Eathelyn Forest

Eathelyn Forest is a deep forest growing over the base of the Gaiadirie mountains, filled with secrets and lore. It is a place of great beauty as well, all manner of flora and fauna seeming somehow more elegant and well formed. Each tree seems formed by the hand of god to be pleasing to the eye, each animal the swiftess and most healthy. Though this brings many hunters from nearby towns, this is not what the forest is famous for or why the ancient people who once lived there named it Eathelyn.

No, it would be the crystal clear river that flows through it and the waterfalls it forms from the craggy surface of the mountain. The water is slightly cold, the river's source being at the top of a spring at the mountain peak and the melting snow always kept it cold. The waterfall was beautiful to watch but was also said to have healing powers since ancient times and this brought many to it's waters.

At the bottom most fall a half fay, half human had also built a small home, and her healing powers were very real. The home was fairly well sized but simple in structure, built more for function then beauty into the side of the mountain itself. Part of it was even built into the mountain itself, likely using a cave that had already been there. Caves dotted the cliff face and mountain all over the place.

Siobhan 'Sio' Degare had found a home in the forest, one where the other fay who sought to kill her as the last of her fathers line seemed unwilling to try to attack her for the past few months. She wasn't sure if they just hadn't found her yet or the forest had no interest in their squabbles and forced them to out. Sio honestly didn't care, she simply enjoyed the time she had. She loved the delicate peace of the forest, and the mysterious ruins she found now and then.

Sio was not searching out any mystery but enjoying the falls. She stood at their bottom, standing in the dry hallow where a path seemed to be carved by the ancients. She held one hand on the stone behind her and the other hand she held under the pounding water as the mists rolled over her feet. She knew the silk her clothing was made of would repel the water, but her bare hand would feel the water and the pressure. She could feel the energy of healers past and it filled her fay half with light. Despite the many factions and the ability of the celestial fays to turn to light or dark, healing and light was what she had chosen.

Her hazel green eyes were closed, though inside her minds eye she could see the swirls of water energy and streaks of different healers light. She supposed healers were drawn here, even her own was joining the stream. It was a pale blue white light... the color of her soul. She opened them a moment as she heard a sound, however, and she crouched. She put her hand beneath her cloak as she began to sneak from behind the falls to a rock at the left side. She used her powers over light to bend it slightly, making any eye looking in her direction see nothing but the rock behind her as she mimicked it's colors and tricked the eye into seeing its shape.

As she stood there, her muscles tense and her vibriant blue curls half sticking to her cheeks from the mist in small wisps as it was neither wet or dry she would stare outward. She would see a deer leap outward and relaxed, glancing into the doe's big brown eyes. She released her weapon and stepped out fully as a bell like laugh escaped her petal pink lips. She was still expecting attacks even after so long... She shook her head, watching as the doe stared at her direction. The woman stood stock still and silent, as if to calm the deer. Slowly it would bend it's head to take a drink from the water, one eye still watching out for sio until it finished it's drink and dashed off into the forest growth.

"Relax Sio, relax." She muttered to herself as she shook her head and waved a hand to return the light to normal. As she became fully visible she moved to the spot the deer had been drinking from. She bent to look at the hoof marks, tracing one with her fingers. It had a slight crack in one of the hooves, it was one she'd seen the tracks before but this was the first time she'd seen the doe. It was very skiddish and always seemed to outrun any hunter. She wondered why, though now she had no desire to hunt it. It was still young and female, the perfect age to birth many healthy babies and keep up the population of deer.

They had told Aidan not to touch it, but when had he ever listened to humans? Besides, his employer had wanted this, and she had wanted it very badly. For what reason he wasn't sure, he hadn't even been told what it did. The humans that held it in their possession claimed it their most prized treasure, said it was weapon of ultimate destruction and that it should not be touched. So later that night when everyone was asleep, the vampire had slipped into that treasure room and effortlessly lifted the odd artifact from it's pedestal.

Aidan had not been prepared for it to attach itself to him, but he took that in good stride and made his escape before any humans were alerted to the theft. But that, had been weeks ago. Several long and miserable weeks.

