After watching Pirates of the Caribbean on Stranger Tides I just needed to do a role play with mermaids. Same basic concept. Mermaids are mean vicious things that lure human males into the water then take them to their underwater kingdom and have their way with him.

Name: Alana
Age: 17
Alana had lived with her "sisters" her whole life, mostly in the water though once in a while when forced they would go on land walking on legs that appear when they leave the water, though never to far from the water that they couldn't quickly jump back in. All the humans she had ever met were dirty pirates that the other mermaids lured under the water and dragged back to their underwater grotto to devour. Alana herself being the youngest of the mermaids at age 17 wasn't allowed to lure the men yet, she was still in training merely watching the other women as they worked. Her chance to do it would come when she was at least twenty so she still had time, the only thing she was allowed to do was swim along with them and stay back to watch. But she was fascinated by the humans always venturing a little to close.
This is a one on one role play, the other character I would prefer male, but if you really push it I will consider female. Would prefer a semi-literate who replies with at least a paragraph, no one liners. Anyone interested let me know by pm sending a profile of you character along with it.

The sounds of seagulls cawing, and the feel of their sharp claws digging into his face, brought Klavien back to the world of the living. Rubbing the crust and sleep from his blue eyes, the brunette struggled to right himself. Eventually, when he did so, he found himself croaking at the intense pain in his shoulders. "I guess they didn't like my proposal so much." He joked morosely, as he massaged the kinks out of his neck.
It was mornings like these; waking up disrobed and beaten, left to rot on the dock of some forsaken corner of the world that sobered him up the best. It proved to him that he wasn't special--that he wasn't immortal, and that his family's name no longer held any pull in society. "Oh, well... I guess I've got to find another place." Pulling the tattered, bloodstained garment that he used to call a shirt over his bruised rips, Klavien shakily got to his feet.
It goes without saying that the young man did this regularly, and, as usual; no matter how hard the thrashing, Klavien would not let a failed night at the pub sour or his sully his mood. "Maybe I should try--Ughnn!" Swearing loudly as his wounded leg gave out under his weight; the brunette fell roughly to his knees.
Okay, whoever gave him this horrid thrashing last night surely held a grudge. Because, there was absolutely no part of his body that didn't ache. His head was pounding; the muscles in his jaw were pulsating to the rhythm that his swollen eyelid twitched, not to mention that he definitely broke his hand when he punched a carouser that passed evening. "I must be a masochist, there's just no way I keep letting this happen." Spitting out a dry glob of copper tasting blood, Klavien forced himself back onto his feet.
Hissing as he dragged his leg along, as if it had been tied down by an anchor, Klavien ignored the whispers and looks that were thrown in his direction from passersby. 'As long as they're comfortable, they don't give two s--' his bitter thoughts were quickly interrupted when he stumbled over a warped plank that jutted out a little further than the rest.
Catching his balance before he found himself splayed out across the splintery surface, Klavien scowled. "Yeah, I'm definitely a masochist." By now, he could definitely feel that his ankle was swollen and wasn't about to put up with being walked on. He needed to find a place to prop his foot up, and should that same place have alcohol, so help him goddesses of the sea, he might have to take his own life.
((NinjaKitty: I apologize for the length, or any spelling errors, I swear this just started writing itself, and I promise that I'll spellcheck it in the morning! Anyways, I'm heading to bed, hope you enjoyed it. :) Looking forward to your post.))

(Apricot:hey no worries the first posts are normally always the longest, or at least that's how it normally goes for me. I'll probably be on for some time longer, but I look forward to your reply tomorrow ^-^)
The water was a cool deep blue, Alana could hear the giggles of her sisters as they lounged on the rocks near the shore just soaking up the sun, their tanned legs still shinny with sea water. As for Alana she was swimming apart from her little group of ten mermaids most of whom were on the rocks though a few were swimming lazily in the water nearby.
She flicked her tail a good hard flick that propelled her farther away from the group, the rest of the group didn't notice her swimming away, they were busy giggling and gossiping about their latest catch, a young pirate that couldn't be more then twenty. In Alana's opinion he was a dirty foul mouthed thing she didn't want to get close to, but it seemed her sisters didn't share her opinion. A red headed mermaid Mira finally noticed Alana was way out to sea on her own. Not usually a bad thing but lately there had been more ships in their waters then normal so it was better if they stick together.
With strong flicks of her powerful tail she quickly caught up with the lazily swimming Alana.
"Hon, you can't go that far, what if a human had seen you? Or what if you got caught in one of those cursed fishing nets?" she asked hooking her arm through Alana's and swimming back with her. As the oldest of the group the beautiful red head Mira was the unspoken leader, and Alana's teacher.
"I hadn't realized I was swimming so far out Mira I'm sorry" Alana answered truthfully allowing herself to be dragged back through the water.
"It's quite alright dear, but you had better pay attention we wouldn't want anything to happen to you now would we?" they were now close enough to the group that Mira didn't feel the need to drag Alana along any longer. "You will get your chance with a man, soon I plan on giving you your very first practice run. Think your ready for it?" Mira asked running her fingers through her long red hair.
"I'm not sure..." Alana trailed off unsure, to be honest she didn't much care for the dirty, lewd men her sister's usually lured out, but there didn't seem many choices everything considered those were the only men who usually sailed these waters. They had on occasion ventured to human cities but only very rarely and never in Alana's lifetime.

As luck would have it, Klavien found himself in a spot of trouble when he was discovered by one of the Mademoiselles from last night; she viciously accused him of defiling the innocence of one of the newer courtesans, to which he irritably replied with something to the effect of—“you’re all loose women! I didn’t do anything she hasn’t already done before!”—which earned him a swift kick to the lower abdomen. Coughing up blood from the woman’s powerful swing, Klavien’s knees buckled and he collapsed to the dock. “Aghnn… Surely, if you questioned her; she would tell you that we just had a little chat--”
“Silence, you pig! Men like you are absolutely revolting!” The woman hollered and wailed and she continued her assault; which lasted well over two minutes before she was finally pulled away. Klavien couldn’t see his saviors’ faces, because he was too busy trying to assume the fetal position the best he could without irritating his broken ribs. Ugh, if he thought he was in a world of pain before—he was now in the universe. It felt as if thousands of well-sized swords had been plunged into his chest, making it pure agony just to take a single breath. “Ah…” He groaned, gargling on the taste of fresh blood mixing with last night’s blood, alcohol and food.
Klavien’s hearing seemed to have failed him, because everything was grimly quiet. He couldn’t hear the gulls crying, nor the waves crashing up against the dock, better yet—he couldn’t even hear the small group of wayward adventurers calling out to the sky to get him some medical attention. The last thing he could vaguely recall, before his condition deteriorated well enough for him to go lifeless, was the sun progressing over the horizon inch by inch, until everything went black.
“Aye—he be down for the count, fellas.” A gruffly sounding man’s voice echoed throughout Klavien’s dream. “Why’re you fellas always bringin’ these wounded pests onboard?” The man continued to say as he lifted Klavien’s broken hand, holding in the candle light to inspect the visible wounds. “The cap’n isn’t gonna like this, not one bit. You’d best go inform him of this discovery, else he’ll be thinking that there be a mutiny afoot.”
Whomever he was talking to gingerly fled the tiny medical bay, leaving the man alone to his work. “This be the last time I look after some doe-eyed scallywag.” Straining his eyes to see in the scant light that the candles provided, the man got to work cleaning and dressing Klavien’s wounds the best he could with limited supplies that lay out on the shelves.
The crew may have been kept in the dark about their critical state, but that dastardly captain couldn’t pull the wool over the good doctor’s eyes. He had been counting the days, the weeks since they had raided a navy vessel for provisions—it had been a good two months and they were running dangerously low on food, drinking water, medical materials… “What is that dastardly captain scheming?” Face twisting in disgust, the man finished dressing the last of the wounds--a deep gash on the higher portion of Klavien’s right thigh--before wiping his bloody hands off on a towel that hung nearby his station.
“I’m tellin’ ya this kid, ‘cause I don’t particularly desire to see all me hard work go t’waste. When—if you ever wake up; get’cher bearings and get out of here!” Swatting at the unconscious lad, the good doctor dared to venture upstairs to find his captain. Discretion be casted aside, he wanted to know what was going on here.
((NinjaKitty: ;) I don't know, I usually don't move out of the ‘Mini Novella-post’ stage until we get pages into the RP. Jasmine, a pretty little blond mermaid was waiting at her post, a rock out in the middle of the sea. Lately ships hadn't been coming as frequently as normal and Mira was becoming worried, although she didn't show that to the other mermaids but Jasmine who had been with the woman nearly their whole long lives could tell. The last time they had seen a ship this far out was about a year ago the men they had plucked off the ship, the last one had died about a month back.
Suddenly she sat up in the water, her attention fixed on a black dot far off to sea the gulls she could hear chattering over her head about another batch of pirates sailing to find the treasure hidden on an island in the middle of the mermaids territory. In swift movements Jasmine set off making fast for the area she knew her sisters were lounging ready to bring them the happy news that men were coming....
Alana caught sight of the pretty blond before anyone else had seen her, she was leaping out of the water her red scales flashing as they caught the sun. "Mira look it's Jasmine" Alana said tapping Mira's shoulder who was deep in conversation with her unspoken second an exotic beauty Lola, with long dark hair that spread out in the water around her, olive skin, blue eyes that reflected the sea, and dark blue scales. Completely different from Alana with her light colored skin that never tanned, silvery blue hair, golden brown eyes, and emerald scales. Out of them all Alana thought Mira and Lola was the most beautiful each in their own way.
Mira looked up a smile ready on her lips knowing that the only reason their scout Jasmine would be here was because a ship was coming. Her suspicions were only confirmed when Jasmine breathless with excitement and exertion explained what she had seen and heard. A ship filled with the usual pirates on clear course to the island in the middle of their territory.
Alana felt tingly with excitement, she knew this would be her first chance to try their trade lure the men off course and take them for themselves. Sometimes they would merely go up to the boats and use feminine charm, or singing worked their voices could draw the men like flies to honey. Alana had been working really hard lately to sound just as lovely as Melody when she sang. The name explained the mermaid, Melody another pretty blond with pink scales had a voice that could charm the gods or at least that's what she said, Melody was extremely self confident and in Alana's opinion quite arrogant and rude.
"So my dear are you ready to have your first chance at this?" Mira asked breaking into Alana's thoughts. Mira herself was like the mermaids out of a fairytale, tall by mermaids standards with lovely waist length red hair, bright blue eyes, a pale complexion that unlike Alana's did tan, and green scales that glittered in the sun.
To nervous to actually talk Alana merely nodded pushing her wet hair back away from her face. Out of all the mermaids Alana's hair color was the oddest, all the others had hair in various shades of red, blond, black, and brown. The same with Alana's eyes which were golden brown more gold then brown, none of the others had eyes like hers. In her opinion it detracted from her beauty although Mira didn't think so, she thought it made Alana special and even more beautiful though of course the very young mermaid was still trying to come into her own.
Gathering all nine other mermaids into a lose circle around her Mira discussed the usual plan "we wait till nightfall, at night we seem unearthly and even more beautiful in the moonlight." It was conceit speaking here what Mira said was only true.
(Apricot there's so much to say lol I think we both probably won't get out of long posts for awhile. Which in my opinion is a good thing makes things so much more interesting. I really look forward to your reply ^-^)

