Sometimes fans really annoy me, especially when they take decent characters and draw them doing lewd and provocative things. OR when I was in high school I got really tired of seeing everyone where the Naruto head bands. >_<
Something I like is Death Note but the fan base bugs me a lot sometimes. XD
However do note that I understand most people are just having fun and the fans are what keep it alive, I just have some nit-picks O_O
Tell me about yours!

Yes, yes. I was into Naruto, but with all the annoying kids with headbands running around I was more afraid of being associated with them than enjoying the show. So I completely avoided all things Naruto until this year when I finally read the Manga. I still won't watch/buy the anime for that reason, though. Don't want any evidence!
Sailor Moon, when it was on Toonami by DiC, was also the same. They ruined the show to make it for little kids whereas the Japanese version was completely different, and I was watching Fansubs but I couldn't dare say I liked the show or risk being confused with the little girl fanbase that DiC created >.<

Yes I don't like admitting what anime I do like in fear of being associated with certain types of fans. D: Inuyasha is a great example too. I saw so many people in school with Inuyasha yaoi (sometimes even with his brother) and it made me sick =___= I don't like anything being too sexual either way, but I don't want people to think I'm a "omg pretty boys, lets draw them all making out" person. >_<

I've never seen much of that around here, but then again, I don't know that many people who are in to anime. The ones I do see always tend to just be the goofy hyperactive pretend-to-be-this-character-and-annoy-everyone type of people.
But yes, Inu Yasha is another good example. I remember the Sesshomaru craze that swept my High School when it first came out. And the dog-ears people wore. I mean, seriously? Can't you just enjoy something without embarrassing everyone else that does?
Trigun is another one I can think of. It was all of a sudden funny to wear a tie around your forehead and yell out "Love and Peace!" which was funny the first 3-5 times, but then it was just annoying.

Yeah Trigun was definitely one too O___o;; I knew too many boys who over used sayings from that show, which made me end up stop watching it. D:

Hetalia has a really obnoxious fanbase. Funny thing is: the dub actually is what brought me back to watching/reading it again.

Really? I seem to somewhat enjoy the fanbase of Hetalia. But that's just me. Oh god the dub. Oh god oh god oh god no.
I'd have to say part of the fanbase to, oddly enough, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle. So many people have only watched the anime which is complete and utter --------!!!!! And those damn fanbrats who say "Fai goes with chii cuz he dated hur on dat 1 episode!!!111!!!oneoneone" Oh really now? You mean that filler shit that never EVER happened in the manga!? No. You are not a fan of TRC if you only watched the anime; you are a wannabe fanbrat.
They ruined it. Those fanbrats and their psychotic and misleading ships. I still love the manga COMPLETELY, but now a bit less ever since certain...things...have happened... You really, REALLY don't want to know.

Dragon Ball Z was full of crazy people back when I actually cared about it. The multitude of people who insisted they were incarnations of Vegeta or Goku was insane. And they were women! I was in the slashy side of fandom so all the fans I knew were crazy women who thought they were alien princes with a chip on their shoulder. Not everyone was bad, I met a lot of awesome people from the fandom but ultimately, the crazy ran me off and I just can't look at that series the same.

Hm. I used to get annoyed a lot by Hetalia fandom, but now I just don't bother searching for it on the internet anymore. Keep Hetalia subscribed on YouTube, watch an episode, and that's that. Don't even bother looking for fan-art or anything anymore. I suppose that makes me sound like I'm pretty safe from the fandom, but trust me, I'm not. When I go to cosplay meetups, there's always Hetalia cosplayers, in which some are nice and can actually have a conversation with, but some are pretty arrogant, noisy, and perverted.

