Wow, no Homestruck thread? I'm pretty shocked, to be honest! With the popularity for this thing booming I thought for sure there would be one..

Homestuck is.. well, it's a lot of things. But basically it's the story of the world ending, being sucked into a video game, and trying to defeat the final boss.

The four main human characters are John Egbert, Rose Lalonde, Jade Harley, and Dave Strider. These guys are the ones you'll switch between and follow around for the first four chapters or so. I admit, the first chapter or two may seem a little slow, but it's only to introduce you to everyone and get the ball rolling! Once the action starts, it pretty much doesn't stop.

After the first four chapters you'll be introduced to twelve additional characters - the trolls. I don't want to tell you too much about them because a) it would take forever and b) it's really a treat to get introduced to them by yourself!

Anyway, Homestuck is LOADED with humor, action, and a little (strange) romance on the side. It's really fun to follow along and try to work things out as you go, only to get new twists sprung on you. It can get a -little- confusing, especially with all the time travel, (oh, did I forget to mention the time travel? yeah, there's that) but it's not hard to get the hang of once you get started. :)

I've just recently become a fan and it's nice to see a place for HS here on Menewsha :)
I'm partial to Kanaya since she's my zodiac troll but I've found Karkat [who I've noticed shares your name =3] to be funny and cute after I got past the initial shock of his screamy-shouty jerk-ness :D His many arguments with himself are so funny, especially the ones where he's not that far down the timeline [lol, 3 hrs]. I like Jade too, as well as the Strider bros :yes:

I'm in love with Homestuck at the moment. I'm only just in act..four or five, I don't remember. But I haven't really found a character yet that I just don't like. All of them have unique qualities that seem to make up for any annoying quirks someone might find in them. Nepeta kind of gets on my nerves sometimes though with all the over the top cuteness.

I'm curious though, does anyone on Mene have any plans to cosplay any of the characters? On site or off? I really love seeing Homestuck cosplays. ^-^

I was thinking I'd try to have my avi cosplay as Kanaya but I'm not sure if I'd be able to find something that looks like troll horns on Mene :sweat: I'd also have to look for some zodiac shirts.....How about you Otter? Are you gonna cosplay as someone from HS? :)

:3 Yeah. So far off site I'm going to do Dave. I might do a couple of the trolls later on, but nothing's really set in stone. I'm hoping for Feferi eventually, but I think I'd want to use my real hair for it (because those longs wigs are a MESS to maintain) so I'd need to grow it out...

On site, I'm working on a Feferi cosplay. XD I've got it all worked out. :c They really do need more horns here though. I'd love to see some trolls running around the site. So far I've only found ones to work for Karkat and Feferi.

I completely adore this comic... I'm really surprised this thread didn't explode into a full on discussion. >: It's kind of sad. I wish more people on Mene liked it, or wanted to discuss it. I would be all over this thread if that were the case. MAYBE I CAN REVIVE IT.

Okay I doubt that. But yeah, I really love Homestuck. My favorite character is Tavros. I love him <3 I really want to buy his shirt from the What Pumpkin store~

Yeah, I was wondering that too considering how many fans HS has. But maybe it's because they prefer going to the HS forums to discuss it, haha :lol: Tavros is adorable!!! I just wanna give him a hug after what he's been through. At least he gets to meet up with a certain group of people afterwards [not sure if this counts as a spoiler, lol :sweat:].
I wanna get a shirt too, but it looks like they don't have Kanaya's shirt in my size anymore =(

digitalPopsicle: I think you're probably right about the fanbase here being small, but I'm just glad there's one at all. I didn't even expect there to be a fanbase on Mene.

Furious is also very right about how we need some discussion going on here! Why don't we all talk about how Homestuck seems to affect people's actual lives? Like, how some people get more out of it than just enjoyment. For example; the way people in queerplatonic relationships so heavily appreciate the idea of Moraillegence?

I really like the idea of Moiraillegence, although I keep seeing debates about wether or not it's truly platonic or if there's an element of romance involved. Personally I think romance has to be involved because it's part of the red quadrants. Pale, yes, but still red.

Mainly because you can totally love your best friend but not have it be as passionate as true red rom and... stuff XD Least that's my opinion.

I'm not entirely sure how to explain what it is, as my brain is a little dead. It's essentially being really close best friends with someone in something of an over-dedicated manner. Like, I share a queerplatonic relationship with my best friend. People tend to assume we're dating simply because of how close we are. We love each other very dearly, but neither of us have romantic feelings for the other. It's kind of like we're in love platonically? I really don't know how to explain this properly.

