Let me address this simply, this is going to be my persuasive writing topic for English. A couple of requirements that I need to acquire: 3 quotations from people, or 3 factually based items from book/internet/news/etc. (or a mix of like 2 quotes, 1 fact/ 1 quote 2 facts) I also need an opposing opinion (which is a great way for you to give input for me to put into my paper! *wink wink* )
I'm for the idea of free entrance to colleges in the state if a person is a citizen of said state.
Reasons why: - The poor having the capability of getting a better education and succeeding in life
- The alleviation of stress from choosing a wrong major (going after the wrong thing you wanted)
- (any more reasons you can suggest to further aide my paper?)
The project isn't due soon, BUT it would be helpful to start on it now to further my thoughts into a more loquacious paper. Therefore, the quicker you respond, the better my paper may be! ~ <3
If you want anything cleared up, or you don't understand where I'm coming from, just ask and I will try to reword what I am trying to say. Please give me your input for the best result!

I'm all for free entrance to university, shucks, my student loan is going to be at $60k by the time I've finished my bachelor. (Though that's more to do with accommodation fees than actual course costs). My parents didn't have a "college fund" for me, and there haven't been any jobs going in my town for someone who's still at school. That means that I've been unable to raise any money for my further education. I don't see why that is the thing that might keep me from going to university. Why should my potential be limited by the amount of money I have? If anything should keep me from Uni, it's my grades, not my income.
In my country (New Zealand) there are funds available for students whose parents are under a certain pay grade, but because my parents are just above it, I'm not eligible for anything, and because I'm not Maori, don't play club sports and am not a head student at my school, I'm not eligible for scholarships either. Money wise, everything is working against me, and I don't see why a bachelor of arts should cost over $500 per paper. University used to be free here, but not anymore, and it's not doing good things for anyone, because a lot of people see the fees and decide not to further their education. That means that skill levels in some jobs are decreasing, and that there's a shortage of necessary people (like doctors) in most places.

Go to college for free? Sounds excellent to me - count me in! I'm auditioning into a music school next month...it's scary when it's not the audition your nervous about; it's the money. If I do get accepted, it's just going to be one stressful thing after another. Hell, it already is stressful. Looking for scholarships and to get a full scholarship from the school you have to be this epic musician and...well, I'm not!
I think education should already be free in the first place - just saying.

I'm not arguing here, just stating that you're going to need to counter some things in your project, OP. Personally, I see both sides of the argument's point so yeah. XD
-The college may or may not not get as much funding, meaning lesser education for all.
-It would encourage everyone to get a degree, meaning they suddenly aren't as valuable anymore for getting a job and perhaps even lowering wages for educated work. Who would be the labor force, speaking of which?
-With it free by default, that takes down one reason to keep having strong grades and studying the material: scholarships. Therefore, people would barely scrape by and get their degree, all for free. Scary prospect when that person is about to perform surgery on you, you'd have to admit.

It's a good idea in theory, but there's still that lingering problem: how can the poor afford to go to school AND work at the same time?
Yes the schooling is still free, but you also have to take in account that those who do use this will need to cut back with their work avaliablity. Less avaliablity to work = less income = less money to pay bills. Even if there's two people working, that often still isn't enough to cover EVERYTHING.
I would love to have free schooling, but unless it is online where I don't have to change my avaliablity then I wouldn't be able to take advantage of it.