The artifact had been changing him and Aidan did not like that change. Sunlight no longer hurt his eyes or made him weak. His thirst for blood was gone, and instead his stomach grumbled and ached for food. Human food. His throat was dry and it craved water. Aidan was not pleased at what this artifact was doing to him, it was quite clear that the stupid object was transforming him back into a human. His fangs had gotten shorter and even dulled some. He had tried several times, unsuccessfully, to remove the artifact, but it was stuck fast and refused to leave him.

Now he was wandering in this forest, with no sense of direction and completely lost. Such a thing hadn't happened before, well not since he had been turned. Aidan had hated being human when he was one and now he was hating this artifact for turning him back into such a weak and pathetic creature. Aidan followed the sound of water, his thirst for it driving him towards it. The sound of water was rather loud, sounding much like a waterfall, and it was. The sight of the waterfall soon greeted his eyes and Aidan stood there to enjoy it's beauty for a moment before he turned and moved to the water's edge. There Aidan knelt and scooped the water up in both hands and began to drink deeply. If not for that artifact changing him, Aidan would have noticed the half fay immediately but he had been too distracted by his thirst to pay much attention. Also he didn't expect anything more dangerous than a bear to be lurking about the forest.

Sio blinked as she felt someone approach, her hand reaching again towards her waist. The footfalls were clearly humanoid, and those always made her tense. Still what greeted her sight did not feel of fay blood and she doubted that she was to the stage that any would think to hire a 'hitman'. It was strange... he felt human but he didn't, he felt dark but he didn't, and the artifact on his hand held even stranger and more conflicting energy. She frowned at him a moment, not so sure she liked his energy at all... Still the safest course would likely be to simply see why he was here.

"Are you here for healing?" She asked quietly, her head tilted to the side. She wouldn't look like much in her white robes, and that was how she liked it. She looked such the classic healer.... at least until you pulled the silky robe back to reveal the armor underneath. She preferred being a healer though so one wasn't to far off to guess it. She stepped a little closer but left a few feet between them.

Aidan nearly fell into the water, he was so very startled by that voice. Somehow he managed not to fall into the water, but he had jumped up to his feet and turned towards the woman. Aidan blinked and stared at her, studying her. He frowned. "A healing? No, of course not." Did he look like he needed a healing? Well, he was human, so he probably did look that way. Aidan stood a little straighter and watched her carefully. He had to be careful because he wasn't as strong anymore, or as fast. He hated this so much. "Unless....Can you remove this?" He offered his hand to her, showing her the artifact attached to it. "That is really the only healing I need." Though how long that would be true Aidan couldn't say, humans were fragile things and if he remained like this much longer he was sure he would either end up dead or in need of a lot of healing.

Sio raised an eyebrow but took his hand slowly, curious by nature. She looked closer at the artifact, her aura reaching over it as her wings appeared briefly. They shimmered in the light, appearing white and semi transparent as if made of crystal and reminded of a strange stylized butterfly. She closed her eyes as she let her powers reach over it. The energy was mainly of light though not like the fay... more like the energy of an angel or other holy being who served light and hated darkness. She frowned, realizing why it had felt of dark and light to her earlier. It was destroying darkness in him.... She hesitated a moment at that but he didn't really feel all that evil.... just sad.

She began to wrap her light around it, her free hand reaching to hover over the item. With the light she began to try to gently tug it free, but not force it as it was dangerous with such an ancient thing as this felt. She saw a vaguely masculine form with large wings for a moment. 'I am not through with him yet' the being said before slapping her and her energy away with one wing. Sio went flying, a cut from the wing across her right hand palm as she fell into the ground. She whimpered in pain, briefly barely conscious.

Aidan watched her with eager eyes. Daring to hope that this thing would be removed and he would be free of it's influence. He watched her intently, taking in the appearance of her wings without a word. For half a moment he thought she was an angel, but the wings weren't quite right for that. Perhaps a faery then? Or something of the faery realm. Still it didn't matter and Aidan didn't really care, especially if she could get this off of him. If she could then Aidan would be done with her. Maybe take a little of her blood, assuming he regained his vampireness, with the removal of the artifact.