Being involved in a queerplatonic relationship may skew my views on Moirallegence a little bit. (I can't decide how to spell that properly.) I do "romance" type things for/with my best friend, but it's not really the same type of romance I would use on a potential lover. I have heard it explained that Moirallegence is like the mental/emotional state of being in love and Matespritship is the physical side; though I don't know how much I agree with that.

Oh, I get it now! :D I guess Moirallegiance is like that. Too bad we don't use a relationship system as dynamic as the quadrants in the real-world. I'm sure things might be a little easier for people when it comes to defining the kind of love they feel for someone =3

One thing I'm a little confused about is Auspisticing. Is it really just about keeping people in the pale sections? Is it nothing more than business or would the people involved be considered friends [in real world terms] of some sort?

Yeah. c: The whole introduction of the idea of having a "Moirail" to people like me in queerplatonic relationships was really nice. It's a lot easier to say (to someone who knows Homestuck) than trying to explain "No, this is my best friend and we're queerplatonic."
I'm not entirely sure how well "quadrants" would work for humans. Some sort of similar system though would be nice. People these days seem to assume that there is only one type of love and (for some asinine reason) that you should have it for whoever you're seeing.

The Auspistice quadrant is there to keep two trolls from entering Kissmessitude. So like, say for instance Gamzee and Nepeta are black for each other, but Nepeta has some black feelings for Vriska too? Maybe Kanaya would have to get in the middle between Nepeta and Vriska to keep Nepeta's <3< quadrant from breaking.
That's how I understand it at least. Please nevermind the pairings used. I actually don't...think I've ever considered shipping any of that. That's what you get when you enter random names in one of these things.

Also, I have to ask, is your avatar there cosplaying as the Dolorosa?

I see :) Thanks for clearing that up. I just couldn't seem to wrap my head around Auspisticing despite reading the description in mspa wiki over and over again :sweat: And lol, GamzeeNepeta is a pretty uncommon pairing. I usually see her paired with Gamzee only when Equius is involved. So it's more like a....threesome? :sweat:

I didn't even know there was such a pairing. I was going to use Gamzee<3<Dave for the example but it would have been easier to use all trolls and I didn't think my ships needed to start showing. |D I'm not really sure how a threesome with them would work but it would definitely be interesting to see.

c: Right. I got on and checked the Halloween items and realized I could do GT Dave. I got really excited and jumped on it. I like the way your Dolorosa looks though, it's very pretty. <3

Thank you :D Finding everything for her outfit was a real pain though. That see-through, striped fabric she has draped over her is so awesome, too bad I couldn't find anything like it in the commons. The closest I saw was the tribal sleeves but the gold rings they had near the upper arm clashed with everything :cry:

You should have also seen Demoscout's avi. It's different right now but she had hers like GT Aradia :)

It still looks really good even without the drape. c: Easily recognizable to anyone who reads Homestuck, I'd think. I definitely know what you mean about having a hard time putting things together though. I'm working on a Feferi outfit right now and it took me forever to find everything I needed to make it look the way I wanted.

Oh man I wish I could have seen that! I love Aradia's God Tier design and it'd be amazing to see how it worked out with Menewsha's items.

Oooh, I'd love to see a Feferi cosplay! I'm planning on trying a troll cosplay myself at some point. Gonna stick with my new Fem!Dave one for now though.

Oh man I'm one item away from having Fef done. It's just the most expensive one and it might take me a few more days since I sidetracked with GT Dave. /smart

Your Fem!Dave looks great. XD I recognized it instantly. Unfortunately it's kind of tough to do the trolls on here because of the lack of horns.

Yeah, the only horns I can think of are those satyr ones that came out a while ago D:

Well there are a few floating around, but most of them aren't in the right style or the colors just don't go with the scheme at all. Like, I think it was appropriate for MintyRey to use those black horns, but say, if they'd been bright purple that might not have been such a good thing. XD

I think it would be nice to see more horns around Menewsha though. c: It'd make troll cosplaying so much easier. Though I am sure we would not be the only fandom benefiting from it.

((heehee I was looking for a Homestuck thread. We may not have too big of a fanbase on other places but at least there are people who do like it. -lurks about more- I'm actually very happy that I found a thread. I'm bookmarking it and staking my claim here heehee. Now to attempt to find some sort of dream avatar maker so I can work on my wishlist for my outfit. :D))

Somebody over omegle got me into homestuck, ever since I've been a huge fan of Gamzee, and Dave. not as a couple but as two of my favce characters.
