard Belle calling for their father but before she could jump down into the basement to find him she saw a shape coming towards them. She gasped in relief as their father stumbled out of the cellar, coughing heavily.

Belle sighed with relief as she helped her father out of the cellar, he was mumbling angrily about how something must have been loose and what a darn contraption it was.
Belle sighed lightly and glanced at Kia with a smirk

Kiaralyn smirked back at Belle. They both knew what their father was like. When he got like this all he needed was a little encouragement.
"Come on," Kiaralyn drawled. "You know that you'll never do that. You're an inventor, you're just not built to give up on something like this, right Belle?"

They made their way into the cellar and he started to look over the machine to try and find what went wrong

Kia looked over the machine. She winced slightly as she saw the axe that was suposed to come down to chop some wood. She hoped that their father didn't get in the way of the axe as it came down.
He quickly made his way under the machine and began to tinker with it.
"And that's everything back to normal," Kia commented as she stared at their father's eet which poked out from under the machine.