Disappointment appeared on his features as the girl was pushed away and the artifact remained attached to him. "Tch. Useless." Aidan barely looked over her barely unconscious form and he seemed ready to just leave her now. She couldn't help obviously so he really had no further need of her, he paused. Hesitating. His body felt strange, or rather, his shoulder blades tingled a bit and he felt as if something heavy was on his back. Aidan turned his head to try and peer at what might have suddenly climbed onto his back. Maybe a monkey? Did monkey's even live in this place?

Those eyes widened and his lips opened in shock. How could it? Why was there..? What?! Aidan blinked, thinking maybe he was just seeing things. No, they were still there. Large and magnificent, the wings of an angel. "No no no!" Aidan stomped a foot hard on the ground. Things were just getting worse. He reached behind him to grab a handful of feathers and yanked, as if he could just easily pull the wings off like they were some costume piece. Aidan yelped as he pulled out a handful of feathers, and he glared at the girl laying on the ground.

Aidan stalked up to her and threw the feathers at her. "What the hell did you do? Fix this now!" He prodded her with a booted foot. Not seeming to really care about her well being, though he felt a little closer to the woman in some strange way he couldn't explain. He didn't even know her! Once all this got sorted out he was definitely leaving this place and this woman.

"You..... There was a soul in there and you didn't even tell me? Idiot! You could have killed us both! I'm half human, I can't compete with a full celestial." Was Sio's response as she tried to stand. She felt pain ripple through her, the rock she'd smacked into none to comfortable. She rubbed her shoulder which hurt from the fall and used the rock to push herself up. With the light she would toss him away from her as he tried to touch her with his boot, being his works made it feel like it would be a kick. Only as she stood did she really notice the feathers or the wings, she raised an eyebrow.

"I can't fix something i didn't do. There's an angel inside that thing and the angel has attached to you, it said it wasn't through with you no matter what that means...Until you AND the angel want it to let you go, no one can take it off." She said simply as she shook her head and sighed. It was as if he didn't do any research or think about the object at all and just went around pouting while demanding random people to take it off.... As she thought over how foolishly he had shouted at her she was starting to have the sinking feeling that was exactly what he had done.

"Do you know anything about that thing?" She asked in almost a whisper, her hazel eyes seeming to almost will him to say no. She didn't want him to have made such a mistake... It would simply make things too difficult. She held her bleeding hand, casting a spell to heal it. It worked but it left a strange scar shaped like an angel's wing.

Aidan couldn't resist the light that shoved him away from her, and instead of prodding her with his foot he suddenly found himself on his rear-end blinking up at her. He had lost his balance when the light pushed him away, still that didn't matter. He was glaring at her. "How did a soul get in this thing?" He stared at the artifact on his hand and began poking and prodded at it with a finger of his other hand. "Why would an angel be in something as dumb as this? Besides, why would an angel concern himself with me?" He blinked and looked up at her.

"I know it's old, and it apparently turns vampires into humans." He sounded very annoyed when he said that, then shrugged. "Some humans seemed to think it was an ultimate weapon, some vampire lady seems to think it would look good in her jewelry collection." Aidan realized it had been foolish to go in half blind and just take the thing, but he'd been offered a lot of money to retrieve the item and ask no questions. He stood and dusted himself off, those wings vanished, but he could still feel them. Well, in an odd sort of way.

"Could be anything. It could have been a divine punishment, it could have been a group of demons thinking they could seal it away. I don't know! You'd have to ask the angel, he doesn't seem too interested in talking to me......It would be only natural that being that spiritually bound to an angel would bind the vampire blood and your body would go for the most neutral blood there, human. How much do you know about magic?" Sio asked with a frown as she gazed at him and rubbed her hand where the scar still hurt her a little. It felt like there was something dark there... and she couldn't get it out. She glanced at the wound, had some of his vampiric energy gotten into her hand or rather the scar? She frowned at the thought and shuddered before she gazed at the man for his answer.

