Today's doodle is one of those birthday ones. I didn't know about this lady until reading it, and now I'm impressed! Go Grace!

But really, do I deserve a slap? Because part of the reason that I'm impressed at her being a pioneering computer programmer, and a navy rear admiral, is because she was a woman.

Are we even going to manage to shed that mindset ._.

But I still like how Google is giving everyone random little snippits of info and history in this way. Whoever came up with the Doodle idea, good on ya!

Oh I totally agree. It's a fantastic way to learn little bits everyday about something significant.

@jellysundae it's okay to be inspired and impressed, I know what you are saying... If it was a man would you be impresses, is it only because it is a woman, which of course now in our culture we don't think like that anymore. Why couldn't a woman do exactly what anyone else can? What's the big deal... Man or woman etc... But I guess you have to look at it from the historical point of view, she grew up,in a more chauvinistic world, and things were different, and despite those difficulties she made something special out of her life,

The inspiring part of it was that she was such a pioneering woman during a time when women really had to fight to be recognized as equal.
It's not that we can't shake that mindset, but that we should hold on to power female role models, especially from eras where they went against the status quo.

Sharlai: That's a nice way of putting it! It's very inspiring seeing someone who is clearly eldery still in an active authoritive role, too.

Though that makes me think of this meme