It felt as if days—or perhaps weeks had passed, by the time Klavien had eventually been startled awake by the vessel’s ill-tempered captain. “Get up, you lazy sack of bones!” The man shouted, thumping Klavien on the leg once, twice, three more times before he grabbed him by the slivers of his shirt and pulled him upright. “You’ve got some serious explaining to do, you weasel!”
Klavien’s mind was swimming; one half of his thoughts were in dream world, while the other was desperately trying to catch up to the scenario beforehand. “Waah…?” Dizzy from the unexpected jolt, his body buckled and protested from being roughly handled; though, luckily he could no longer feel the agonizing sensations that once haunted his consciousness, as his body had already released the natural endorphins that numbed pain.
“You heard me!” The captain barked, slamming Klavien back down onto the hard, wooden bunk. The younger male gasped and choked as the wind rushed out of his already-wounded lungs. “Tell me what I want to know! What are you doing here!?” Holding the stricken brunette down with one arm, the man quickly reeled the other one back to deliver a fierce punch. “I don’t believe for a second that you’re just hanging around on holiday. Are you the law? A thief--Don’t just look at me, you little s—”
“Harken, leave the poor kid alone.” Grumbled the good doctor, as he hobbled down the creaky steps; normally he wasn’t one for intervening in the captain’s interrogations, but as of late, he found himself trusting the man’s judgment—it doesn’t help that he’d just caught irritable captain beating the living daylights out of the lad without much of a purpose. “He hasn’t done anything to anybody, and I don’t want all me hard work to go to waste; just ‘cause you can’t keep yer hands to yourself.”
Harken glared at his old companion, but grudgingly, he let go of Klavien; who coughed and scampered into the corner to regain his composure. “What’re you doing here, Marshall? I thought I told you to stay in your quarters…”
“This is my quarters, ya’ two-faced fool!” The doctor spat back, crossing the room in a few quick strides. Once he was by the bedside, he stepped in-between Harken and Klavien, bodily creating a barrier between predator and prey. “—‘sides, it’s about sunset, and we’ve neither saw nor heard from that slimy Harrington fella since morning…” Crossing his muscled arms over his board chest, Marshall grinned vainly. “When’re you gonna admit that I was right in sayin’ that he was just a cheat?”
Klavien was still piecing himself together, when he was startled by the sight and sound of Harken throwing his body into Marshall; both men tumbling onto the foot of his bed in a fierce mêlée. Fists and swears were thrown in equal measure, and it was all the brunette could do to keep from getting pulled into the fray.
“Why are you defending him? He’s a throwaway--he’s nothing!” Harken roared, while attempting to wrap his fingers around Marshall’s neck.
“Ya’ must be stupid!” Marshall choked, swinging his fist blindly at his friend’s face; his fist only connected with its intended target once, and that was all he needed to roll away. “He may be a good fer nothing git, but—” The red head coughed and spit out some blood, as he watched Harken pull himself to his feet. “—he’s just a kid, ya’ pinhead!”
That insignificant insult was enough to cause Harken to lunge at his friend once more with lethal intent in his eyes, and by that time Klavien had decided enough was enough—he needed to escape while he could. Scrambling off the bed and onto his feet, the brunette darted up the stairs and towards the door. Not knowing if it was locked or not, Klavien used his body as a battering ram and forced the wooden exit open.
Falling forward onto the wooden deck as the door unexpectedly gave way; the brunette was treated with the smell fresh saltwater laden air. It filled his lungs, and stirred memories long forgotten, but he didn’t have time to dawdle, not when his mind was screaming at him to run! Run for his life!
Scooping himself off the deck, Klavien prepared himself to go—where? He didn’t know. But, he knew for a fact that he was on a ship, and that his fate was pretty much sealed so long as that stark raving mad ‘Captain Harken’ was still breathing. “That man… is wild…” Panting as he dragged himself along, the brunette only then took in the crew; who were staring at him both flabbergasted and inquisitive.
On second thought, maybe he might’ve been safer back down in that murky, not to mention humid, storage haul that they deemed suited for the title of medical bay? “Good evening… fellas.” Klavien greeted, his vision going hazy as adrenaline rushed through his veins. Staggering forth towards the eerily quiet crew, the brunette offered his bandaged hand. “I figure, hey, wouldn’t it be wise for us to break bread before your dear old captain decides to spill my blood all over this, uh, finely polished sundeck.”
And though the crewmembers were quiet, they weren’t dumb nor were they amused by his humor. “And why would we do that?” One of them spoke up, stepping forth to meet the brunette halfway. “If he won’t hesitate to kill a stranger, what makes you think he won’t kill us for choosing sides?”
Klavien paused. The man had a point. “Uh, well, what if I told you that treasure would be in your wake--if you kept me breathing?"
“I wouldn’t believe you.” The man answered matter-of-factly, folding his arms across his chest.
Klavien deadpanned. These fellas were definitely a tough crowd. Clearing his throat, the brunette hesitated to speak when he felt the crewman grip his injured shoulder. “No touching.” He hissed, slipping away from larger man. “Well, what if I told you I was Klavien Françoise; and that I knew were my father’s treasure was?”
The man stared at him for several moments; as if he was sizing him up, before he shook his head in disagreement. “I still wouldn’t believe you.”
Throwing his arms up in defeat, Klavien conceded. “Fine, then don’t.” Glaring at the laboring pirates that went back to their stations, gingerly ignoring him, the brunette continued. “We’ll just let two lifetimes of wealth go to waste, because you’re all afraid of Harken.”
“What did you say?” The man growled, advancing on Klavien; who stood his ground with a fierce stamp of his foot.
“You heard me! You all fear him!” Klavien shouted, pointing accusingly at the men before him. “You could be rich; the lot of you—but, you’re too weak to stop Harken from stealing your gold—your women—your glory! And if you swear you aren’t, then what are you still doing here—” the youth didn’t have a chance to finish, as he had received a sharp jab to the back of his head. Groaning at the impact, he face-planted on the deck.
Sounding out at the mind numbing pain, Klavien didn’t notice that he was being kicked onto his back. It wasn’t until he noted that he was staring up at the mid-evening sky, did he piece everything together. “What’s with all this talk, hmm? You were trying to try my crew against me, weren’t you?” And though, his blurry vision, he could still make out that voice… the person who struck him was Harken!
((NinjaKitty: :) Interesting indeed, I can't wait for the mermaids to meet the sailors. I really want to hurry it along, but like you said, there's just so much to write about! =3 Yeah, so I'm looking forward to yours', hope you don't mind that I went overboard this time. x___x ))

(Apricot lol wow really overboard but such a fun read ^^ )
She couldn't believe how long it was taking for the hours to pass, they still had so long before nightfall and the time of their debut, Mira let them all go off and ready themselves in their own way, all of them that was except for Alana. It seemed the leader wanted a special word with her before her first go. She did have to admit though, she was both nervous and excited and gratefully accepting of any advice Mira could give her.
"Now remember to have your hair brushed and gleaming, you have lovely silvery hair that will catch the moonlight perfectly, it may even help to have something shiny pull it back. We do have jewel clips, I'll let you borrow one of mine. Now as you well know we mermaids don't wear clothes as humans do, but the men seem to like it when your hair covers your chest, mystery or some such thing I'm not entirely sure. Anyway another important tip play innocent gets them every time" Mira told her a few more tips that seemed to fill Alana's head, it was a lot to remember. Yet she was determined to remember it all. Finally Mira let her go get ready, while she herself got ready, but before she left she handed Alana a beautifully wrought hairpin studded with emeralds that matched her scales.
Clutching the hairpin Alana swam back to the small island holding the mermaids treasures, she dragged herself onto the beach before her tail changed into long pale legs, it took a bit to get used to the change but soon enough she was walking around with ease. Rummaging through all the treasure, which in Alana's opinion was just shiny junk it's not like the mermaids could use it, she finally found a comb studded with gems. All the mermaids had their own combs and now so did Alana. Now she just needed a bad or somewhere to put it, like the other mermaids did.
Once she was back in the refuge of the water she felt much better, clutching both her prizes she dove under the water swimming down, unknown to the other mermaids she had her own hidden underwater cave that had a above ground hole to let in sunlight perfect for keeping things. Already inside the air pocket she had a few human items she found particularly interesting, a pair of pants, a heel, a pipe, and her favorite item a book. Although there was no way to read it all the ink had run leaving only a few pictures to look at. Not that, that was a problem Alana couldn't read anyway. Sitting on the edge of the rock she started combing out her hair till it felt silky and her fingers ran through it easily, she fixed the hairpin in her hair attractively.
Stashing the brush away she dove back into the water moving with even strokes towards the small group she knew waited at their usual spot near the island. Jasmine was already there her hair brushed and pulled back to show her ample bosom, Lola was there beautiful as ever. Other then them two others were there, a brunette Padme, and raven haired Ali one of the sweetest of the group and a good friend of Alana's. Swimming up to Ali's side they soon got into a deep discussion of what was going on Ali relating her experience and Alana soaking it in like a sponge.
Soon enough the rest of the mermaids joined them all of them looking their best, and all of them excited it seemed to long since the last time they had done this. Mostly Alana was to hang back and watch only when it seemed a sure thing was she to join in, the experienced of their group took the lead, Mira, Jasmine, Lola, and Ali.
There was still an hour before moonrise, in which they took the time to swim close to the ship, it was Alana's first time near a ship boarded with men. The last time one had come around she had been to young to join in and was left behind till the others came back. The ship was large and the men loud and full of energy. They didn't let themselves be seen yet keeping quiet and drawing no attention to themselves as they trailed the ship.
The moon was finally high enough in the sky by the time Mira gave a quick little nod to the group, Alana fell back behind the rest all eyes as the others moved forward gracefully making little splashes, giggling and chattering knowing fully well eventually the noise would be heard by the men. After a short while though instead of talking they fell silent letting Melody set the tune. Before one by one joining in with the song, it was eerily beautiful and from what Alana could see even as she softly joined in, was drawing men to the sides of the ship.
Quote:
Tell me the tales that to me were so dear,
Long, long ago, long, long ago,
Sing me the songs I delighted to hear,
Long, long ago, long ago,
Now you are come all my grief is removed,
Let me forget that so long you have roved.
Let me believe that you love as you loved,
Long, long ago, long ago.
Do you remember the paths where we met?
Long, long ago, long, long ago.
Ah, yes, you told me you'd never forget,
Long, long ago, long ago.
Then to all others, my smile you preferred,
Love, when you spoke, gave a charm to each word.
Still my heart treasures the phrases I heard,
Long, long ago, long ago.
Tho' by your kindness my fond hopes were raised,
Long, long ago, long, long ago.
You by more eloquent lips have been praised,
Long, long ago, long, long ago,
But, by long absence your truth has been tried,
Still to your accents I listen with pride,
Blessed as I was when I sat by your side.
Long, long ago, long ago.

Marshall had rescued himself from his station moments too late, as Klavien had already been subdued. The brunette was forced to his knees, head bowed and eyes covered with a thin cloth, arms bound behind his back by a thick rope that was cutting so deep into his wrists, that it made the skin break.
“Kill him!” Harken hollered to his crew, when he caught sight of the good doctor emerging from the darkness of the cargo haul. “Kill him now!” With the full moon as their witness, the pirates made a move to toss the youth over the ship’s edge, and into the obsidian colored ocean. Icy blue eyes widened as Klavien’s mind raced to the conclusion that he was about to meet his demise y the hands of the cruel ocean—or atleast, the scoundrels that sailed upon it. Barking and swearing, as he fruitlessly struggled against the strength of the ten men who herded him to Death’s cold embrace, Klavien dropped into a crouch. “You guys are cowards! I wouldn’t even wipe my boots on doormats as filthy as you!”
Harken growled with unbridled rage, as he advanced on the brunette. “I’ll kill you for your impudence!” Raising a hand high above his head, the man revealed to the crew that he had whip in his hand, and was preparing to deliver a flogging most brutal.
“Harken!” Marshall called, rushing in to defuse the situation. Reaching a calloused hand out to shove his friend aside, the red head ordered the crewmen to stand down. Waiting for them to obey, Marshall turned his attention to the seething captain. “Harken—Sam, you must be drunk or out’cher mind! Pulling all these rash stunts, tying me up in haul with that pathetic knot—you act like you don’t know nothing.” Smirking when the ravenette’s expression faltered, he glanced over at Klavien. “And you, kid –aye! Ya’re gonna be the death of me, aswell!” And though his deep, accented voice was as rough as sandpaper, it did a lot to slice through the tension that hung heavy in the air.
“Erick, I would have half a mind to throw you in the brig for your complete disregard for my orders.” The captain’s sighed aloud as his shoulders slumped. The anger that once tainted his countenance flitted away to reveal unmistakable fatigue. He had been awake for days on end, not eating, barely drinking, and doing the very best he could to keep his crew from catching on to the dire situation he had found them in. He would go absolutely mad if he kept it up. Nodding to the crew to let Klavien free, Harken stalked towards Marshall; though, this time without the promise of violence.
“Yeah—but, as luck would ‘ave it; you haven’t got one at all, Sammy.” Marshall grinned, welcoming his friend in a manly embrace. “I ‘aven’t got much to worry about, I don’t think so.” His grin widened when he received a playful elbow in the ribs.
Klavien stared dumbfounded as he was released from his bindings. One minute, these two were at each other’s throats, and in an instant, they’re playing around, addressing one another on a first name basis? The full moon must be making them all insane. Suddenly, the sound of women giggling and conversing; splashing in the water, swimming and so on, filled the somewhat calm atmosphere. ‘I must be mad!’ The brunette thought bewildered, as he rubbed the raw skin of his wrist.
“Do you hear that?” A crewmate asked, glancing around peculiarly as they were bathed in the enchanting sounds of a woman’s voice—several women’s voices, now... each of their beautiful voices assimilated together to create one of the most dazzling noises ever to be uttered. To think that a human—any human could make these sounds… impossible! Their voices were just too ethereal; like the angels themselves had descended upon mortals, even if it was just to serenade them… just for tonight.
All their troubles, all their woes—it all washed away. They were all mesmerized by the song, and wanted nothing more than to kneel at the feet of the eerie, flawless creatures that sung to them so beautifully. ”Goddesses…” Klavien whispered hopelessly, as he gaped at the other males. They all stood ram-rod straight, each and every one of them as silent as the moon was bright. It was as if they had been enchanted—bewitched by the sirens song that fluttered throughout.
Looking to the doctor—to the captain, Klavien was shocked to see that they too were entranced by the spectral melody.
((NinjaKitty: :P Honestly, I'm a lot more interested in your characters than mine. Those darling Sirens of the Sea are always stealing my attention away. :D Oh, and I thought that it was just darling that Alana had a book--maybe Klavien can spin her some yarn? And, by the way... I love that song, it was definitely good choice for the ladies to sing!))

