I was kind of more thinking that maybe the humans are at war with something else and your guy got lost in the elf's territory when his party was killed separated from him. when the elf saw him he attacked and beat him telling him to go back to his own lands. when your guy got back to his kingdome he asked his king to ask for him to lean the elven art of fighting. then once your human takes the message to the elven king he orders my elf to take your guy and teach him. much to his reluctance.

Ohh, that sounds like a great idea! At first the elf would be cold and terse, but eventually begin to warm up when the knight proves to be a quick and competent student.
Do you think there should be a given amount of time that the knight is supposed to train for, like he's given three months or so leave to train before he has to return to battle?

how about he have the Knights kingdom win the war only a few weeks after he frist meets the elf. that way he had not time limit but he is told he has to come back to teach the other knights.

Alright, that sounds good! And then once their relationship starts developing there can be some tension about leaving each other. Maybe the elf even begins making up things to teach the knight just so he stays longer. Then it becomes something of a joke between the two and they openly discuss ways they can keep in touch or stick together.

Neato! At what point are we going to start the RP? Should we begin when they first meet each other and fight, then do a time skip to where the elf starts teaching the knight? And I'm totally fine with winging it!

well we could start it when they meet and time skip to the day he arrives at the elven kings court and what happens then.

Oh, pictures of the characters are up to you! Working out the kingdoms sounds like a good idea. I was thinking that the elves's land would be mostly woodland with rivers, and the human's would be mountainous or by the ocean. Did you have anything in mind?

well I would hate to just leave the poor humans to mountains or coastline property's. so what if they live in a delta area that leads to the sea. the Elven kingdom has been for a long time locked from human access? only recently the elven king has agreed to open talks of trade with the humans and it was a bold move on his part. many of the elves feel that this is a back step because the human are just barbarians.

Hahaha yeah, that's a good point! Humans aren't the most competent of species. How far apart are the kingdoms? If enemies of enemies are being fought on Elven land it sounds like they'd be relatively close.
There would probably be some backlash from the humans as well, thinking that elves are difficult to trust or elitist. But during the war they'd have a higher demand of weapons and supplies that they'd need from trade, and so the human king's arm was twisted into making an unpopular decision.

well I think that the humans might have pushed for them to make an alliance with the elves so that they could pass through the elven kingdom so they could come from the side at their other enemy's. but the talks had not gotten that far when they won. now we also need to know about the enemy's, are they also humans?

Alrighty! That makes sense. Maybe both the kings were thinking that having the elf train the knight would be a kind of diplomatic move that would ease both kingdoms into the idea of trading/communicating.
Hmmm, it would make sense for the enemies to be human, as that'd give more justification for the elves to see them as barbaric. Albeit, it'd be fun to have the enemies be centaurs or some kind of mythological creature.

maybe they could be Yacuruna or some thing like them? my thought is the Yacuruna some how got stuck up river and over fifty years ago made a bargain with the humans of the area to be taken back to the sea. but there are so many of them that the humans believe that the only way to get them to the sea is to capture all the land between them and the sea along the river.

Wouldn't that entail them also securing the elves' land? If so, then it'd seem that the humans and elves would form an alliance based on war and not trade, which would still work for the RP. But then again, it could have been that the elves decided to fight without collaborating with the humans, the war was won, and then they started discussing trade?

My thought is that the river the enamy kingdome is following is miles from the elven lands. There was no need to invade the elven lands, so the elves were left alone.

Ooohh, okay. So when the humans wanted to travel through their land it would be to attack the enemies from an unguarded side? That sounds good then.
Would the enemy humans have made it clear why they were invading foreign lands? Because I'm thinking part of the reason they could be grabbing hold of the delta area would be to expand their kingdom, and they're using the Yacuruna as an excuse? That could even have been the deal, that the humans would guide the Yacuruna back home if they in turn helped secure the land.

that sounds really good. and yes I was thinking that they were trying to catch the enemy at an unguarded flank.

so looks like we have most of it worked out... anything else you can think of that we need to work on before creating the game? also any questions that we have during the gam,e or bits of information we think the other should know, should be posted here.

Sweet! Glad we got that figured out, hahaha!

I think we have everything. But just to make sure we're on the same page, this is what I'm understanding:

The human kingdom is battling human and Yucuruna invaders. During the war, Knight leads a division of the army through Elven land to execute something of a surprise attack, despite not having been given clearance to do so. He and his soldiers are beaten back, him being the only survivor. As he's returning home, Elf spots him trespassing. They duel, with Elf being victorious and punishing Knight for crossing boundaries. When Knight returns home, he speaks to his king about training under the elf. Human and Elven Kings discuss opening trade and boundaries, as well as enlisting Elf as a teacher for Knight.

Elf reluctantly takes Knight as an apprentice. At first he's cold and terse, but grows warmer after Knight shows himself as a quick and competent learner. Their relationship builds from there until they are close friends. At this point it's time for Knight to be returning home, but both of them try delaying the departure until they can think of a way to keep together/in touch.

Is that right? I think that's everything we covered, but I may have forgotten something!
Also, I was thinking about when the romance would begin to develop? From what we've got so far, I was thinking that the knight was probably smitten with the elf since they first met, but you may have thought of something else.
