Have there been any revival of any 'old' radio stations in your region?

I know there has been in mine.

WSHE 103.5 was an old radio station back from my mom's era (the mid 70s to the mid 90s). It use to play rock and what not. Now they brought it back and I am now enjoying this station.

I remember this station when it was an Urban music station and it played urban hits from the 90s to 'current'. One day it switched to a Spanish station and I became sad.

Before it was an urban music station, I remember it being a party music station as well.

SHE 103.5 Plays Everything <<< WSHE's main website for anyone that is interested.

I also wonder how long a radio station can run before they have to add commercials to its airwaves. :(

Anyone else with radio station stories or similar experiences?

Edit: Now WSHE plays a variety of hits from the 70s to 'current'. :) I hadn't heard any urban music though, I guess the other stations are sticking to that.

Old radio stations? No.. But I do listen to new radio. Does that count?

The Current from Minnesota Public Radio is my favorite radio station ever. :yes: They play current music, local music, old music, and weird music. Love it~

Yes it does, Rainbows. :heart: I hadn't discovered any "new" stations in my area, but I heard that Palm Beach gave up 101.3, so Miami can get that station frequency now. :S It better be a new urban station and not another Spanish station. >_<;

I used to work at a smaller station years ago that went under and I found out they brought it back. It's an alternative/rock station. They still play decent music but I don't get it as far North as I live.

As for new stations, they seem to be popping up all over. I live where I get both US and Canadian stations and it seems Canada has a bunch of stations that just started off of took over other stations. There's on that's light rock and another that's modern rock and the other is a mix station that I listen to. I can't stand "urban" music for the most part so it's nice to have something that's not "urban".

I do like some 70s and 80s music, but I do like the "urban" genre a bit more. I know most people think of rap and hip-hop, but I mainly like the Soul, Neo-Soul, R&B, and 'Urban' Gospel subsets of the "Urban" Genre. I am just tired of horrid-not-so-great Top 40s being played all the time, and Spanish stations taking over Miami. Oh sure they are ok (the Spanish stations), but let's have some variety. What I truly want is a 'true' oldies station. One that plays 50s and 60s music ONLY. That way my great aunt can enjoy the radio again.

It must be nice being near Canada and getting their stations as well. My music taste changed over the years and I am enjoying club/dance music a bit more. I do like alternative rock more and some of the other lighter/softer rock genres. The genre that I can say I can't stand at all is heavy metal (the extreme stuff). I can enjoy Guns and Roses (I don't think their metal), but other darker rock bands I tend to avoid. Especially certain heavy metal groups. :S

I hope the new frequency isn't another Top 40. :-/ What I can say is my area has an almost a great variety, just missing the Urban Gospel. :P

My sister and I always joke saying that Canada produces some of the best music in the area but I think that's more so because bands from the city I live by are pretty horrible. There's a lot of those "screaming" metal bands that just aren't good that stop by the station wanting us to play their stuff. Most of them just give me an instant headache.

I can't stand most top 40. It just irritates me to see who's on the top of the charts sometimes. I don't understand how people stand listing to that and not real music.