Mira knew they had them when the sounds on deck slowly fell into silence, it sounded like the men had been arguing, not that she much cared, if they threw a man overboard it would be much easier for them. Their song drew to a close, yet she knew they had the men even though none came to the sides of the ship to look over. Mira waved Taia the most athletic or highest jumper among them, Taia had light brown hair purposely cropped short, deep brown eyes, tanned skin that contrasted nicely with her lovely purple scales. Mira spoke in low tones to her which of course Alana couldn't hear. But the discussion soon became clear when Taia took a quick start and jumped high enough out of the water to draw attention. Water sprayed in all directions artfully almost as if even that was planned. Moonlight caused the water droplets on Taia's tanned skin to glisten making her seem even more ethereal.
The woman weren't singing anymore just talking in soft voices beckoning the men to them, Alana hung back watching as one by one the men appeared at the sides of the ship staring at the lovely unearthly creatures that called out to them, each more lovely then the next.
Alana tried to see it from the point of view of the men, she would be in awe if she were them to see such beauty, she was in awe right now watching as her sisters changed from the woman she usually saw everyday into these enchanting sirens. She was filled with a sudden longing to join her sisters. Swimming closer she looked up at the faces of the men that flanked the ship, their faces were one of shock and awe. Half of longing, half of amazement they wanted to join the women that was clear.
Lola already had her eye on one, Alana had to admit, rather handsome young man she was smiling at him calling to him beckoning him closer. The ships walls were high so they couldn't make any contact but Mira had a feeling it wouldn't be long before the men lowered down a boat in an effort to get closer.
The mermaids voices promised the men their hearts desire if only they would join the women, come to them. Alana didn't say anything, she knew the men had their attention fixed on her sisters more then her. So she took the time to watch and learn. The men were leaning over the sides some looked ready to leap right over. It amazed Alana that they could have that much of an effect on these men.
Taia again jumped high out of the water given the men a good view as she flashed past, Mira turned and beckoned Alana over, Alana speed up till she swam along side Mira cutting through the water with sure strokes keeping pace with the ship easily. "Honey why don't you try a jump I believe we have them, and you need the practice" Mira said softly adding a small giggle on the end that chimed in Alana's ears like the tinkling of small bells. Compared to Taia, Alana was tiny she didn't think she could jump quite as high as her but she would give it a go. Diving down under the water she swam deep before shooting for the surface fast as she could. Her jump wasn't as impressive as Taia's was but it wasn't bad either. The cold air touched the water on her skin making goosebumps rise, the sea enveloped her in nice warm arms when she landed in it with a small splash.
Mira smiled and showered Alana with praise as she swam up to her side making Alana giggle herself and glow with her accomplishment. She chanced a glance up at the men and was caught by the sight of the same one Lola was calling for, he was a rather handsome one wasn't he. Alana waved at him but didn't say anything.
"Come with me my dear I will make your dreams become reality, come to me and all you'll ever want will be yours" Lola's voice rang out above the others enticingly, Ali's voice, Padme's voice, Melody's voice joined Lola's promising riches, beautiful woman, and more happiness then they could ever imagine. Nine voices rang out into the silence broken by nothing but the sound of the sea. One of the reasons they choice night, no seagulls were out to break the enchantment of their voices, and the night only increased the mystery. Alana's voice was the only silent one again she was all eyes.
(Apricot both the men and mermaids fascinate me, I wonder what will happen to the men when the mermaid catch them O.O (not telling lol). I look forward to your reply. >< One thing though I feel bad for poor beaten Klavien lol he's always getting picked on)

Klavien gaped in horror as the captivated buccaneers stalked towards the edge; each of them audacious enough to toddle closer and closer to the rail of the boat until they had tipped over the side with a loud howl. The sight and sound of the men diving, willingly, to their water graves haunted the brunette. Turning on his heel, he was greeted with the sight of Marshall staggering towards the edge as well. And though he may have been a filthy pirate with a vulgar mouth, and poor hygiene—if it wasn’t for him, Klavien would have pitched into the sea as if he were shark bait.
“Marshall! Get a hold of yourself!” Hollering as he darted towards the man, the youth didn’t expect to see the flotilla of otherworldly women—no, they weren’t women, they couldn’t be! No woman in her right mind would dare persuade another individual to somersault to their doom. Sirens, they were—dancing atop the murky water, eyeing them with carnal expressions.
Gulping audibly, as Klavien met the dazzling, ochre gaze of a particular female. She was beautiful—smaller built than her companions, but, definitely voluptuous—undeniably his type… if she wasn’t so mystical and menacing, that is. Watching how her silky, silver -white hair fluttered in the night-time breeze, Klavien couldn’t help but be enchanted. It was luminescent—jewel-like. It was as if he was peering into a spider’s web under the bright, afternoon sun.
Letting out a breath he didn’t even know he was holding; the brunette found himself staggering towards the edge, along with the captain with the remaining crew in tow. It was as if he couldn’t control himself—that he was at the will of destiny. Oh, goddesses don’t let him take the plunge! Fighting against this strange hex that they women had put upon him, Klavien recognized that his resolution was breaking; crumbling like an old, dilapidated treasure map that had been put upon water—if he didn’t free himself from their lure soon, he wouldn’t be to do so once he reached the edge of the deck.
Klavien’s body hummed pleasantly as the Enchantress’ spoke; their voices resonating deeply throughout him, like lightning striking him at his core—his heart strummed sporadically, his lungs seized; constricting his breathing, his vision-spotting as his head spun. The siren’s voices enraptured him unlike anything he’d ever experienced.
Inching towards his end, Klavien got a whiff of the pheromone-laden air. It smelled heavenly; like seawater and—suddenly, the youth was greeted by vivid memories of childhood. The smell in the air—it was comfortably familiar to that of his mother. She wouldn’t want him to go like this! Stunned out of his trace, the brunette realized it was too late for the others’, as the last of them had already fallen over the edge. “No! Marshall!” He roared, racing over to the side to watch the man’s boots disappear out of sight.
((NinjaKitty: :P Boys will be boys; mermaids is where it's at! Aw~ You've gotta tell me! You've just gotta! I feel alittle bad for the way I've been treating him, but--who knows? Maybe his luck will change, soon?

(Apricot ^-^ don't worry about it, completely understandable I had a great time yesterday as well. I went to an anime convention with one of my good friends my first one it was awesome)
The men staggered towards them, doing exactly what Mira thought they would one by one jumping over the sides of the ship to the waiting mermaids. The woman whisked the men off disappearing with them until it was only Mira, Lola and Alana left looking up at the one man that was left the handsome young brunette who somehow seemed to have shaken their spell. Lola flashed another enchanting smile up at the young man, he out of everyone was the only one to break free of the spell their voices weaved.
"Come Lola I don't think Alana needs us anymore, let her try this one on her own alright" Mira started overriding Lola's protest before her mouth could open "no no dear Alana doesn't need us here besides it's clear she's the one he likes" Mira continued in a low voice so that even with her keen hearing Alana didn't catch what she said. Giving a quick little wink to the now freaking out Alana who mouthed the words don't leave, she pretended not to see, she hooked her arm through Lola's and set off after their sisters. "Have fun dearie" she singsonged as they left.
Now alone with the human and literally freaking out Alana chanced a glance up at the man, he didn't look very happy but she figured she wouldn't either in his place. Watching his friends get dragged off by mermaids to an underwater world where he had no idea what would happen to him. Alana did but she didn't think he would be very happy with it. The one's they took a shine to would last a lot longer then the ones they took a dislike to. "They should be okay for tonight" she spoke up attempting to but him somewhat at ease. Why she wanted to do this she wasn't really sure.
The ship looked lonely and haunted now that the majority of the men all except one lone man were gone taken away by her sisters. The ship was very easy to keep pace with now and Alana rolled over onto her back following along lazily. How to get the man off the ship? Mira hadn't told her, was this a common problem? Determined though, Mira had, had confidence in her to do it when she left, Alana gave it another shot making her voice as sweet and sultry as she could she called out to him. "Why don't you come with me? I could give you anything you want just as my sisters are giving to your friends" she figured that's what Mira or any of her other sisters would say though it felt odd coming out of her mouth when what she really wanted to do was ask questions.
The wind was washing over the bare skin that peeked out of the water on her chest and stomach making goosebumps rise, unable to suppress a shiver she ducked down under the water, finally giving in to her curiosity if she could she would get on deck of the ship and inspect every nook and cranny but from what she could see there was no way up. "What's it like up there? What's the human world like?" if any of the other mermaids saw her right now they would think her crazy. Whenever she asked them about the human world they would give her this look, a aren't you a weird little mermaid who cares. To them the human world didn't matter aside from the humans it provided them they couldn't care less.
She swam around the ship looking for a ladder or some way up "excuse me, do you ah think you could lower a ladder down? I want to see what it's like up there?" she had a feeling he probably thought her odd as well and wouldn't answer any of her questions, though she couldn't really blame him. Her voice had lost that sort of sultry quality she was trying to show off earlier instead it was curious laden, away from her sisters the excitement had washed away to be filled with curiosity and interest.

Klavien stared slack jawed as the assembly of Sirens quickly disbursed—having claimed their prize, there was no reason for them to stick around… or so he thought, until he realized that three were hanging back. Surely, they knew that they had more men than they knew what to do with—why were they sticking around for him? Did they get tasteless thrill out of watching him shudder with fear? Forcing himself to still, the youth observed the two mature females scheming amongst themselves in clandestine.
‘What are they planning?’ He pondered, nervously turning his attention to the silverette; his mouth went dry when he took her in. She looked no less panicky than he was—but, why? Soon enough, he got the answer to his question. The other two Sirens started out in the direction of the others who had left moments erstwhile.
Meeting the lone female’s ochre stare, as she nervously swam beside the sea vessel, Klavien found himself glaring harshly at her. Sure, she looked innocent enough—but, of course, you should never judge someone by their pretty face. After all, she did let her ferocious companions drag the whole darn crew to the bottom of the ocean, without so much as a bat of her eyelash.
Hearing the girl speak almost made Klavien jump out of his skin; and what she had told him unnerved him even more. “They’ll be okay!? How can I be sure of that?” He hollered, clenching his fists open and close. “They were pulled by their ankles into the black lagoon! Unless they have gills that I don’t know about; I don’t think they would even survive an hour—let alone the whole night!” Gritting his teeth, Klavien felt his eyes sting with tears of wrath; though, he swore that he wasn’t going to let those emotions flow.
Noting how the enchantress kept in stride with the ship, Klavien was stunned into realization; without the rest of the crew to man the decks, the ship was at the mercy of the waves… much like he was at the mercy of the goddesses. Though, admittedly, he knew that the divinities had abandoned him a long time ago… that or they had a sick sense of humor.
Interrupted from his thoughts when the girl spoke up again, Klavien was quick to rebuff her proposal. “Why, so you can kill me; just like your sisters are doing to the rest?” Stamping his foot down to add to the fierceness of his statement, the youth leaned over the railing to get a good view of the silverette. “What are we to you; are we toys—food—a means for reproduction? Why can’t you leave me be!?”
Quivering as the wind swirled passed, stirring his silky shoulder length tangles, noticed the inquisitive look in those pretty, sunset-colored eyes. Was she plotting ways to get him off the boat? Was she going to show him sympathy? The wind sails fluttered loudly, writhing and buckling under the gales of wind, and the sound was enough to drown out his thoughts. Lost in those eyes, Klavien only realized she was speaking to him when his eyes trailed to her soft, rubicund-colored lips.
“Up here…?” Klavien parroted lamely, his voice sounding as inattentive as his countenance looked. “Why would you care?” He pried, suddenly overwhelmed with curiosity. “You’re a—” Glancing at her, the words got stuck in his throat. “You’re a—mermaid... why would you wish to have anything to do with the likes of humans?” Unable to understand the strange creature before him, Klavien wrung his hands along the splintery, wooden rail. “…Lower a ladder?! Are you daft?” Pushing off the banister, the brunette turned his back on the silverette. “I would have half a mind to keep you away from me.” He grumbled, folding his arms across his chest.
‘You’re just going to leave her down there?’ His conscious asked, causing his heart to swell with guilt… wait, remorse? Why should he feel guilty about his attitude towards her; she was the man-eating mermaid! Daring to glance at her from the corner of his eye, Klavien was greeted to the sight of a snooping girl who was just curious. If he were in her position—no! He’s sympathizing with her! “Get your head on straight, Françoise!” He chided himself, clenching his eyes shut to block out the visage of the youthful Siren.
Hearing the water splash against the sides of the ship as the girl swam around it; Klavien felt legs carry him back towards the handrail. Peeling his eyes open, he saw her swimming gracefully atop the sea. There was something about her that drew him in like a moth to a flame… maybe it was her beauty—her apparent virtuousness? Either way, he found himself trusting her not to do him harm, and that was why he cautiously handed down the rickety rope-ladder. ‘Perhaps she loses a little bit of her strength on land?—erm—boat.’ He thought to himself as the stepladder dropped into the water. He needed to convince himself that what he was doing wasn’t entirely thoughtless, and the reason he came up with was good enough, he supposed.
((NinjaKitty: Anime Convention? That's so cool! I always wanted to go to one of those; but, I'm always broke when they come around. What was it like?))