Aidan was poking and prodding at the artifact again, frowning deeply at it. He absolutely hated the thing and he absolutely wanted it gone. "I hate angels, I hate humans." He shook his right hand rather hard. "Begone with you angel infested artifact! Leave me be!" He was like a spoiled child having a temper tantrum. Well, he was really. Aidan was not used to not getting his way or being listened to. This was a very horrible experience for him, and even more so since he thoroughly loved being a vampire. He blinked, his hand stopped moving in mid-shake and he looked at the woman as if he just remembered she was there. "Magic? Do I look like a wizard? Of course I don't know very much about magic." He spoke the words as if he thought she was very stupid for asking him such a question.

"And yet your retrieving magical objects?! Dear lord...." Sio responded with a sigh as she shook her head. She was aghast with how stupid people could be, and for what? Money?! She just stared at him, her own thoughts clearly that he was stupid and it was his own fault. She just didn't understand why some people valued it to the point of danger. She shook her head again, sitting on the rock she'd hit. She rubbed her head, feeling briefly dizzy from a combination of his yelling and smacking into the rock. She was tempted to yell back but honestly she felt a little faint and her energy was too low to try and heal the bump on her head.

"I think your angel gave me a concussion... She muttered more to herself then him. She didn't look at him again and let her gaze drop to the floor. She closed her eyes, trying to get her head to stop feeling like the world was moving. She was irritated with the boy but she supposed she could understand... it'd be like being turned into a vampire for her. Still that didn't mean he needed to yell at her. Then again part of her wondered at the angel. Why had he attacked her like that and left not only a scar but a mark? A mark that seemed that of an angel as well as something dark.

"The money was good. Or would be good if I could deliver this damn thing." Aidan sighed rather dramatically and watched her carefully. She did seem a little unwell, maybe she had hit her head much harder than he had initially thought? Still it wasn't any of his business. He looked very annoyed for a moment. "It isn't my angel. I want nothing to do with the horrid beasty!" He glared at her, threw his hands up and turned on his heels. "Obviously you can't help me, so I've no further use for you. I'll be on my way. Good day!" Aidan strode away from her. Angry, quick strides.

Never mind the fact that he had no idea where he was going, Aidan was not about to ask her for directions. She couldn't even help with this thing on his hand, she'd probably just get him more lost in this stupid forest place. Aidan had gone just barely out of her line of sight when he felt this sudden urge to turn and return to her. It was a very compelling urge and he found it impossible to resist. So he turned around and his angry strides brought him back to her. He looked very annoyed and very pissed. He crossed his arms across his chest and glared at her expectantly.

Apparently the angel has decided otherwise..." Sio said with a sigh, but if he didn't want to accept that was his buisness. As the rude man left she shrugged. She was use to taking care of herself so his utter callousness didn't bother. Ever since she'd left that inn so long ago, left her friend Amadeo, no one had ever taken care of her without an ulterior motive if at all. She would turn to sit next to the spring and take a few sips of the water. It would make her feel a little better and a little less dizzy. She only looked up as her hand tingled around the scar, right as he turned around and came back towards her. Magic... that had definitely been magic. She looked up and gazed at him a moment.

"I thought you were leaving?" She said in a puzzled tone as she looked him over. He seemed to be waiting for something... She frowned. She said nothing more as she waited for his explanation. Still she was starting to hazard a guess. For some reason the angel didn't want him to leave her.... Did he want to stir them into killing each other? Punish her? Or was the angel some sort of collector and wanted to add her to his collection. Just what plan did the creature have?

Aidan glared at her when she said that bit about him leaving. "Don't play innocent with me. Tell me what you did and tell me now!" He was a demanding type of guy, so he demanded answers. "You won't let me leave, now undo whatever it is you did that is keeping me from leaving!" Aidan was not amused, if this was her idea of a joke, it wasn't a very funny one. The idea that this could be further result of the angel in the artifact never occurred to Aidan. So obviously it must be this woman's fault that he couldn't leave. This was so infuriating, infuriating beyond words really. Aidan continued to glare at her expectantly.

"Why would i want to keep a spoiled brat here, one whose name I don't even know? Use your mind and think. Behaving like this is what got you in trouble in the first place. I don't know why the angel marked me or why he wants you here... I just know i didn't do a damn thing to you, I don't have those sort of powers or spells. All mine are to do with light or healing." Sio snapped at him. Normally she was nice, cheerful, and calm. She was getting tired of his bratty behavior and his refusal to accept responsibility. She knew if the angel wanted them to fight to the death she was just helping, but she didn't care. God... no good deed goes unpunished indeed.

