They say that Area 51 is where the aliens visit, and all the kooky science experiments that the government doesn't want you to know about go on there.

Well, that's a load of crap.

Area 51 is just a cover up for the real big stuff not too far away in Alamo, Nevada. No one would expect a place that was such a tourist trap to be hiding government secrets.

Especially not Jake Walsh, who was about to uncover the biggest secret of all.

"Just get in and grab something, then get out." he was mumbling to himself as he walked down the block toward The abandoned warehouse. Oh yes, it was the middle of the night(and even though it was at its coldest for Nevada, he still had sweat going down the back of his neck) and he was headed to the old abandoned warehouse.

Everyone talks about it at school, they say it's haunted, that too many workers died there. That you can hear crazy things coming from it at night.

And he was the idiot to call bullshit and play the cool guy. So now he was the one who had to go into the building and prove it.

Jake wiped his face of sweat, ignoring the annoying feeling of his hair sticking to his forehead, and started to plan his next move. If he left now he was a coward, but if he went in and there were ghosts...

Well, at least cowards get to live, right? Oh, what the heck did he get himself into?

Why do they stare? What is it that’s so interesting about me?

Maybe they don’t know I can see them... I can’t hear them, not through the glass... But I can see them.

How long will I have to stay here...?

~~~
Adam Hughes went through the whole rigmarole of retina scan, fingerprint identification, and card reading. A thrice-verified identity check was always necessary to enter the restricted area, but it really got old after a while. He brushed back the uneven strands of light blonde hair as the thick steel door hissed open, releasing the airlock, and a green light came on above it, signaling that no contaminants were near. He stepped inside, quickly because if he didn’t, he’d be caught in the door’s timed shutting system, and he’d heard that it could easily crush bone.
Monitors hugged the walls, massive, blue glowing, reading numbers, checking temperatures inside the room, rearranging the flow of oxygen to both the room and the main focus of the room, a huge, glass-walled cylinder full of clear liquid. Only one other scientist was in the room, and he was near the vat, head down on one of the desks, seemingly asleep until the automatic door shut with a screech and second hiss. Adam started across the room, bright blue eyes magnified behind thick-framed glasses and almost shining in the extra glow from the numerous computer monitors. “How’s he doing?” He asked his companion, glancing at him. “He should be ready to come out within the next... six hours, maybe.” Adam turned his gaze back to the grayscale stare of their most elaborate and extreme experiment ever done on the soil of the United States.
"Amazing, isn't he?" The man at the desk nearly whispered. His blue eyes seemed tired, and the bags under his eyes proved the fact. He spent more of his time obsessing over things, to the point he'll check, double check, and triple check the machines around the body. He reveled in the security measures that the other man was now so tired of.
"The perfect soldier. Sooner than later he'll be blasting commies out of the water."
Jake decided the best way to do this wasn't to go through the actual entrance. People have tried to go through that way more than once and failed. Instead, he decided to shimmy up the tree outside, that was close to a window on the side.
Shimming onto the end of a branch on all fours, he shuffled his way to the window and slowly, carefully-
Accidentally put his fist through the window.
'shitdamnfuckcrapaahhh' he whimpered to himself, but since it was inside he was able to unhook and pull open the window to get inside.
Odd. They look at me like I’m some kind of miracle... But I don’t even know what I am. Human? Modeled after the ones outside this tank? If only I knew what they were saying...
If only I knew how to move...
How to understand these thoughts...
Adam sighed heavily. His companion was so intense when it came to the war. The security. The being itself. Adam, however, hated it all. Maybe he was ‘just another hippie’. But he didn’t like the thought of fighting, conflict, or death in general. “We can’t focus on that right now.” He said at last. “It’s supposed to be the last thing on our minds!” He went to the tank and picked up a hanging clipboard. “His name’s Hewie.” Adam continued. “Hewie...”
The papers on the clipboard told both scientists all they needed to know. Though they had a large crew to take care of the experiment, these two were the ones solely responsible for him, overseeing every aspect of growth and development and, eventually, life outside his tank. “Shouldn’t be but three hours.” Adam muttered. “That’ll make it midnight when we bring him out of hibernation.” As he spoke, he nearly became lightheaded with anticipation.
"Huh." Now that he was inside the place, it wasn't exactly what he expected.
Yeah, there were creaky floorboards, dust and darkness, but as he walked down the steps he noticed that there was also a crack of light from one of the floorboards. Deciding it was best to go towards the light(thought that would be the wrong situation in most scenarios), He noticed the floorboards were, in fact, a trap door. Carefully he opened the door and stumbled upon the white walls and floors of the research facility.
"W-woah.."
"I know, I know." He dismissed the man's almost scolding nature when talking to him. He clearly didn't realize how frightening the red threat was.
"Who decided to name him Hewie?" He wondered out loud, walking over to his partner and looking over the clipboard too. "Testing cognitive faculties, reflexes, emotional stability.." For a second paranoia gripped him. What if, when they let the thing out, it just ripped their heads off? He wished they could test these things before they let him out.
Adam wrinkled his nose at his companion, but said nothing to reply. He never listened. Adam was most often the voice of reason, yet he lacked the assertiveness his longtime friend did. He often wondered how the two of them could ever be friends in the first place, considering their massively differing views, personalities, opinions, and general thoughts and actions. But it was still possible, somehow.
He glanced to his side. “I did.” He said at last. “That white hair, it reminds me of my dog Hewie.” For a moment he thought he saw a bit of... apprehension? It flashed in his friend’s gaze, shadowed across his face. “We’ve run dozens of brain scans in the past forty-eight hours.” He added. “Everything’s normal. This is the most advance technology we could hope for, and it’s not detecting anything abnormal in his thought processes. He’s been analyzing his surroundings ever since his eyes opened, and won’t be especially disoriented.”
Adam stared at the cold gray gaze that seemed to be blankly glaring back. “Besides...” He went on. “He’s been in that tank ever since he was two inches in length. He won’t be very strong at first, even with the iron-steel complexity of his skeletal structure...” It was a long-shot, perhaps, to say this. Hewie could actually be massively strong, more than either of them could realize, but he didn’t want his friend getting too worked up over it.
}Also, what's the name of the second scientist? I don't think we named him...{