(Apricot my friend called me up at like nine in the morning yesterday asking if I wanted to go, wow it was so much fun. I was amazed at all the things that were there people actually made by hand. Hats, bookmarks, key chains, posters, sketches, stuffed animals, t shirt, pins. I ended up buying a bag with fruit basket characters on it, and these little pins I decorated the bag with. There were so many people in cosplay a lot of which were characters I had no idea what they were. I ended up getting a few pictures of my favorite characters, Honey from Ouran High School hehe I got a hug and a rose, pictures of people from Hetalia, and Kingdom Hearts. There was even these little events going on, games, theatrics but man it was fun, although by the end of it I was exhausted. ^-^ can't wait to go again next year.)
"Actually...they..." she started but was cut off by his continued angry retort, she wanted to tell him that the guys would be okay tonight. Feed and let to rest before being put to use tomorrow, it was very hard for a mermaid to get pregnant which was why they were kept so long. Another slightly gross thing, at least in Alana's opinion was that human blood sometimes raised a mermaids fertility rate. So they would kill one of the males and drink his blood and they might get pregnant. Right now their pod was very small, only ten in all and most of the mermaids were trying desperately to become pregnant. With no luck there hadn't been a new baby since Alana, and unfortunately Alana's mother was gone killed killed when she got caught in a fishing net. Most would think that because of what had happened to her mother Alana's curiosity with humans would gone, that she would in fact hate them, that had never happened her curiosity remained strong. Was it the humans fault? Shouldn't they hate mermaids for what they do? Though from what Mira told Alana most humans didn't even believe mermaids were real.
Not real? How could they not believe she was real? Were mermaids available no where else in the seven seas? Where they going extinct? Questions that didn't seem to bother the other mermaids always bothered Alana, yet when she tried to ask these questions they brushed them off or else flat out told her to stop asking. But didn't they want to know? It was things like these that made her know how different she was from her sisters despite how hard she tried to be like them.
After his reaction to her request, a very negative reaction, Alana figured there was no way she was getting on that boat. So when a rickety old rope ladder lowered down it came as quite a shock to her. The ladder looked like it would barely be able to hold her weight, but then big burly sailors who surly weighed much more then her used to all the time right? It would break halfway up. With a few strokes of her powerful tail she swam towards the ladder excitement rushing through her. Her first trip on a ship a real working ship, not those sunken vessels she sometimes lurked around that her sisters just couldn't keep her away from. How many times had they looked for her yet couldn't find her anywhere because she was inspecting sunken ships? Even she wasn't sure anymore.
The first couple of rungs were hard, very hard because it involved dragging her heavy tail which was not made for on land use or climbing ladders at all. But once clear of the water they thankfully turned into two long strong legs the rungs after those were easier, even more so when she again grew quickly accustomed to legs. Another thing her sisters didn't know about her was how much more comfortable she was with legs then most mermaids, unlike them she liked going onto islands and exploring, feeling the sand between her toes, ground beneath her feet. If they knew they would probably keep her away from land.
[i]My first time aboard a ship I wonder what it will be like, not all cracked and broken with fish swimming all over it. she daydreamed until her hand touched the top and she pulled herself up on deck. The first thing that hit her was the wind, goosebumps rose on her bare skin, leaving her naked and shivering on deck her wet hair dripping puddles onto the deck. Ignoring the cold she took in her first real view of the ship.
It was amazing what these humans could come up with to sail the seas with, she had seen only pictures of the human world and actual ships, even sunken ships didn't hold a candle to this. How in the seven seas did they make this? she wondered dropping to her knees and running her fingers over the deck the wind was drying strands of her hair and blowing them in her face. Brushing them aside she glanced up at the human who was nearly gaping at her. She opened her mouth to say something and instead let out a surprised little sound of pain. A loose splinter had lodged itself in her middle finger while she was running her hands along the deck.
A splinter was something she had never had happen to her before, wood wasn't something she normally came into contact with, even when she was on land, it was normally the beaches she stuck around. Nearly none but the largest of the islands even had a forest on them. On inspection the splinter was surprisingly large and blood welled up around the cut. Straightening up from her stooped position she let her hand drop to her side ignoring the splinter. "Sorry I haven't introduced myself have I? My name's Alana... It was very nice of you to allow me on board. I've never been on a ship before... well not a working one anyway, I've only been on sunken ships" it was a weak attempt to make small talk and didn't seem to be going very well the human wasn't saying much.
(Apricot I wasn't exactly sure what the mermaids did with human males so I came up with my own spin on things what do you think? Sorry if the reply is a little short I had to quickly finish and get to class I look forward to your reply ^-^
Oh I also want to ask how are you enjoying the role play?)

Klavien shuddered with anxiety; as he listened to the mermaid ascend the ladder, was he making the right decision…? The water splashed violently under the impressive strength of the girl’s tail, before finally quieting down as she got nearer and nearer to the top. Well, there was no way to take it back now. Holding his breath as he waited for what felt like an eternity, the brunette readied himself for a fight.
Though, it wasn’t necessary for him to get in defense posture—the silverette really was harmless. “Did you acquire permission to come aboard from the captain?” He joked nervously when the girl hauled herself onto the deck, though it was obvious that she wasn’t really listening to him; as her eyes were wide with amazement as she took in the sight of the craft.
Quietly observing the stark-naked girl; who was studying the sundeck as if it held the secrets of the universe, Klavien found himself flushing a deep shade of cerise. Though, he didn’t blush often, the sight of the siren really got him hot under the collar. Resisting the urge to make some crude remark about how it was usually difficult to get a girl divested without promise of money—or commitment, Klavien cleared his throat. “Uh…” Scratching his neck, the brunette jumped when he heard the girl cry out.
Advancing towards her to see what was wrong; Klavien noticed the large, wooden fragment that was lodged in her finger. “It’s going to get infected.” He mused softly, reaching his hand out to grasp the girl’s hand; though, when she let it drop to her side, the brunette quickly snatched his hand away as if he’d been terribly burned.
The silverette’s voice was soft and friendly as she introduced herself to him. “Alana…” He whispered, marveling at how her beautiful name rolled off his tongue. Blinking when he realized she was still talking, Klavien straightened out his posture. She admiring the vast boat, and was also thanking him for his hospitality—or something to that effect.
Shrugging off his timidity, atleast for now, Klavien smiled back at her. “This is a rather standard vessel…the ones supplied by the government—those are the real beauties.” Glancing up at the moon, the brunette shoved his hands into the pockets of his filthy trousers. “I’m Klavien Françoise… by the way.” Turning his gaze back to Alana, Klavien couldn’t help but notice her splintered finger… it looked painful. “Your wound is going to get an infection if you don’t attend to it.” He murmured quietly, taking her delicate hand in his own.
Bringing it close to get a better look of it, Klavien made a quick examination. Given the size of the sliver of wood, it should be easy enough to just pull it out. Deciding not to delay the removal of the irritant any longer, the youth brought her petite hand close to his lips. “This is going to be a little uncomfortable; try not to flinch.” Baring his teeth, Klavien bit the tip of the splinter and pulled it out with a swift jerk of his head. Shuddering at the taste of it, the brunette quickly spit it out. “You should clean your hand—just to make sure you don’t catch the plague or something… if mermaids can get the plague, that is.” Feeling a little silly for what he had said, Klavien let go of her hand and looked to the ocean; it looked so menacing in the moonlight—especially, after he had seen all those mermaids dancing atop its surface.
After this, would he ever dare to sail across the ocean? Eyes widening as his train of thought skidded to a halt, he was struck with an epiphany… would their even be an afterward? He had just let the mermaid onboard, into his safe haven. Who’s to say she won’t kill him, here and now? Startled by his thoughts, Klavien backed away from Alana. What has he done!? He let her on the boat, and now she could run him through!
Just when he had thought she was harmless; here comes his paranoid delusions to ruin everything. Stumbling back, Klavien mentally berated himself for being so easily swayed by this creature's sweet voice.
((NinjaKitty: whoa! That's so cool! =3 I'm jealous, but also happy that you had fun. Maybe someday I'll get to go to a convention.
Honestly, I never really knew what Mermaids did to sailors--so, I think it's cool what you've come up with. Now, I know how mermaids make babies--sorta. I don't think your reply was short at all, as long as it isn't a one-liner, it's all good.

(Apricot trust me you aren't the only one enjoying this, every time I finish with a reply I await yours eagerly, checking and on and off the site a lot more then I normally will. I can't wait to see how this plays out ^-^. I'm so glad your enjoying it
I hope you don't grow bored with it O.O That happened once with this role play I was enjoying it was a real disappointment, I didn't even know there was something she didn't like, considering she didn't tell me ><)
Government ships? How large were they? Were they as large as some of the sunken ships? It was hard to resist the urge to just pepper the human with questions about his world. It felt as though questions were just filling and filling her to the brim and she couldn't ask them fast enough. Though there was probably no way he could answer all her questions anyway, he didn't know everything. Just as she didn't know everything about mermaids.
"Klavien.. it's a nice name" though not one I've ever heard before, unsurprising considering I've never really talked to a male before as the thought hit her she was filled with a sudden bout of nerves. Her first time talking to a human, and a male at that what do I say? He probably thinks me and my sisters a monster the thought made her oddly sad. What should she care what a human thought? He was just a human after all. Yet the thought didn't calm her, she was still left with a feeling of nervousness that was new to her and left her chatty and uneasy.
"Wait? What?... oh" Alana let out a soft exclamation, her hand right the cut with the wood in it, somehow with all that was running through her mind she had forgot about it, his mention of it brought the pain back with a vividness that had her wincing. Klavien picked up her hand, his hand was noticeably larger then her smaller one, nestling into his hand nicely. Oddly the feeling of his hand holding hers, warmth radiating from his helping to warm her cold hand, brought a tinge of color to her pale cheeks. The nervous feeling increased, her mouth opened and closed a few times but she didn't know what to say, even as he brought the tip of the splinter to his lips and tugged it out. The pain subsided to a dull throb that was easy to ignore. "Thank you Klavien that was very kind of you"
A word he said caught her attention, the plague? What's that?" she asked curiosity shining once more in her eyes, was that a human sickness? Mermaids really didn't get sick often but when they did it was often times painful. A few sure fire ways for a mermaid to die, aside from a human related death was sickness or child birth. "Is it a human sickness? Wait no of course it is. I mean uh how do you catch it? What does it do?" her voice trailed off as he suddenly dropped her hand a look of horror on his face.
For a strange reason the look on his face stung her, it looked like he thought her a monster or something. For reasons that eluded her she wanted him to like her, she wasn't a monster just doing what she was raised to do. Mermaids or well most mermaids didn't like humans, because humans were known to kill mermaids as well but Alana figured what else would she do in their situation. "I'm not a m..monster you know" she said softly swiping at her hair and pushing it away from her face where the wind blew it into her eyes. Unfortunately the hand she used was the cut one so a smear of blood stained her pale cheek and a few wisps of hair. "We just do what we have to, to survive but she said these last few words so low she knew he didn't hear her.
She took a few steps towards him she held out her hands in the universal sign of, I come in peace I have no weapons I mean you no harm. But she stopped after a few small steps, he looked horrified. Backing up she ended up bumping into something solid. Turning around her eyes lit up with renewed interest, it was the mast she had bumped into, running her uninjured hand along the weather beaten wood. It was large and sturdy, although she really didn't know how a ship worked, she did know that the mast held the sail which powered the ship. Her interest ebbed a bit when she looked back around and remembered Klavien.

((@Ninja Kitty; :XD I’m happy that you can put up with my large post, even fire back with equally large ones… aw, that’s so lame! <3 I promise I won’t desert you like that! :D Besides, I don’t think I can ever get bored! Pirates and Mermaids never go out of style, and neither does romance~ :P Besides, if things were to ever get stagnant you can always make the Mermaids take Alana back, so that Klavien will have to go through thick and thin to retrieve her.))
Klavien’s mind raced as he gazed into the girl’s eyes. She was so innocent, standing before him completely bare from head to toe; and unlike her sisters, nothing lustful spilled forth from her lips, no lies, no empty promises—only curious questions about the lands of humans and nervous squeaks… wait--she was anxious? His lips tingled, itching for him to say something soothing to her—to squash all of her worries. But, why was that?
Why did he long to make her feel welcome? Accommodated in a world too large and too gritty for someone like her—why did his blood boil when she flinched, or frowned? Why did he want to scoop her up into the protection of his arms, and keep her safe from the world, as if she were an armful of priceless jewels? How in the seven seas did she trigger such an emotional response from him; he hardly knew her!
Heart going at a staccato rhythm, he continued to observe the tiny creature that asked about the plague as if it was something new. She really was clueless—harmless as well; with her tiny, feminine frame and her radiant soft skin. If he really was so worried about her killing him, wouldn’t he have stolen away in the captain’s quarters? Why… he could go hide there right now—eventually, Alana would have to leave, as her sisters would worry. ‘What if she’s faster than I am?’ He tried to make an excuse, knowing full well that even Davy Jones could beat a mermaid in a race on solid ground.
‘You know… you wouldn’t have helped her aboard the ship, in the first place, if you were truly afraid of her.’ His conscious sneered bluntly. Klavien had been beaten to within an inch of his life by sailors, harlots, Navy men, and pirates—and yet, somehow, he always got out of the situation relativity breathing. If his nine lives were going to run out; they would have done so years ago.
Klavien smothered his pusillanimous thoughts, realizing that never before has he so openly displayed fear. He was always the first person to throw a fist, always the first to go charging into a situation headfirst; no matter how perilous, no matter the risk. ‘You’re going soft in your old age…’ He thought, biting back the urge to laugh awkwardly. He wasn’t that old; he’ll be twenty two in the summer, but—like the old saying goes—a few hundred stern floggings and almost being thrown overboard can really make a man want to reevaluate their way of life.
Straining his ears to catch Alana’s softly spoken words, Klavien felt his throat go dry. She sounded so distraught. His behavior—his unspoken words, it had upset her. She has been nothing but civil since before she climbed aboard, and here he was being more discourteous than a dead sailor at the dinner table! Chiding himself, he almost didn’t hear what she said about her kin and their will to survive. Truly, it wasn’t entirely their fault that they killed humans—sailors left them no choice! As whenever they caught mermaids in nets, they would do horrible things—torture them, dispatched them, treat them inhumanly, calling them sea monsters or slaughterers to justify their wrong-doings. If anything, the real reason why mermaids and humans could not co-exist; was the fact that they brought the worst out of one another.
Initially, Klavien did not stop tiptoeing backwards, even with his thoughts and Alana reassuring him. A bit of that leftover spineless-mentality was still controlling him; he did however come to a halt when the silverette accidently swiped a stray strand of crimson liquid upon her delicate features. Staring slack jawed at the blood that stained her cheek; Klavien unconsciously noted how it contrasted against her skin; reminding him faintly of his mother’s beloved vermillion neckerchief, and how he used to bury it in the snow whenever he visited his grandparents back in the old country for the winter.
Noticing how the girl advanced on him with extended her arms, horror flickered in Klavien’s crystal blue eyes, but for a completely different reason than before. She looked so delicate, so expectant—admittedly, her childish naivety was cute to him; but, adversely, it would get her in troubles far too big for him to guard her from… oh, goddesses, what if he couldn’t protect her? Stumbling back, the brunette tried to find his words. “Alana…!” He croaked, as he watched her retreat backwards and into the ship's mast.
Watching as she turned her attention to it, Klavien discarded any last shred of doubt and started towards the girl. Just as she turned towards him, apologetic ochre orbs shining in the moonlight, the brunette pulled her into an embrace. Her smaller form felt so fragile in his arms, he was so sure that if he squeeze her any tighter, she would shatter into a million tiny little pieces. He wouldn’t have the expertise to put her back together, if that happened!
Inhaling the strong scent of seawater that emanated from Alana’s soaked, silver tresses, Klavien sighed. This girl, she would be the death of him! “I’m sorry…” He whispered softly into the crown of her head, as his arms tensed and relaxed in a strange rhythm around her form. “I’m sorry, Alana.” The youth repeated, lifting his face out of her hair, so that she could hear his apology better. “I shouldn’t treat you like this—” He murmured, lifting a hand to thread it through her hair.
((For some reason, I think this post could stand to be longer. :?: Wow, so far, our post tally up an amazing 11,833 words! :D))