Yugioh is a anime i liked a lot, but you sure know what the fanbase did. They formed fanfictions with pornstuff and always those bad yugi-cosplays.....you cant design your REAL hair like his hair >.<,
I liked to play the cardgame at start, too. But they limited the most old and storyspecific cards and one day the was forbidden. And there where all this "pro"gamer who thought they can handle it like the anime in person >.<

Okay, so two weeks ago, I was still a fan of Naruto, but I had DeviantArt and I just got tired of people constantly posting their fail OC's paired up with some random character who would probably never decide to date. Like..Gaara..or Hidan or something. I was just like ".I don't want to see that anymore =_=;;;"

Naruto. Why?
I just learned that there is a Naruto religion. No seriously, look up Jashinism. The fanbase is that bad. The show was nice at first, but then... yeah. It's pretty bad when the fanbase literally worships it.

I don't like being associated with liking manga/anime, I feel ashamed because of all of the stupid obessessed people that it gets associated with and I don't want people thinking I'm like that. I read or watch the anime/manga like any other show or book. I don't get so into it that I'm looking up fanart rather I enjoy it and move on. If I'm on dA and see something yaoi/crack pairings or whatnot I just ignore it so that it doesn't bother me. I don't think its that important anyways.
I remember when I was making an AMV for Full Metal Alchemist way back when and I ran across things I couldn't unsee...I learned my lesson xD

I don't think I'd let the fan base for any particular anime/manga ruin the series for me. If I'm aware that there are crazy obsessed people doing fanart or fanfiction or whatnot with ideas or couples that would not make sense then I just don't look the fan stuff up.

There's a couple of different series this happened to for me... but Naruto is definately top on my list.
I liked that series before it was cool- I read the preview chapter of it in shonen jump and started buying the manga before anyone even knew about it... Then it became an anime and that was it... annoying english voice actors (believe it!), and crazed psychos obsessing over it.
I met a person who literally thought he was the reincarnate of kiba and who wore headbands and practiced ninja moves every day... I mean, he was nuts. O-o And that combined with the other corny people who wore the wristbands and such just ruined it for me... I was practically afraid to like the series because there were so many crazed fans. It's one thing to be a fan, it's another thing to be a crazed fan. I didn't want to be associated with them.
And then the series got drawn out- especially the anime, but the manga too- simply because it was so popular, and I just lost interest.

My love for Durarara!! wasn't ruined by the fanbase, but I still highly dislike a lot of the fanbase. It seems like most of the fangirls only watch Durarara!! for their precious crack pairing "Shizaya" even though, you know, Shizuo and Izaya HATE each other. :/

aww I guess its a bad time to come out as a totall male fan girl of durarara I've actually decided to read up on the manga recently too. though I'm more of a fan of izaya than shizuo. sure he's strong and stuff but I love me some evil genious :D. though to answer your question.
naruto.
plain and simple.
ruined by fans/americanization.
I'm glad its the only one that has gotten this bad for me because if there was some kind of ergo proxy version of "believe it" I'd have to kill myself.

Basically anything 4Kids got their grubby little hands on. Invisible guns on Yu-Gi-Oh. Really?
As for fanbase being ruined, there's the obvious; Naruto, Death Note, Inuyasha, Full Metal Alchemist... Ed's angry midget rant impersonations are beginning to grind the nerves.

I still love Durarara! and Hetalia even if their fans really irk me sometimes. 9 out of 10 of the things I find about them on the internet is Yaoi. Yaoi fangirls just kill everything. It's everywhere these days and it makes me want to cower away from my computer. Naruto's fanbase just killed it for me, same with Inuyasha and admittedly, Bleach.

Most of people might so hate me because of that, but... Kuroshijuchi or however it's spelled. -Get ready for a massive fan girls attack >.<- People, and mainly females, are so mad about this anime. I watched it... And I haven't seen anything special. Absolutely. And if you say something bad about it at some discussion forum, which has a point of telling your opinion, you get attacked because you don't like that anime... And not that you're being attacked by 1-3 people.. There goes about 50 of them, explaining you how retarded you are for not liking that masterpiece.
Sorry, if my opinion offended somebody, but I do NOT like that anime.
Peace!

(But Twilight fanbase wins)
