In my opinion, Steam is a great program with a lot of pros, but Valve really should get better programmers, since Steam has a TON of bugs and problems still.

This. This is the whole reason that I have a problem trusting all my gaming to a third-party program.
The problems with steam can be summed up, in a nutshell, with the Assassin's Creed 2 fiasco that went down a few years ago, with PC gamers causing a huge fuss because you had to be connected to the internet via Steam 100% of the time you were playing the game. If your internet dropped, the game cut out. If there was a glitch with Steam or they were updating, the game cut out. Big problems, mass hysteria.
I love features like achievements, and the in-game chat client is great. But when it comes down to it, if it were my decision, I would still buy the stand-alone game nine times out of ten and close Steam down, save myself a little memory and a little trouble.
This is one of the few things Arkkath and I argue about :x He loves Steam, hehe.