(Apricot really? how did you find that out? I'm not surprised though, I love how much detail you put into your character nothing like some role play partners I've role played with. Not to be mean but some people aren't very good >< though they really do try, like me I know I need work but I'm always trying to get better.
How long have you been role playing actually? As for me I've been role playing a few years on and off, it's only over the past year or so that I really got into it and got better. I look back on some of my old one's and I'm like man how much my writing as gotten better thanks to this. One thing I can tell you though is that your are an extremely good role player ^-^))
"What's taking her so long? Lola complained for what felt like the umpteenth time in the short trip from the ship down to their underwater kingdom. None of the mermaids could explain exactly how this happened but their underwater kingdom, most of it sat in an air pocket at the bottom of the sea, it was here that the sirens brought their capture.
The men were lounging out in various states of drunkenness, if they survived holding their breath long enough to get down to their home then they were given food and ale. If they didn't then there dead carcasses were drained and the blood drunken by the mermaids in their prime of fertility. The room in which the men were drained was a gruesome room, Mira only let a select few into, herself, Lola, and the cook Hana who actually took over the carcasses.
Hana was a large woman, in fact the only obese one among them, though still she was a handsome woman with her long dark hair, blue-gray eyes, and lovely gray scales that really shone silver when the light hit them right.
"Taking who too long darling?" Hana asked in her low husky voice, the large woman looked quite fearsome holding a large cleaver dripping blood she had just used to behead the corpses. Even Mira was a little uncomfortable around the woman, she actually seemed to enjoy this process more then getting the other, in Mira's opinion, more fun use out of the men.
"Damn Alana, she stayed behind to lure that one man out. I think you should have left me behind I would have had him here in an instant. He was a real cutie, and shouldn't have been left with such an inexperienced little thing..." Lola complained huffily. She liked the look of the man and Alana had never even talked to one before, what good could she get out of him.
"She needs the practice dear, she's still new at this" Hana rebuffed Lola trying to sooth the clearly annoyed beauty. "I'm sure she'll be back with him soon, after all do you remember her mother? What a beauty she was, and I have no doubt Alana will grow into the same beauty. She has this sweet little innocence about her" Hana continued unabashed when Lola flashed her a glare.
"Yeah her mother was a beauty, but she is this skinny little chicken with odd colored hair" Lola retorted meanly.
"Oh she is not, she's a beauty all right" Mira stated cutting off their conversation easily. "But Lola is right about one thing, she is taking a long time getting back maybe I should go check up on her" she mused playing with a few strands of her blood red hair.
"No let's give her some time more" Hana spoke up picking up a piece of cloth and wiping the blood off.
"No, no I agree with Mira let's go get her now" Lola said quickly perking up, she looked like she could dash out at any moment no doubt it wouldn't bod well for Alana if it was Lola that showed up.
"Alright, alright calm down I'll go and check on her" Mira said reluctantly, she planed on taking her good old time going about it. More to give Alana more time to do whatever it was she needed to do to get that boy off the ship. It's because Lola doesn't like Alana and knows she has an interest in the boy that she wants him so bad was the thought that flickered through her mind as she made the swim towards the ship. The one thing that surprised her as she got closer was the fact that she couldn't see Alana's form in the water. Oh I hope it's because I'm to far off to see her but even still a shudder of apprehension ran up her spine.
A soft little gasp of surprise slipped out of her, she turned towards Klavien only to be enveloped in strong arms, warmth seeped through her only now making her realize just how cold she was. In his arms she felt tiny her slender arms snaked up around his waist and she pressed closer against his warmth. It felt odd to be embraced by a human, yet even more oddly it felt right. "Klavien?..." she asked her voice no more then a whisper. Her head was resting on his chest, soaking his shirt with her hair. She could feel every breath he took, his heart beating and it lulled her into a sense of peace. "Why are you sorry?" she asked softly lifting her head to gaze up into his eyes.
She felt like she was drowning in it all, she didn't understand anything, him, why he brought out these strange feelings in her, not even what would happen, she knew nothing was going to be the same anymore. But in his eyes she found something that made her believe everything would be okay.
Mira's head burst out of the water dark blue eyes looking around frantically for Alana "where are you Alana?" she asked herself. She looked everywhere around the ship her splashing sounding like waves and drowning out the voices on deck. But when she drew to a stop just floating on the water she heard them. Soft voices coming from on the ship. "No, no that isn't what I think it is, she didn't go on the ship she isn't talking to the human" she was still speaking to herself when she saw the ladder and knew Alana was up there.
She sat there on the water debating her choices, should she go up on deck and pull the girl back or just call up to her and give her the benefit of the doubt. She had to make her decision soon because she knew Lola would no doubt come up to get her if she took to long. And if there was one thing Mira knew it was that Lola would never this go, she would make the girls life miserable.

((NinjaKitty: I have a word software on my laptop; which, is also why all my posts are spellchecked. :P Aw, I try. Though, most of the time, the details just make themselves up. :) I think you're doing just fine.
Five... six years non-stop, maybe? xD I don't even know. I can say, however, that I have a strong passion for writing, and no matter what; I always am pushing myself to become better. And whether you know it, or not, you've aided me in slowing down my jaded efforts. That's so cool, I'm glad that you're getting better, and I hope that we can continue to help eachother out~ Hehe, I don't know... ; - ; I keep getting pulled off by RL, and it's making my posts slower.))
Klavien had to strain his ears to hear Alana, as she was speaking so delicately. The silverette had said his name, and while she wasn’t cooing to him like many women before her, instead she sounded enquiring and uncertain—the youth still felt his cheeks warming, as blood rushed underneath the skin. There he goes; blushing again… and she didn’t even say anything—or was that just it? She needn’t to say much, as every conceivable utterance that could either be used to drum up this moment between them, or to explain it all away, had already been telepathically whispered, the very moment they embraced.
Feeling his pulse race, the brunette buried his face into the damp juncture that rested between Alana’s neck and shoulder. Muttering something against the smooth, damp skin, Klavien felt a swell of discomfort trying to make accommodations in his throat. “I’m apologizing for being so daft and insensitive…” He wanted to say, but instead, he settled for gulping audibly, as he tried his hardest to find his words again. Klavien loosened his hold on the girl’s frame just enough, so that he could meet her gaze.
Staring at her large, owlish auburn eyes, Klavien could read all of her thoughts—well… not exactly. But, it felt like he would, eventually, be able to; if he had the time to stare into the windows of her soul for the rest of eternity. A trifling portion of his mind spiraled off into a different direction; a route that made him ponder something… would Alana be able to live for that long, extensive duration of time? Was she not limited by the lifespan of humans—could she out live him?
His heart sank at the possibility of losing her before he even got to know her—before he grew to understand her; and mermaids alike. It was no doubt to him that Alana would notice how dramatically his countenance shifted, it was only a matter of time, with the way she was studying him so closely. Schooling his expression, the brunette opened his mouth to speak, but quickly snapped it shut when he heard the water stirring… that must have been a truly enormous fish swimming by.
Feeling his palms slickening with perspiration, Klavien felt his vision spotting with fear. If the mermaids had returned to retrieve Alana—uh, oh—he had left the ladder down for right for them! Like an invitation for meal time, the rope ladder slapped against the siding of the boat, shocking the brunette into action. Releasing the silverette from his hold, Klavien started towards the rail where he had haphazardly thrown the unsteady rope ladder.
Holding his breath as he peered over the side, Klavien caught a glimpse of the same shimmering vermillion hair that would haunt him for years to come. “A-Alana…” He said, stammering as he pointed between the rosy-haired mermaid that swam below, and the silverette. If not for being scared to death, the brunette would have laughed at how comical he looked right that very moment. “Goddesses, am I not the dullest cutlass in the armory.” Joking to himself to calm his frazzled nerves, Klavien found himself lurching forward to grasp the ladder before the siren got any daft ideas.
Securing the rough rope in both of his palms, he began heaving it up with all his might. It was needless to say that rope got rather heavy when it was wet. “Alana—help!” He yapped loudly, as he began to pull and yank at the rope fast enough to give himself some a few harsh burns here and there; though, it wasn’t like he cared for that, at the moment.

(Apricot: no worries take your time, RL beckons, I really enjoy role playing it helps my writing a lot surprisingly. That and it's just plan fun ^-^
How long do mermaids live actually? That's a good question.)
"They are taking to long, I'm going to check on them" Lola didn't wait for Hana's answer, the time of waiting had ended, taking off she swam fast for the surface. She would show Mira just how much better she was at this then Alana, by having that boy off the ship and in her arms before, she could say mermaid.
A decision made the lovely red head made for the ladder, there was no doubt about it Alana was up on deck talking and god knows what that human was doing to the naive silver haired beauty. I should never have left her alone she's to young to be doing this on her own what was I thinking. With a burst of energy the siren made a grab for the rope that started to be raised- oh no the human must have heard her swimming around. She made a mad grab for the ladder, that had risen just out of reach "Alana, what is he doing to you, just jump over the side and I'll take you home, your too young for this, I won't make you do this again not till your ready" her voice rang out over the waves beseeching Alana.
It was cold without his arms around her, but then she heard it as well, splashing louder then the waves, and a familiar voice calling out to her, but this voice instead of filling her with happiness shot her through with a shot of fear. Caught between Kalvien who was calling for her to help him, and Mira who was like a mother to her asking her to jump over the side, she was consumed with indecision.
Go against Mira, the one who had been like her mother for most of her life. But I can't just leave him either sometime in the span of time the pair had spent together she had reached a choice, she wanted to stay with him. Even if that meant going against her sisters. Kalvien was struggling with pulling up the rope rushing up to his side she aided him in pulling it the rest of the way up. The sight of Mira looking up at her with such shock and hurt on her face nearly made the little mermaids resolve crack. I'm sorry Mira.
"Alana?" Mira called out to her in a croaked voice, so much unlike the normal sweet as honey voice that was the voice she used everyday. Helping the human? Did the girl want to be human so bad that she would assist him so she could stay. I knew she always had a fascination with humans, but I never knew it was this bad. When I get her home I will never again let her near these humans. "Alana whatever this human has said to you to make you help him....." her voice trailed off as she heard splashing beside her. Oh crap, Lola
"Well lookie here" Lola called out in a singsong voice once her head broke over the water. All she had to do was glance between Mira's shocked face and Alana's tear stained one as she helped the handsome human haul up a ladder. "We did always know she loved humans but no one ever thought this much" the exotic beauty said meanly, her blue eyes glittering strangely with light from the moon. After all that had happened she might just be able to take control of the pod. After all look what Mira had let happen with Alana.
"Shut the hell up Lola" Mira snapped gaining back some composure "Alana dear you can't stay with the human on that ship forever, you need the water and eventually the food up there will run out. Please come back home we won't harm this human we will help get back to land, just please come back to us" her voice was desperate her eyes locked on Alana's small face, framed by silvery hair, silent tears falling.
The ladder was finally safely on deck, but she couldn't stop the tears, her surrogate mother was calling out to her asking her to come back. Each word felt like a knife stabbing her. But they did hold truth. The food on this ship wouldn't last forever, she needed the water and if she took him into the water no doubt her sisters would take him away and never let her see him again. There was no way that between the two of them they could man this ship and get it back to shore. There seemed to be only one choice, go with Mira, Mira was always good to her word. She would see Kalvien got back to other humans safely. You promise? her voice came out quavery the tears had come to a stop now, she didn't dare look at Klavien who stood beside her.
"Yes sweetie I promise, I will personally see to it that he gets back to the other humans, now please just jump over and come home" Alana's answer had filled her with sudden hope, she would do anything for her best friends daughter, who was like her own child.
(Apricot ha how's that for drama I love it ^-^ Alana will have no choice but to go back if she wants to save him)

