I like all four of these styles of romantic books, but my favorite by far is always going to be paranormal. I like tales of vampires, were animals, time travel, futuristic planets and paranormal powers. They always catch my interest more, though I like to switch to the other styles now and then to mix things up and what not. However I don't like suspense very much, even though I like mystery novels. I don't know why, because I like the action, maybe it's just the way things in suspense are staged, with the main female character more often than not in trouble or being stalked or some such and the 'big bad boy' coming to her rescue and all that. Women don't need to always rely on men to survive things like that. Maybe a guy should get stalked by a killer and a female cop comes to his rescue? I don't think I've seen a suspense romance like that yet.

So the question is which style do you like best, and why? Which one do you like least, and why?

What about fantasy... There is a point where fantasy doesn't equal paranormal.

I don't have a favorite.
I'm not a fan of contemporary novels to start so I guess those are out.
Umm... I don't know, I read a lot of novels at are historical/fantasy/romance.
Suspense/romance/historicals are also amusing. I love historicals, and I love romance, and I love paranormal/fantasy, and I love suspense, so combine as many of those labels as you can into one book and I'll be the happiest girl on the planet.

If you want a series where the guys are helpless, try reading Karen Moanings 'Fever' series. {Darkfever, Bloodfever, Faefever, Dreamfever, Shadowfever}. To sum, it's about this ordinary, cheerleader, all american girl, traveling to Ireland to find out what happened to her dead sister, and ending up getting involved with fae (Seelie, Unseelie), and finding out that she's the only one that can save the world, so everyone wants her and she has to decide whether to help the man thats helped her (in a very odd way) to aid the fae, or go after her sisters murderer and say "screw the rest of the world"..... or go back to America and hide under her bed.
It's a very female empowering series without taking the masculinity out of men.

I don't mind romance in books, but I don't normally read books that are just about romance.

I like reading everything, as long as it's written good (except books that are basically written porn, and those are normally aimed at straight women, so whatever).

I love Historical and then contemporary. I'm very picky about my Paranormal/Fantasy ones and I do NOT read Westerns.

i rarely read paranormal stories, mostly because they're all so similar and boring. i don't find them interesting at all. historical and contemporary are definitely my favorites.
