Here in lies the mst difficult aspect of my (potential) job. Where can I find 6 month housing?
Has anyone else encountered this issue whether that be due to college, internships, or jobs? The difficulties of finding seasonal housing where the only options seem to be buying?
What are some solutions to this issue that others have come up with?
Also, does anyone live in the St. George area of Utah Corpus Christi area of Texas that's willing to snoop around to see if there are rentals available?

I don't live in UT, but isn't there a university there? Maybe take a look at some of the student housing or surrounding areas. Not sure if they require 6 or 12 month leases, but it's worth looking into. Can you contact a realtor who handles rental properties?

I'll start calling around more once I know if I have the job or not. But not I'm the area I'm looking. Zion is I'm the bottom left corner of Utah.

I was definitely hoping you'd find a job in Florida :P <3333
As for moving - Look for advertisements online of people looking for roommates ASAP - usually that's for temp housing. As was suggested before - students usually sublease apartments when they graduate because they signed housing for a year and the person wants to leave a few months early from their contract.
Also - there ARE places that do 7 month leases - although the rent is usually more expensive. :P

I've done the basic searches so far. Not much available online, I'm starting to wonder if I'll need to contact a realtor for the area since I won't be able to physically check from here.

When I was about to take a job in NC, I ended up looking for housing near college campuses. Not sure how close your job is to a campus, but there are usually students looking for roommates in that college area. Also check Craig's List, the local Penny Saver, and wanted listings in local papers. That's what I used to help find a place. You can also look into a real estate agent. Not all of them charge so you can always get help through one of them.

Looks like there's one college in that area. In St. George actually. So there might be hope yet. But depending on where, it could be an hour to two hours away from the park. :|
Well, I don't have the job yet, but fingers crossed! :D

It actually looks like there would be more housing options in Cedar City. But still, for whatever reason, most apartments don't believe in the internet, and I'll have to start calling around once I know if I got the job.

Same problem different location.
So I never heard back from Utah, but I got a job in Texas.
And now I'm looking for housing and the best deals for furnished apartments are student housing. :< I want to live in those places too.

This would be short term until you've settled into the area and find a more permanent/semi-permanent place?

maybe? the job is 6 months, so many places won't lease on half-years. Depending on how things go this year and what I get for fall/winter, depends on where I live. Once I get both a summer and a winter job I could stay in the same job for a few years.

I have a few friends and a family member who are or have been park rangers, and I remember some of the contracts are set up like that. A few lucked into more full-time because they were grant-funded and the grants keep being renewed. So, they are out there!

Yup, just might take me some time. But I'm willing to wait. It took me this long to get into the system! :3

Ugh I feel your pain! We were searching for a rental in a state that gets a lot of traffic in the summer, so it was pretty hard to find one. We ended up taking out a mortgage to buy a house instead, but I totally get that that isn't practical or a possibility for most people.
I didn't realize how much of a house hunting was until recently, hehe. >< I don't know if I could handle that kind of thing alone.
Good luck with your search!

I think it's a lot easier to land jobs after you've been employed in your field already, particularly when you're in a specialized field.
Any luck with house hunting?
Maxipuff ~ sounds like where you're moving is long term. Do you like where you are now?

Noooo I hate where I am now. xD We're moving closer to the area I grew up, close enough to drive, so I'm excited to
go back home in a sense.