(NinjaKitty: RL is boooooring and tedious~D: *Yoda voice* It fun is… =3 Ooo~ I think I’m going to look it up.)
Klavien jumped half-way out of his skin when he heard the redhead’s none-too-pleased sounding voice. Goddesses, she would kill him—rip him limb from limb if she ever got her hands on him. Eyes widening at the woman’s bold assumption, and her slightly preposterous proposal for the silverette to dive off the boat, the brunette tossed a glance over his shoulder at Alana. She stood there; immobilized by fear—was it qualms of disobeying her sister?
Was she going to abandon him for her sister? Though, it pained him more than he would admit to, he definitely would not put it pass her to do so. He understood the powerful influence that family held over their companions; and given that she was a fledgling, she would probably have a weaker resolve than most.
Expression faltering as the thought stayed in his mind, Klavien felt a swell of pain blossoming in his chest. Would he really be able to withstand the sight of her deserting him—? Diving into the blackened lagoon; back into her aquatic life, never to be seen by him… or anyone else if her sisters were wise… again? Sensing an unknown, yet so familiar, emotion bubble to the surface, the youth did his best to push it back down.
Drowning in his emotions, Klavien was genuinely surprised when Alana appeared beside him, tiny hands finding a place on the robe before she began tugging along with him. With her help, the rope slid higher and higher up the side of the vessel, until it flopped onto the deck with a loud, resounding noise that resonated pleasantly in the brunette’s chest. He—they were safe!
Preparing to gloat childishly, the brunette turned his softened gaze from the sprawled out twine to the silverette. “A—lana…” Klavien paused, breath catching in his throat as he took in the look of unfathomable distress that was etched into the girl’s features. Not only had she just openly defied someone so dear to her, but she disobeyed the other mermaid because of him—a human!
Opening his mouth, Klavien tried to find something to say. A joke, a tasteless insult, a brave defense for Alana’s defiance—anything would suffice at this point! Alas, he couldn’t find the strength with-in himself to utter atleast one paltry syllable, instead he croaked—like a frog, on its deathbed. Blinking wildly at his inability to vocalize his thoughts, Klavien realized with muted horror that he missed his chance to speak when another Mermaid surfaced.
Gaping as the two Sirens exchanged a few venomous words, the brunette found himself toddling over to Alana; though, he quickly halted his advances when the redhead speak again—her words were no less truthful than they were a method of convincing the silverette to return to them.
Hearing Alana speak up through her sorrow, Klavien couldn’t take his eyes off of her. She wouldn’t meet his gaze; she wouldn’t even look in his direction. Despair tore through him, forcing words from his lips before his could even blink. “A-are you going…?” He stammered; expression twisting into grief-stricken uncertainty.
(Oh, this is getting good! :))

(Apricot well compared to the role play? Yeah life would seem so much duller lol. The poor couple are going to be pulled apart >< but it makes for a really good role play huh
Oh and did you ever find out the lifespan of a mermaid?)
"I have to Klavien you know it's for the best, they will see to it that you get back to land with other humans was that really her voice? That soft little croak barely audible? Covering the small space between them she gave into an impulse pressing a swift kiss to his lips. Then without giving herself time to think about it ran up to the side and dove off, tears already spilling down her face again. The water didn't feel warm and inviting as it normally was, but cold and fearsome stealing her breath. She resurfaced near Mira unable to look up at the ship and the man she had just left behind.
Mira could see the pain on her face, it made her heart ache to do this to the girl but it had to be done. He was a human she was a creature of the sea it would never work out. "It will be better this way human, I'll be back later to take you back to the humans, there are some about a weeks swim away" the red head could see the pain that mirrored Alana's clearly on his face and shook her head. "It really is better this way human" she felt like a broken record, repeating the same thing over and over again in hope that the more times she said it, that somehow that would make it true. "Come my dear, lets get you home" Mira said kindly, surprised that in all of this Lola hadn't said a word.
The young mermaid couldn't leave without looking up at Klavien a last time, he stood there on the deck of the ship looking lost and forlorn, his very stance bespoke sadness echoing the feelings inside her, calling out to her. I'm sorry Klavien, but there wasn't anything else I could do. She hoped it was all conveyed in that one look she gave him, hoping to say it all with her large golden eyes. Tearing her eyes away she gave a curt nod to Mira, a signal she was ready to go now.
The image of his face stayed locked in her mind, the hurt, pained expression, the dejected stance. The sea which had always had the effect of washing her clean, making her feel whole and happy, couldn't do a thing to fill in the sudden gaping hole in her heart that leaving him behind had caused. Deeper the trio went into the water, all of them silent, one scheming, one half relieved half in pain, the last the one swimming in back silver hair streaming out behind her in pain, pain literally radiated from her that the other two could feel.
It wasn't long before they were back home, Alana couldn't look at any of the other mermaids who all kept giving her curious expressions, instead she headed straight to her room wanting nothing more then to get away from all of them, she couldn't get his face out of her mind, she wanted to go back to him. But this had to happen, this was for the best... right?
Mira watched Alana tears pricking her eyelids, she didn't want to cause her baby pain, but there was nothing she could do. Instead of returning to the human she went to check on the other mermaids, all of them lounging in the air room. This is what they called the room that had an air pocket, at least this was the largest one, a few rooms of the palace were like this. The kitchen branched off from the room the men were kept in and Alana's own room. She had chosen that room when she was small and Mira never had the heart to squelch the little girls excitement.
"Mira what's going on? Lola just came back spouting some odd tale about Alana being in love with a human or something Kiya the next smallest mermaid aside from Alana herself a dark skinned, red eyed beauty asked running up to her on two strong legs, she had been lounging at the side of the kind Marshall, all the men were now in a drunken stupor.
"Lola is just making up stories again, but I will ask that everyone leave Alana to herself for awhile, this outing didn't treat her well, I don't think I will be taking her out on another" the red head said firmly casting a glare at Lola who smiled back smugly from her spot at the side of the captain. From the look on Kiya's face she wasn't exactly convinced but didn't pursue the subject.
Mira decided not to go back to the human tonight, but she had no doubt Alana didn't even want to see her right now. "Taia" she called out to the strongest among them. "Just go up and watch Alana's room please" she saw the glint of surprised suspicion in those light brown eyes but didn't explain herself.
Sobs tore at her chest, making her gasp for breath. Somehow she gained a semblance of control and glanced out of her room not a wit surprised when she saw Taia there as a sort of guard. She knew as an unspoken agreement that she had just given up her freedom, Mira would have an eye on her at all times, never to be left alone again. Just in case she got any strange ideas to sneak away to be with the human
(Apricot I can't wait to see what's going to happen O,O)

(NinjaKitty: I need to become a Mermaid—or I need to find a compassionate child of pirates. :( I feel so bad for the two of them, but you’re right—a little drama makes for an interesting Role Play. :XD
They don’t really have a definitive lifespan—either, they live just as long as we do, or they live for hundreds of years. :P You’ll have to choose.)
Hearing the silverette’s voice made Klavien’s eyes sting with tears. “A-Alana… I—but…” He doesn’t know what he’s struggling to say; but, he croaks nonetheless. She was going to leave him. “No…” Feeling crystal tears flow at liberty down his cheeks, the brunette choked out a quiet sob, before gritting his teeth. Goddesses, he wasn’t crying… was he? Shredding tears over a girl he only knew for a few moments—it stunned him more than he could consciously comprehend. The last time he openly wept was when he received the news of his parents… or rather, days after he finally caught up to the overwhelming information that was unloaded on his already crumbling mind.
Clenching his eyes shut, Klavien worked hard to stifle his unstable breaths. Opening his glassy eyes when he heard the sound of tiny feet scampering across the wooden deck, the youth only had a split second to take in what was happening; lips, soft and cold pressed against his own. And then, in a flash, it was gone. His lips tingled—burned white hot like the sun upon tender skin. It was a sizzling sensation that came from her quick peck, and he wasn’t sure if he could live without caressing her lips again, and again; until his jawbone cracked into a million pieces and fell off—though, even with that, those fragments would have to scatter into the furthest corners of the universe.
Touching his fingers to his feverish skin, Klavien watched thunderstruck as the silver hair beauty bounded towards the railing and leapt over it with athletic grace. The splash that her body made upon impact with the water sent a cold chill throughout the youth’s body, and just then did he realize how much he missed her petite body in his arms. She was so warm compared to the frigid squalls that were gusting by. Shivering as Goosebumps erupted over his thoroughly battered skin, Klavien diverted his eyes to the sky. It was pitch black, gloomy and infinite; aside from the luminescent stars that dangled up there.
Blinking the tears out of his eyes, Klavien trained his hazy stare upon the mermaids when he heard the rosy haired siren spoke to him. She tried to reassure him, telling him things that she thought he would have wanted, or needed, to hear. Growled low in his throat, the youth wanted nothing more than to dive in after Alana. Cursing Poseidon for crafting these beautiful creatures, and their stupid rules, Klavien stared down at Alana. Taking in her expression—the look in her eyes told him a thousand things—his heart ached all the more agonizingly. It felt like it was tearing—ripping grotesquely and he was sure that it did; at some point, split into two halves, as heat spread throughout him. From his chest cavity, to his abdomen, to the very tips of his toes, his body prickled unpleasantly at the new sensation.
It wasn’t nearly as inviting as the warmth one felt when enveloped in a warm quilt held by their parent. Nor was it as captivating as the radiating heat from a fire lit under the harvest moon. Hades—it wasn’t even remotely like the balmy summer breeze that swirled around the parched sailors who hung around the taverns. It was hellish; hot and unrelenting. Pure torturous agony like one can’t even imagine. Clutching a hand upon his chest at the pain resonating there, Klavien hissed through his bared teeth.
This feeling—it was the kind of excruciating emptiness that he wouldn’t even wish upon his worst enemies. Never would he dare to curse the numerous courtesans that hit him, nor the jailers that locked him away—not even those conceited navy men that had drugged him that one time and did goddesses knows what to his unconscious body.
It was just that horrendous.
Fresh tears filled his steely-blue eyes, as he watched Alana disappear into the deep, dark depths of the seemingly endless ocean. Sniffling indignantly when he was sure the mermaids were gone, Klavien felt himself collapse under the weight of his pain—emotional and physical. He was beaten mercilessly two nights in a row, pieced back together by some ham-handed doctor, manhandled by some overzealous would-be pirates, and then forced to experience emotions that hadn’t been stirred to life since he was a child. Goddesses, it was so much to bear at once.
Trembling from the utter exhaustion, Klavien was unable to fight the Sandman’s best efforts to lull him to sleep. The last thing he remembered before going under, was how fast he fell to the sundeck… the heavens seemed to be racing out of his line of sight faster than the speed of light, but in actuality, his eyes were just rolling into the back of his head, and he was fainting from sleep deprivation.
His dreams haunted him, mocking him, scolded him for not fighting for Alana… Though, he quickly argued that there wasn’t anything he could do; and that you can’t save those who don’t want to be saved—no matter how beautiful or and morose they look. Despite his somewhat solid sense of reason; his mind was faster to respond to him with venomous words about his cowardice behavior. ‘You’re a disgrace to the Françoise name, Klavien!’ His conscious roared viciously, and it had feet, it would be kicking the stuffing out of him. ‘Father wouldn’t have allowed this—do you not remember the things for mother!? Or, were you too intoxicated by all of the opium and cider you were so fold of?’
Even in the clutches sleep, a growl rumpled deep in Klavien’s chest. “Who are you to talk to me like that? You were along with me every step of the way! If you really didn’t enjoy my lifestyle; you sure as hell didn’t show it!”
A pregnant silence encased the confines of his mind; and for the first time, Klavien found that he wasn’t thinking— not about the loss of his possible first-love, not about the ghastly wounds that decorated his body… he was—or appropriately—wasn’t thinking about anything at all. It was just as bizarre as it sounded, and the youth was absolutely sure that he didn’t like it, not one bit. “What would dad do?” He timidly asked himself, hoping to coax his conscious out of its angry stupor.
‘Well, for starters, he wouldn’t have let this happened!’ It snapped angrily, and then came the silence once more… in addition; it was more uncomfortable than before. The brunette’s body rolled over from its original place, and a spike of pain shot through him. Groaning, Klavien find himself being pulled from his mind. “Wait—no! You’re supposed to tell me what to do!” He cried out, as he was slowly hauled from the world of slumber.
‘… He would go after her, Klavien… he wouldn’t give up without a fight.’ Was its sudden reply; ringing through his mind like a church, as Klavien was ripped from sleep.
Bolting upright, Klavien found himself gazing up at the bright midmorning sun. Holding a hand over his face to shield his eyes from the blinding sun, the youth groaned. He was asleep longer than he expected. Rubbing the sandy grains of sleep from his eyelashes, the brunette hauled himself to his feet—or atleast, he tried to. Pain shot through his body like thousands of tiny agonizing lightning bolts. It was as if Zeus held a personal grudge against his nervous-system, or something.
Squawking as he tumbled back to the wooden planks, Klavien scowled. “Stupid dishonest Mermaid…” He grumbled, referring to the redhead who had promised to take him back to land—or, ‘to the humans’ as she put it. Cursing himself for bringing those sirens back to the forefront of his mind, the brunette realized that he was too tired—and to dehydrated—to weep anymore. Sighing at his misfortune, Klavien just laid there, head turned to his right so that he could see the sails fluttering innocently in the wind.
Glaring daggers at the sails, Klavien hoped they would catch alight; that why they could set the whole ship ablaze and put an end to his misery. Clenching his eyes shut at the thought of taking his own life, the youth wondered why he was so brokenhearted. Alana was beautiful, curious, and from what he could tell, she was good-spirited; but, there were plenty of fish in the sea. Abruptly, Klavien found himself choking on a breath. Just thinking about moving on, caused his throat to tighten considerably.
It felt like he was being asphyxiated by a noose that was tied tightly around his neck, and dragged behind several of the world’s strongest horses. ‘No, they aren’t! She’s the only one—I need her!’ His mind and body yelled at him in unison, causing him to choke out another painful breath.
It was as if his ribcage was completely shattered, and that to breathe meant that his lungs were going to expand and ultimately get punctured by one of the cracked, displaced bones. And, though, his ribs really were broken and he really was just hyperventilating alot too hard; he contributed the pain to heartbreak. Rolling onto his side in an attempt to alleviate the pain, Klavien gasped wildly for air. ‘Alana!’ His five senses called out, pleading for the silverette to return—he was desperate to touch her skin, hear her feather light voice, see her smiling at him with those soft lips that he wanted to kiss all over again, smell the ocean that clung to her silver tresses.
Saline stung his eyes as tears forced themselves to out, despite his best efforts to keep from crying. He couldn’t take it, he felt like he was dying—literally and metaphorically, and he prayed to the gods and goddesses that he half-heartedly revered to free him of these wretched feelings. “Please…” He sobbed breathlessly, as he gripped at his chest.
They seemed to have heard his silent prayer, and took pity on him, because just as he was teetering on the edge of—who knows? He heard a voice; though, given his current state, he could hardly make out what they were saying. Who else was on the ship with him? Everyone jumped off! “Can you hear me?” The person asked, as they appeared in his line of sight. It was a woman! She had long, golden blonde hair that skimmed to her lower back like fine silk, and two lustrous brown eyes that were filled with concern.
Klavien was gasping and quaking like a fish out of water, but even that couldn’t stop him from nodding. ‘Yes, yes! I can hear you!’ He screamed in his head, as he stared at her with fraught, watery-eyes.
The woman that knelt down by his side was dressed only in a white, cotton nightshirt, which he found himself pressing his face into as the blonde lifted him onto her lap. “I see that you’re at the end of your tether, no need for the dramatics.” She spoke a little louder than necessary, but volume aside; her voice was as welcoming as a blanket. “Eric told me about your condition,” She said, skimming her hands along Klavien’s abdomen; as if she was feeling around for damage.
Tears trickled down his face fast, as he was taken over by the pain this strange woman was putting upon him. Sure, she was feeling for the broken ribs; gauging how she was going to get him breathing properly, but that didn’t mean that it didn’t hurt like it was nobody’s business. “S-Stop it!” He yelped when her fingers pressed into an especially tender spot of his torso.
Noting Klavien’s extreme reaction, the woman exclaimed—“Found it!” and pulled her hands away. Out of nowhere in particular, she produced a roll of gauze and slowly began to ease him upright. “You’re going to have to help me out on this one, kid.” She stated coolly. “You think you can sit up?”
The brunette grunted in response, and quickly began to right himself; too slow and they’d be there forever, too fast and he would regret it immensely… it was horrid. Eventually, though, he was sitting up and the blonde was working to wrap each and every inch of the bandaging around his diaphragm. “It’ll be over sooner than you’ll know.” She had assured him moments earlier. Well, he knows and it’s not over yet.
Biting his battered bottom lip as he tried to stifle each and every groan, hiss, and sob he made, Klavien tried to put his mind at ease by thinking of something else. “How are you still here?” He said, out of the blue, tossing a glance over his shoulder at the woman patching him up. She wasn’t nearly as beautiful as Alana, but her soft features and larger-than-life eyelashes were nice to look at.
“What do you mean?” The blonde asked, flaxen eyebrows knitting together with confusion.
Klavien grunted loudly, as she pulled at the bandages with unexpected strength, making sure they were extra tight before moving on. “I mean, how you are still up here, with me, when everyone else is gone… I didn’t even see you when I was brought aboard.”
“Ahh…” She mumbled, chewing her lip in concentration. “Well, for starters; you were down for the count most of your time on-board…” Rolling her eyes when the brunette shrugged his shoulders and murmured something under his breath, she continued. “And, secondly—I was asleep last night, when those accursed Mermaids came around; caterwauling those noisy tones of theirs’.”
“But, some of the others’ were sleeping, too—” Klavien started, mind wandering to Alana, but his statement and his thoughts were quickly interrupted.
“—Legends say that their Siren Song doesn’t work on women—or atleast, they aren’t supposed to…” The blonde shrugged, as if what she had said made total sense; which it did, sort of. “Besides, even if I was bewitched, I was too exhausted to get out of bed…” And, as if to add to her statement, she yawned like a lion.
“Why?” Klavien asked dumbly before wincing. “You must sleep like a stone; because, goddesses, there was more noise than you could possibly imagine being made last night, and you slept through that just fine.” His words received him a swift smack on his side, the woman’s willingness to inflict pain on him was making the brunette livid.
“Well, if you must know—” She sighed bitterly, tying the remaining gauze into a knot. “I’m with child, and it has been harder on me than I had initially expected…” Sitting back to admire her handiwork, the blonde dived back in to double the knot; just to be sure. “It’s taking a huge toll on my body, and if I’m not lazing about because my feet are sore, I’m green around the gills or I’m hungry as a beast!”
Klavien’s eyes widened considerably. “You-you’re what?” He stammered, unsure how to feel about what he had just heard. When the blonde repeated herself, and then swatted him in the back of the head for not listening, the brunette’s expression fell into that of deep despair. This just keeps getting better, and better!
(Something amazing, I’m sure!... oh, and if you reached the bottom... *Gives you a cookie* Sorry for such a long post--it's 2,542 words--I just got so into it, ya know?)

