I use Dove shampoo and it smells really good that mostly people ask me whether I've bathed myself in some kind of body spray, while all I've done is having a bath - I love the smell of it and lasts all day long so for my hair, basically I get the smell of shampoo I use.

But my point is, I have a friend (and I've noticed several others in my school) whose hair do not smell the 'shampoo smell' whatever shampoo they use, their hair always smell like the smell you get when you apply coconut oil on your hair (if you haven't well that's fine I guess - it's not a nice smell, atleast for me ) I've always wondered whether it's because they don't apply enough shampoo or is it because I apply too much shampoo (I'm always scolded for the amount of shampoo I use, but I can't help it ) or is it that some people's hair just don't allow any.. 'Smell' to stick on them?

Ever had any experience with these?

I think hair smells kind of unpleasant, once the shampoo/conditioner smell has dissipated, but I've never noticed the smell of anyone else's shampoo. I'd have thought you'd have to actually sniff their hair to be able to do that.

The only one that I've ever used that I could smell all day is Govida from Lush, that has an intense jasmine scent that gave me a headache the first time I used the shampoo, it was so strong xD But I really liked it once I'd got used to it. I just made a point of not wearing any perfume on days when I'd washed my hair using that. xD

Some shampoos are definitely stronger than others. Personally, I've found that shampoo doesn't leave much of a smell on my hair, but conditioner does. Some of my conditioners smell so strongly that I can taste the perfume in it. No, I don't eat my conditioner. What I mean is that the smell is so strong that it wafts in the air around my hair and ends up coating my taste buds.

I think some people's hair is more "smell" absorbent as well. My hair picks up the smell of everything around in the environment. Cig smoke from fifty feet away will get stuck in my hair until I wash it.

I'm sure quality of the water, the general hygiene of the person, and their diet all come into play too. Just like skin, hair has a unique smell and it's probably determined by a slew of things. I know with skin, depending on what you eat, wash with, and do, it can impact your scent.

But I certainly know where you're coming from though! My boyfriend used to use Dove shampoo and I would complain after an hour because his hair smelled horrid. He eventually flipped to Axe and, since then, his hair hasn't smelled terrible. Even after a run, his hair isn't terrible!

With me, I've had the same issues. I now rotate between three shampoos, always mixing up the order, and find that it keeps things smelling fresher. It's also fun because every day in the shower is an adventure! Will I chose Aussie, Herbal Essence, or Matrix?!

I had some wonderful smelling Aussie shampoo once, it was something mangoey, but you could only smell it while you washed your hair, was so disappointing. :(

WUT! They had mangoey smelling shampoo!? Why didn't I discover this. I feel... deprived. DX But I totes agree with Aussie not lasting long. It's sad when my lotion outlasts my shampoo even AFTER I wash my hands. ._. Oh well, at least my hands smell pretty :3

It was moisture miracle, or something like that. It really smelt absolutely amazing while you were using it, but was gone immediately once you rinsed the bubbles out. : /

Nuuuuuuuu. That is terrible. I would... never rinse. *shudders* Nope, I lied. I would rinse. I'm too afraid to know what my hair would look like without rinsing. #forevermessy #gross #eww

I use what I need and I don't pay attention to the smell afterwards... though I do very much so dislike the smell of shampoo in someone's hair...

I used to use Head & Shoulders Sea Lift shampoo, and that made my hair smell wonderful. I used it every day, but I never got so "used" to the smell that I wouldn't catch a whiff of it every now and then. People would even compliment me on it! Then one day I bought a new bottle of the stuff and it suddenly smelled very strange - had this gross plastic smell about it. I suffered through the bottle, hoping it was a fluke. The next bottle was bad, and so was the next. I also noticed it was no longer doing nice things for my hair; instead of having super soft, smooth hair, I was getting frizzy while developing this downright oil slick on the back of my head that nothing short of Dawn dish detergent could get out once it had taken hold.

So I switched to this Tresemme deep cleansing shampoo. It works very nice and I'm quite happy with its performance, but its scent seriously leaves something to be desired. I think it smells a bit like... scalp? Slightly unwashed. My boyfriend thinks it smells vaguely of pot. I use a mint and rosemary conditioner, but that just doesn't last once it's rinsed out. So my hair is pretty scentless (or smells of pot, idk).

I have to use a special shampoo, because of my scalp, T-Gel.
It smells downright terrible.
I use Suave Cherry Blossom conditioner, and that seems to help, for a bit.
I usually just spritz a little perfume in my hair, if I'm going out.

I use a tea tree oil based shampoo and conditioner by Nature's Gate. Very little scent added - smells clean and not like tea tree oil when rinsed. Also does a decent job with my funky scalp issues.

I love the smell of Head and Shoulders. It's the one shampoo I can immediately identify by smell.
Shampoo/conditioner smell has never lingered in my hair. These days I spray perfume in my hair because it's longer-lasting than putting it on your wrists or whatever.
