Well at my school my history teacher is having this concert being done at a place called the "Richfield Chalet". I've bought my ticket and I'm excited to go.
It's a benefit concert for the children (I mean children... not people over the age of 18 ) in Uganda, Africa that are being taken from their mothers and fathers to fight in a war. I've seen a few pictures and it looks like a very sad place to be placed.
It's all being done by two bands, one is a Beatles cover band, and the main attraction called Push Play an up and coming band that is unsigned and is one appearently a top 5 band from Long Island, New York. But I don't know anyone outside of my school that has heard of them.
I'll get to my point. I don't get joy out of anything, more then when I see people make a stand for what they think is wrong. Especially in the form of music. I've gotten tird of this selfish "Woe is me, my life sucks so I'll sing about it" and this "I like to get all the ho's I can because I'm a pimp." or "I'm lenient with my body and don't care who sees it." It's selfish and I'm sick of every singer/ song artist singing about it. So when I see a band that sings about the issues, their opinions on global problems rather then their own problems.
Bands like Linkin Park have gotten into this too. Their new album Minute to Midnight is pretty much about war, and a lot of similar issues. It's very heart hitting.
Do you like any other bands that stand up for real problems too? I've become extremely into bands like this. They make music more fun and less self centered if you ask me. :3