(Apricot dang that is a huge post, I can understand though sometimes the posts have a way of writing themselves though, so it just ends up being long.
For this role play I will make mermaids have a human life span, it makes more sense
Oh and what do you mean you need to become a mermaid? Or find a compassionate band of pirates? Is that in referent to the role play or actual life? Lol cause I would love either or.)
”Alana honey I’ve got some food for you…. Dear you have to eat something” not expecting an answer the cook wasn’t surprised when the heart broken girl stayed silent. ”Mira left to go take him back to the humans.. so you know he’ll be okay.” The effort fell flat as even that didn’t work in drawing the silverette out of her room. ”I’ll just take this with me, when you’re ready honey I’ll have it waiting in the kitchen” heavy at heart, shaking her great length of dark hair, the cook took the untouched tray back to the kitchens only stopping once to have a word with Taia who stood guard outside Alana’s rooms. Though how Mira could think the girl would sneak away with all the mermaids around was beyond her.
”Still here? I though you would have left already, aren’t you worried the human will perish if you don’t take him back to his people soon?” the cook didn’t look up from her work, sensing more than anything else the presence of the leader. Knowing as well the pained look on the leaders face, inside the mermaid was in turmoil. But then as well she should be, the cook loved little Alana if the human made her happy why couldn’t she be with him? The cleaver sliced easily through the fish beheading them and slicing them apart in a few deft chops. The swings held a little more force then was needed her anger surfacing. Anger at the mermaids for such stupid rules, anger at Mira for putting poor Alana in this situation, and still more anger at the pods leader for not letting the poor girl have her heart’s desire.
The cook remembered a time when she had fallen for a human, he was a daring pirate captain tall, tan, and oh so handsome. She had been young starry-eyed and naïve, and had fallen head over heels. But like what had happened with Alana the two were kept apart, the captain had he moved on? As for Hana, she had never truly gotten over the loss of him. Since then she had never taken another man, choosing instead to doctor and cook for the sisters who had ripped her away from him. Did she hate them though? No, there was reasons the mermaids had such strict rules about mermaids and humans especially for one so young as Alana, she wasn’t ready for such things, things never ended well for a mermaid who fell in love with a human. Mira’s own mother was a testament to that, and surly Mira remembered it well. Mira’s had inherited her mother’s fiery red hair and sweet disposition.
Back when Mira was a little girl, her mother had fallen in love with one of their captives, Mira’s father, everyone thought he loved her as well he stayed with the Pod for years the little red head was a few years old before her mother left taking the father back to the humans. Leslie, Mira’s mother, thought she and her love would set up a home where they could all live together and be happy. But after months of waiting nearly a year had passed before Leslie came back deathly ill. She told the cook who was older then, about how after she and Mira’s father had reached shore he had left her on land. Alone and confused she fell victim to horrors rape, a brothel house. Seems the man had taken her far inland before ditching her, needing to make money to get back to the sea, Leslie had taken a job at a brothel selling her body to all the men who wanted her. By the time enough money was saved up, Leslie had contracted an illness that would eventually take her life.
Maybe it was this that drove Mira to such extremes when it came to Alana, the woman who saw the little silverette like a daughter, didn’t want to see the same thing that happened to her mother happen to her daughter. The thought sent a pang of sadness through the cook, such sadness such heartbreak all because of one bad human, a human that forever made the leader disbelieving of anything that had to do with humans. Even to go so far as to keep Alana separate from a human male she clearly had given her heart to. While some didn’t believe in love at first sight, the cook certainly did after all that’s what had happened with her and while she couldn’t be with him. She wanted to make sure Alana had her chance to. There wasn’t a way from her to help her right now though. With a loud sigh she set the cleaver aside, which involved stabbing it into the counter with a strength that scared some. ”Well? Why haven’t you left to take the boy back yet?” Hana asked the captain catching the leader’s eye with a stare that would quell a few mermaids, but not the leader.
”I’m worried about our Alana, she hasn’t even once been out of her room since last night, Hana do you think she’s…… in love with the human or something?” the words seemed forced as if in her wildest dreams she couldn’t understand why on earth Alana could care about a human. From her experience humans were expendable, just get what you need from them, and then get rid of them. Never get attached to them because they would only use you.
”Course she is, want to know the reason the girl hasn’t even set a foot outside her room? It’s because her heart is broken, I know the feeling you know the feeling. Remember when you lost Alana’s mother? Your best friend and you couldn’t come out of your room for days? That’s how she is feeling broken, clearly she loves him or she wouldn’t have helped him…. Yes Mira I know Lola spread the story the instant she got back, and even I hear gossip.” the cook cut Mira off as she opened her mouth, Lola had been spreading the story about Alana’s love of humans to all the mermaids by now. Some questioned Mira’s decision in letting her go on that trip, some think maybe she didn’t keep a close enough eye on the girl. But the overall theme here was the mermaids were all wondering about Mira, maybe it was time for a change in leadership and Lola was ripe for the taking of it.
The red head knew clearly the things being said about her, and knew exactly who had put these doubts in the heads of her sisters. Lola had started to become a thorn in her side, the woman wanted control of the pod, but she was to rash, to irrational, with the dark exotic mermaid as leader there was no guessing what could happen. Especially to Alana, it was no secret Lola saw her as competition and if she could keep her on the bottom, then the girl could never be a threat to her leadership and influence within the group. ”I’m leaving now… just be sure to get some food inside Alana, I know she hasn’t eaten…. Maybe what I did was wrong but I can’t go back on my work now Hana, how would that look to the others. My leadership could be questioned even more than it already is” Mira stated simply voice sounded as exhausted as she felt, both inside and out. But she needed to keep her promise to Alana and take the human back to his people.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The voice offering food did nothing to tempt the girl out of her depression, the pain was like a hand was squeezing her heart of every drop of blood in her body, wringing her dry. How could she do that, the image of his face wouldn’t leave her mind. The hurt and heartbreak, somewhere in the dullness of her senses she heard a rumble and realized it was the sound of a stomach. Her stomach reminding her she needed to eat. Don’t want to eat, what’s the point really? Klavien I’m so so sorry, I hope… you can find happiness but the thought of him finding someone else to be happy with sent such a sharp stab of pain through her heart she gasped, her stomach rumbled again more forcefully this time. Not asking but demanding that she pay attention to it, fill it. The bright light hurt the girl’s sensitive eyes that had become accustomed to the dark of the room. Taia was still standing guard; didn’t she know Alana didn’t have the energy to go anywhere? Drained, dead both inside and out that’s how she felt the ocean felt like a cruel, vast, endless nothing that was ready to swallow her whole, sweep her away and never again see the light.
Passing Taia the shadow of a girl made her way to the kitchens, where the cook sat making a meal for the pirates and the mermaids lounging in the other room. The silverette didn’t even want to look at any of her sisters, or their newest pets, sitting down at the table her head sunk onto her arms, not even looking up when a plate of food was set down near her arm. Food wasn’t tempting her, but then why did she come down to the kitchen if not to eat? The cook placed a comforting hand on her head stroking the silky tresses lightly. Now she knew why she had come down, to draw comfort from a woman who had been there her whole life.
”Eat something honey, I know you’re hungry I can hear that stomach from here please” the cooks voice was like a soothing balm, although nothing could heal the gaping hole, her voice went a long way in drawing the girl out of her stupor. A loud creaking sound coming from the chair next to the silverette was the cook settling her large frame on the chair. ”Lovey I have a story to tell you, it’s a lot like yours actually…. When I was young I was in love with a handsome young pirate, ah it was love at first sight. He was beautiful, you know in a manly way.. but as you well know mermaids and humans aren’t allowed to be together so me and him were ripped apart and he was sent away. To this day I never know what became of him, if he moved on and started a family. Or.. died” the very thought of him dead sent a shudder of pain through her frame. Even now the cook’s heart belonged to her long lost pirate.
Alana’s voice came out as a croak ”why does this hurt so badly Hana? I don’t even know him that well why does my heart feel like it’s been torn out of my chest? When I was with him I felt whole, and now I feel like a piece of me is gone” Hana didn’t say anything just offered her a piece of fish, which she finally took and nibbled on. The food filled her empty stomach, but her heart was the one empty now not her stomach.
”It’s simple honey like I loved my pirate, you love your sailor boy” Hana said in her husky voice, unlike all the other mermaids bell like tones. ”I know it hurts honey, trust me I know but things will work out for you lovey I just know it” the cook sounded so sure of herself, as if she could see the future and she saw Alana and Klavien together again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Up to the surface the red head climbed, the water cleared her mind by the time she surfaced near the ship; she knew what she had to do. There was no way she could go back on her word, the only thing she could do was take him back to his people. ”Human, I’m here to keep my word, are you ready to go back to the other humans? If you ready a boat I am sure I can pull you back. Or if you want to get back even faster jump in and I shall swim with you back” her voice rang out in the still morning, not even seagulls cluttered the clear blue skies.

