Does anyone know of any great steampunk anime, manga, or comics? I would greatly appreciate any input, thank you very much.

For steampunk comics rather than anime or manga, I can't recommend Grandville by Bryan Talbot highly enough. Detective story, beautifully written and illustrated, with a wide range of influences.
I doubt you could really make a case for Big Oh or for Read or Die being steampunk, but they may be worth looking at for things that have (very) vague similarities to the aesthetic. Fullmetal Alchemist you might be able to make a case for it being Steampunk, but it's too much of a stretch, imo to make it successfully.

Now and then, here and there.
It's in the steampunk area. Incredibly disturbing anime though that's definitely not for children as it deals with child soldiers, rape, and so on.

The only one I know of that I have read/watched is Steam Detective. Although is it rare and hard to find. I own the anime but hadn't finished the series. I did finish reading the manga (what they did publish in the US), and it is awesome! !

It's not heavily Steam-Punky but Tegami Bachi features a lot of steam punk inspired business. Here, take a look: Tegami Bachi - Steampunk Wiki
Lots of fighting etc, but it depends on if you're more action or more story. I'd say this is more emotional-story based than an action anime. That's the only sort of steam-punk I can think of I'm afraid. :(
//P.s, If you like steampunk you should try a game called Rise of Legends, it's kind of Age of Empires-ish with a Steampunk race, brilliant but unknown game. //

Watch Ergo Proxy
Although the beginning episodes are set in the distant -future , the show also then goes back into technology of the past eras for a majority of episodes :D

The other day I was looking for new anime's to watch and someone on an anime forum board posted that they enjoyed watching Last Exile. I read a review on it and the review said it was steampunk.
I didn't watch it myself though.