"My name is Aidan Cameron Roberts and I am NOT a spoiled brat." Aidan scowled and very nearly pouted. "Still...I don't understand why would an angel want to be so mean. They're supposed to be all good and pure and shit." He scoffed lightly. "Angels are supposed to do good things, none of this is good." Aidan didn't want to have to think about any of this. Things had been so very simple and a little boring, before he had taken this job. "I don't care about this angel or the artifact or you. I just want to stop this transformation, I want all of my vampirism and vampiric glory back!" He had grabbed the artifact with his other hand and was tugging at it. "Being human is horrible!" There were very nearly tears in his eyes as he yelled that last bit loudly but he was full of emotion. So much fear and anger and desperation. He truly did not like this one bit and it also frightened him.

"As ancient as that thing feels... the angel has been trapped in there for hundreds of years, maybe more. That'd twist anybody's mind....." Sio said a little colder then she meant to. She would do anything to have been human. Her being half fay had caused her adoptive human family a slow and fiery death as well as put a price on her head for nothing she had done. Not being human had caused her nothing but pain, her arms and hands still bore the scars. She just gazed at him silently, watching his childish temper-tantrum without words. He had either not been a vampire very long or was just an idiot... she was starting to think the latter.

"Aiden... calm down. Unless you intend to rip of your hand, which i doubt it'd let you do anyway, you're not going to do anything but hurt yourself" She finally said with a sigh, her kind nature winning out. She shook her head and glanced downward. She was beginning to become confused. He was right about one thing... none of this made sense. Why would such an object be created? Nothing good would want to betray an angel like that, if nothing else for fear of what the divine would do in retaliation, and nothing evil would want something that could latch on and purify like that.

Aidan didn't care how long the angel had been trapped in there. It didn't matter, it wasn't important. All that mattered was getting unattached from that horrid object and returning to his normal vampire self. Though it could be argued that his human self was really his normal self. When she told him to calm down, he felt compelled to obey, much the way he had felt compelled to turn around and come back when he had tried to leave earlier. He couldn't resist and Aidan found himself relaxing a bit, taking in a deep calming breath and just breathing for a few moments. He seemed so much calmer now!

Calmer and more confused. "I don't understand any of this." He really didn't understand how he had calmed down so easily either. As if he had just done it on command. But that was a silly notion, wasn't it? Aidan shook his head and looked down at his hand. "Perhaps if I cut my hand off?" His voice was an almost gentle one when he wasn't yelling, but it was laced with confusion and a hint of fear. Though Aidan wasn't afraid of cutting his own hand off, he was afraid of the unnatural things that were happening to him.

"...Neither do I, I'm sorry. The artifact itself doesn't make sense... But being the angel still has enough power to toss me around like a fly with my own element, it could easily stop you from cutting off your hand and so you'd just end up hurting yourself" She cautioned quietly. She was frowning, gazing at the object. She could try to connect to it and talk with the angel again but in all honesty she was afraid to. It was clear the angel had not particularly appreciated her interference before... what if she tried now? What did the angel want from her that it would bind her to Aiden and therefor to it?

Just as well, Aidan didn't really have anything he could use to chop his hand off with anyway. "There has to be a way to get this thing off me, or reverse what it's doing to me. This isn't fair at all. I'd rather die than live as a human again." Aidan was starting to get upset again, but he hadn't started yelling yet. It probably wouldn't be long before he was though. He was gritting his teeth as he poked and prodded the object almost harshly. This was going to drive him crazy, just being a weak human was going to drive him crazy.

the small fox staggered through the forest, leaving drops of blood on the underbrush behind it.an open wound with an arrow stuck in it's side bled profusely, causing the creature to limp and pant from the exertion of staying on its feet.eventually,it came to a river near a waterfall, where it collapsed just inches from the water.still on it's side,it struggled to reach the healing liquid, but couldn't.it let out a plaintive cry for help, perhaps hoping some kind creature might come to it's aid.to anyone listening carefuly, the fox's cries sounded almost like human speech.