(NinjaKitty:I’m disappointed with myself for not making one to match. D: I just didn’t have the time to think~ </3
Sounds good to me. :)
I was talking about RL, but—=3 Yeah. LOL!)
Klavien was still reeling from the woman’s confession, when she had scooped herself off of the deck with a loud yawn and a tired wave of her hand. “It’s going to be a while until the others’ come looking for us. We might as well try to get some sleep.” She spoke quietly as she trudged towards the crew quarters.
“W-wait! What do you mean the others?” Klavien choked out, as he carefully scrambled to his feet. “And how are you so calm, knowing everyone is gone?” Biting his tongue when the woman came to an abrupt halt, the youth wondered if he had struck a chord. Observing the woman quietly as her shoulders tensed, and her hands clenched into tight fist, he felt his blood race. Didn’t she refer to the heavily-accented physician on the first-name basis? What if he was—? Oh, goddesses...
Klavien’s mouth went dry and tears of sympathy pricked his waterline. “Was doctor Marshall…?” He started to say, but his voice cracked with emotion. He could relate all too well with losing someone—After all, she had just left before sunrise—leaving him freshly brokenhearted and almost without reason to exist—almost. If he could survive the loss of his parents; he could get over the little Mermaid, right? The way his heart skipped a beat did nothing to verify his thoughts.
Toddling over to the immobile beauty, Klavien held his hand tightly to his chest; as if to stop his heart from beating at its staccato pace. Feeling somewhat faint; whether it was from holding his breath so long, because of the uncomfortable pressure that the tightly-pulled bandaging around his torso caused; or because he was trying to hold his emotions at bay, the brunette put his hand on the woman’s shoulder. “Miss…”
The blonde shrugged his hand off with a grunt. “Don’t call me that. You make me feel old.” Her voice was heavy with grief, and even though she tried to hide it, Klavien could hear it loud and clear. “The name is Evangeline … Marshall.” She breathed shakily, bowing her head to hide her face under her flaxen curls. “Erick is—was my baby brother…” Scrubbing face with her shaky hands, she let out a pained sound.
The pair was enveloped in a blanket of silence, before Evangeline spoke up again. “That kid was so hell-bent on becoming a doctor. He joined the navy under the flag at thirteen—he thought he was ready to lay down his life to save those of his fellow man.” Turning somewhat so she could stare at Klavien, she grimaced. “Those cowards left him to die on his first day away from the harbor. It was a miracle that Samuel was his commanding officer. He saved Erick’s life—and cared for him until the kid was truly old enough to look after himself.”
The brunette gritted his teeth; part of him yearned to hear more—his subconscious begged for him to let her finish her story, the other half dreaded the next statement that was going to escape from her trembling lips.
“Those Mermaids—if only I could have saved him for those Mermaids…” She sobbed, unable to hold back her sorrow anymore. Her shoulders quaked as the floodgate broke under the massive wave of emotions. Burying her warm, flushed face into her sweaty hands, she cursed the gods for their reserved mercy. “I would slay those Sirens with my bare hands, if I could!” Evangeline roared, sinking to her knees as she beat at the sturdy, wooden deck with all her strength. Tresses the color of gold twirled fiercely in air, as she trashed and hollered; pounding her hands upon the deck, until they bled from the gashes that tore across her palms—knuckles—fingers.
Klavien watched in overwhelming shock, as the once-energetic woman broke down in front of him. The youth’s mouth hung open, as he desperately searched for something to say. Goddesses… he wanted no more than to reach for her, console her with human touch; raise her spirits and chase away her grief. But—he couldn’t… his body had tensed up completely; immobilized by a torrid of his own dejected emotions that threatened to take him under. If not for Alana’s wicked sisters taking Evangeline’s brother—down to his dreadful waterlogged death, never to be seen again… “Eva—” Klavien squeaked, as he moved to catch the blonde’s wrist to prevent her from damaging her hands further.
“Let go of me!” Evangeline snarled and swore, desperately fighting in vain to free her hands. “Let go, damn it…!” Sobbing roughly, as she struggled against Klavien’s impressive strength, the blonde threw her elbows sharply. The jab connected with the brunette’s chest, and sent him tumbling to the deck in pain. The older woman screeched at the top of her lungs, as she tore herself from Klavien’s grasp.
Forcing down his violent reaction to the unrelenting pain, the brunette let out a pained sound escape his throat, before throwing himself onto Evangeline; knocking her back down to the ground with a loud thump. They both wrestled roughly for what felt like hours, until final, she gave up her struggle. And though her body quavered violently with fury, her expression softened dramatically; no longer was she gripped with fury—only despondency. Tears streamed down her face as she stared up at the space above. Was Erick up there—in the Celestial Kingdom that they were raised to believe in? Were the angels rejoicing in his arrival, playing him songs upon lyres that made the only the prettiest, most ethereal melodies? Clenching her eyes shut as visions of a darker, more ominous place of rest flitted into her mind.
Klavien fought with all his ability to keep from crying—the persistent melancholy, the crippling despair… he couldn’t take it anymore; and he wouldn’t let it strip him of his control over himself. Gritting his teeth, the brunette watched her. The violent storm that was brewing in her chocolate brown eyes reminded him of the pain that swirled in his heart. They both had lost an irreplaceable person that was dear to them… and there was no way to get them back.
One was presumably deceased—up there amongst the stars. The other was forever imprisoned in an underwater kingdom… Alright, maybe he was thinking a little melodramatically. Realizing that he was staring, Klavien redirected his gaze. “I’m sorry, Evangeline…” He blurts out, rolling off the woman; who just lies there silently, watching the sky as the clouds rolled by.
Gathering his composure, Klavien was unsure of how he should feel. Embarrassment for invading Evangeline’s space, Fury for those bloodthirsty Mermaids, and Anguish for—yeah, he doesn’t think he wants to bring it up. The sounds of the fluttering sails, the active ocean—the boat creaking as it rocked along the waves. The brunette breathed in the strong smells of the ocean, before smoothing his hands across his breastplate bandages. “How’re you—How’s the baby?” He spoke timidly, looking over to Evangeline. "...What did you mean about the others?"
Evangeline bowed her head. "I don’t know—” She offered weakly, before changing the subject. “--the other pirates; the rest of our party..." Scratching her cheek, the blonde suddenly bolted upright. Her eyes were alight with caution and vigilance. “Did you hear that?” She asked, looking around as if she had lost her mind. The both of them grew silent, so that they could listen out for the aforementioned noise. Nothing—they were met with absolutely silence.
“Hear what?” Klavien murmured, blinking dumbly at the blonde, before getting to his feet. “What did it sound like?” Straining his ears to pick up any further sounds, the youth staggered towards the siding of the vessel. Raising a questioning brow, he peered over the edge and was met by the sight of the red-haired Mermaid. Swearing under his breath, he listened intently to her words as they resonated throughout.
Klavien opened his mouth to speak; but, was quickly interrupted when Evangeline appeared beside him, spitting hateful words at the Mermaid. “How is he to believe you, wretched creature?” The blonde hollered venomously, as she pointed an accusing finger at the Siren. “Goddesses, help me. I would jump in after you and—”
“Evangeline—Enough! She’s not here to kill us…” Klavien interrupted, holding a hand up to wave off the blonde’s totally harmless, but completely loaded threats. “—I would hope.” He added grimly, regarding the Mermaid with uncertain blue eyes. “I’m not exactly eager to jump in there with you.” Folding his arms across his chest bitterly, he frowned. “How am I sure you won’t drag me down with the rest of them…? What about her?” Throwing a glance over his shoulder at the blonde, he leaned against the railing. "Where's Alana?" The question tore through his throat before he could stop it.
(I enjoyed your post immensely. The detail, the length—I’m proud of you, too!

(Apricot don’t worry about that your post was still really good, detailed and fun to read. I like the new character and it gives me a new look at the mermaids lol man they were awful weren’t they?)
”How can you be so sure Hana? After everything that happened I would be shocked if Mira ever let me go out on my own again. So unless I can magically turn invisible one day I’m basically stuck here in a prison made by the people that love me. And even if she let me out on my own and by chance I found him again who’s to say he wouldn’t have moved on? ” bitterness saturated her voice, the frustration and heartache of it all clear on her expressive little face. She just knew she was going to be stuck in this palace for the rest of her life. Mira would never let the silverette out on her own; there was a chance she would go off in search of the human. Or maybe Mira hoped that if kept away from the human long enough Alana would eventually give up on him, which maybe that was true. Wouldn’t Klavien eventually move on find another woman? Did he even feel the same way for her that she felt for him?
”Honey you’re a very resourceful girl, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned from you it’s that you have always had the ability of sneaking away without our knowledge. Remember the time no one could find you for hour, we searched everywhere for you, and then you came back lugging all of those human items with you?” the incident stood out clearly in the cooks mind. Mira had, had all the mermaids in an uproar searching for the little girl. She was supposed to be at lessons with Ali learning certain things all mermaids needed to know. From what Ali said one moment Alana had been right there the next she was gone. Everyone had yet to learn how the girl had been able to sneak out so well, with no one knowing where she had gone at all. And that hadn’t been the last time, over the years Alana had snuck out on multiple occasions and still no one knew how she did it.
”Yeah I remember that, I didn’t do it intentionally, just didn’t want to have to spend hours learning things I already knew, I wanted to have some fun. Mainly go explore one of the sunken ships” the ghost of a smile flinted across the girls face as she remembered so well the time Hana spoke of. It was five years ago, and time for Alana’s lessons in mermaid things. Bored to death as Ali droned on and on about something or another, the little girl wasn’t actually listening, Alana had quite easily actually snuck away from it all. She didn’t know how long it took for Ali to realize she wasn’t there anymore, but using the new found time to her advantage Alana had gone exploring the new sunken ship she had found. There was so many human items there, forks, spoons, knifes, maps that were of no use anymore they had fallen apart in the water, pants soaking wet and heavy, blankets, most of which were hidden in her underwater cave. She had brought a few of the items back and they had been confiscated. After that she had learned never to bring human items back to the palace.
”The point is honey you were always able to get away from the other mermaids who’s to say you won’t be able to do it again?” was the cook actually promoting Alana running away and being with the human? Hell yeah! There was nothing the motherly, well motherly to Alana and Mira the other mermaids could take care of themselves, wanted more than the happiness of the young mermaid. Even if it meant never seeing her again, it was a sad thought but well she had to grow up sometime, the cook knew that if Alana did ever find the boy again she would stay with him and never come back. As well the silverette should, if she did come back Mira would make her imprisonment worse, ripping her once again away from the boy and never letting her even be alone again.
It was as though a ray of light had shown itself, she could, no doubt sneak away find Klavien and they could go away together, actually be together. Alana could pass off as a human long as she stayed away from the water. But then it was like a door slammed shut cutting off the light and casting her in shadow. Leave her home? Leave her sisters behind never see them again? Live away from the water? She needed water right, that’s what Mira had always said to Alana. Never had the girl been away from water for more than a few hours, what would happen if she stayed away for longer than that? Do mermaids dry up if they are away from the water? Do they die like fish if they are away from the water to long? Was it a risk she was willing to take? Already she knew the answer it was a yes, she didn’t want to stay shut in here her whole life, she wanted to get out see the world, yes the human world. Even if it meant running away and never seeing her sisters again, it was a sad thought but one she was willing to do.
”I could, but you know if I leave I won’t be coming back don’t you? If I come back then things will be worse than even now, where every move I make is watched” glancing superstitiously towards the door Alana was relieved to see that Taia wasn’t there, maybe the woman figured since the silver haired beauty was in the kitchens with Hana there was no way she could get away and thus didn’t have to guard her. Either way Alana was relieved, because it meant no one had listened to her and Hana’s conversation. And gotten the heads up that Alana might be making a break for it, might be? The girl was totally going to try to make a break for it, what was a life spent in a prison?
”Honey what’s a life spent like this? Always kept under lock and key, you kept you word to Mira now it’s time for you to do what’s right for you. I know you; you’re an inquisitive girl who will never be happy locked away from the world. You need to get out and be with the one you love” the cook told her matter of factly a small smile coming to her lips at the tell tale blush that touched the girls pale cheeks. ”You love him we both know it” Hana pushed, her saying was confirmed by Alana’s all to expressive face the blush growing a little brighter.
”Your right about one thing, I won’t be happy locked away at the bottom of the sea, never seeing anything but what they allow me to see” Alana purposely ignored the second half of what the cook had said, it was too much to think about, in love her? She barely knew the guy! Aside from an overwhelming need to be near him, hear his voice, feel his arms around her, okay so maybe she was…. in love with him. Somehow the pain ebbed a little, the pain she had felt since the instant she had left Klavien on the boat last night was slowly ebbing away. Hana was right, Alana had fulfilled her word, but what gave the mermaids the right to keep her locked away? What gave them the right to say what she could and couldn’t do? Why couldn’t she be with a human if she chooses to? ”Hana if this is how you really feel why haven’t you left and gone out in search of your pirate?”
Hana looked away, her dark hair shielding her face, as though she were ashamed of herself ”I lacked the will power to leave honey, I couldn’t leave my sisters my home, and now it’s too late for me. But you? You’re stronger than me in so many ways, you’ll be just fine”, the woman had no doubts about that.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It wasn’t the first time Mira had been threatened by a hurt female, though the situation with the male, that was certainly a first. Ignoring the threats the woman couldn’t even fulfill Mira kept her attention solely on the male Alana was so taken with. Personally Mira didn’t understand why Alana would be willing to risk so much for the man. Yes he was handsome with his steely-blue eyes, broad shoulders, and lovely brunette hair. But there were many other handsome men out there, ”Alana is where she should be, though she hasn’t been out of her room since last night, and she’s barely eating. I honestly don’t get it, you’re just a human nothing special. But she genially seems hurt since leaving you” hurt was an understatement to the actual pain Alana evidenced but Mira purposely avoided saying that.
”Now as for the woman both of you get into a long boat, and with a little muscle power on your part, which involves rowing in case you don’t know what I mean, and I’ll take you back to the humans” Mira went on quickly, more so she didn’t have to think about her poor daughter than anything else. The more she thought about the young mermaid, the guiltier she felt, making her question if she had done the right thing. Shaking her head quickly to banish the thoughts Mira tried to keep her mind firmly on the task at hand
(^-^ I love this role play, there’s so much depth in it, and so much to work off of. I hope your enjoying it as much as I am)
