Yes, unknown so like no Chris Brown and etc. Maybe even a friend from your town and they are trying to break it into the music industry. I would love to discover artists that are not well known because some has very nice music. >w<

My favourite Canadian artist name is Cory Lee. :3 Here is her myspace to listen to some of her songs:

I'm not sure how unknown some of the artists I like are since I haven't listened to the radio for over three years and never watch MTV. ^^; But there are a few I discovered through friends or as opening acts for concerts that I enjoy but aren't exactly popular.

The Long Ranger was the opening band for the first concert I attended. I'm also fond of The Stereo Future, which I found later as sort of a sister band of theirs. (Not so much their newer stuff though, and I like the techno sound of Long Ranger more.)

Generally, I listen to mainstream stuff. I hate not being able to find the song I want easily and I don't feel like hunting down underground bands.

Porcelain and the Tramps, anyone? I dunno how well known they are, but I don't hear about them often.

I'd have to say Aimee Allen and Scott & Aimee, the latter of which is Aimee and Scott Russo's side-project.

Lovvy, last time I checked,
Porcelain and the Tramps is
the featured band on VampireFreaks.

Two bands that it seems that
nobody in my entire school
knows about are Charon
and Reflexion. Both are
from Finland.

Ah, I like bands that are pretty popular, but I'm unlucky enough to not know a single person in my school with similar music taste as I.

The only band that comes to mind is Gogol Bordello. I have no idea how well known they are, but they're not very mainstream, I don't believe. Probably well-known in certain circles, but not in most.
Anyway, if you want to know what they sound like, here's a link to one of their CDs on Amazon so you can listen to some clips.

Kina Grannis is not known that much. (even though her song Message from Your Hearts is beautiful.) She had a commercial from Doritos during the American SuperBowl. Sadly, she still didn't get that much attention from it.

Not really. There are lots of indie artists that are well known... Radiohead being the first to come to mind. But I'm sure there are others... I just can't think of them right now. heh.

I'm not sure of what I like would be considered not well known... Model/Actress is the main one that comes to mind. But that's because they're newer and only have one album.

I have actually heard of Cory Lee.
And, um, I don't know if this is an unknown artist or not, but the moldy peaches of the JUNO soundtrack are really good. They are very different as well.

I think that movie is helping them get known. That's how I found about them.

Oh ho, the Moldy Peaches. ^^; Actually, the funny story with them is that they've both decided to go on solo careers right after they got popular because of Juno.

I listen to mainly Korean music, but even among Koreans the band "Novasonic" isn't terribly well known. But they're one of my favorites! They gained a little more popularity with the release of the video game "Pump It Up." Has anyone heard of them? They're a metal band, but used to be rap/metal, until lead singer Kim Jin Pyo left the group to pursue a solo career.

I was a big fan of some Canadian artists, so it was always difficult because they weren't popular in America at all so none of my friends ever had a clue what group or singer I was referring to. I listen to mostly foreign music now, though, so it's harder to say.
