I currently don't have a job. I actually didn't want a job because I was somewhat afraid that it would interfere with my schooling. Though, this fall when I start college I will be doing workstudy. I know it won't be bad, and I'm glad I signed up for it because I'll be able to stay on campus and work for money at the same time. It has a lot of benefits ^_^

So do you currently have a job? What do you do, and what do you like/dislike about it?
If you don't have a job, are you looking for one? What would be ideal?

Nope, no job. I can't pull it off while going to school right now.

Most places don't like hiring people whose schedules change every month and don't know what it'll be until the end of every month.

It's lame, because I'd really like to have some money to buy some stuff.

I don't have a job and I've never had one before. I need one. But I haven't gotten one for the same reason as you. I'm afraid it will take up too much of my time and I won't get my homework done for college. I would have liked to have gotten one this summer, but I'm planning on going out of town to visit my boyfriend and I'm afraid a job wouldn't allow me to take a week or more off right after starting. I want money though, so I guess I will try to get one at some point after I get back home. I'm at a point in my life now where I need to start actually making some money of my own to save up. But it seems like every time I want to get a job, there's something that prevents me from doing so.

I don't have one, I will most likely get one in a year or two once I'm positive I can balance it well with everything else I have going on. :3

Lol does no one have a job XD. I have a job. I work as a busboy in a restaurant chain called Mikes (soon to be a waiter! :D). It's a pretty sweet job, everyone there is nice. The only thing I dislike about the job are the chefs becausew they're creepy and some of the customers because they're either rude or complaining all the time. Everything else is pretty good though.

Next year when my dad can't accept me on his taxes anymore I hope to get an I.D. and get a job, any job except in fast-food. o_o I'd work really hard if it meant earning some money to save up for my future.

I'm gonna have to learn on cutting back my video game time, thats gonna be tough... >__<

Nope still a minor so I have to listen to my parents. "No getting a job" Of course it not like it will effect my schooling in the summer since I'm not going to study.

I kind of have a job. I'm employed through a temp-job agency specifically for students so I get sent out on day assignments to factories or houses I have to clean and stuff like that. The work his hard and the pay lousy but at least it's something to supplement my income.

I co-manage my parents' holiday complex.
It's good because I don't have to do a 9-5 desk job anymore, but it's bad that I don't have any set free time.
Basically I get time off when there's nothing to do and no time off when we're busy, and since I never really know in advance when things will be quiet and there's always something needing doing somewhere, I can't really plan anything like going out or taking a vacation.
Working with family has it's ups and downs. It's good because they're family but bad because it's family o_0
Somedays I'll be spending most of my time dealing with guests and enquiries, other days I'll be working on our website, cleaning, repairing things, gardening... lots of different stuff to do.
Anyhow, it pays the bills and I don't tend to have to do the same thing every day, so it suites me fine.

Haha, I'm surprised how many of us are unemployed...
I've been out of a job since I started school as well. Previously, I had a job at a local morgue doing hair and makeup, but I was always skipping class or forgetting assignments for the sake of my work, when it should have been the other way around.

Despite my mother bribing me $20 a week ("gas money", heh) to focus on school, I'm looking at a couple of kitchen jobs at cute diners and bed and breakfasts. I mean, $20 doesn't even fill half my car's tank these days, when gas is $3.60 a gallon. And I don't have the option of living on campus, so I'm stuck driving 20 minutes to and from school four days a week. I need a part-time job just to keep my car running on vapours. :\

Luckily, my boyfriend is a gentleman, and insists on paying for everything now that my expendable savings are tapped. I take care of keeping the house clean, feeding the pets and keeping their cages tidy, cooking for him, and driving him places since he lost his license thanks to a traffic infraction. :p He loves having a housewifey waiting at the door with a smooch and a beer when he gets home from work, heheh.

I currently work at Tim Hortons, and I really do love working there. My coworkers are nice and we love bitching about the costumers together. XD And I can also act as stupid or as loony as I want as long as I do my work correctly. Ask for what I do... I make coffees, sandwiches, grab donuts, ice caps, etc.

I mainly work weekends because of college and it doesn't affect my schooling all that much, just my non-existant social life.

Kinda.
I have two or three people call me every Friday and Saturday to babysit their kids.

Because kids love me. c:

I usually get paid $5 an hour, but Friday I got paid $11.50 an hour because they called like 10 minutes before they needed to leave to see a late movie. I was there from 9:15 to 12:15 and I got 35 dollars.

I've been a part-time employee for the past 3 years now (even holding two part time jobs at one time while in high school). I never had any problems maintaining reasonable grades as well has having a job. Unless you are looking for perfect scores or they are expected of you, I don't think any one should really have a problem balancing the two. It's like being in an after school activity but you get paid and maybe slightly longer hours.

I couldn't afford to not work either way. I had to save up for a trip to Spain and now I have to save for college.

I'm 18-years-old and i'm still yet to have a job! D;
I suppose you could say i'm spoiled, maybe even double-time spoiled.
When I was 15 and around that age when you can start working, my parents never made me and I never was the one to need money to buy stuff I want. I'm not really into expensive things or that stuff.
I also have a very serious boyfriend and he has a wonderful job and always spoils me to the point of my parents never giving me money anymore.
Now that i'm graduating high school next month, i'm going to need to work so we can afford a nice apartment and i can finally get a taste of it!
I really wish I wouldn't have waited this long! );

I have one, one I like ninelty persent of the time, I work in retail mangement which isn't really what it sounds like but yet again maybe everyone's preconcieved idea of what I do is little more than stand around and look pretty, but far from it, I generally work elevent o twelve hours a day, I am responsible for four hundred and fifty employees, and all thier whines, whimpers as well as that of the customers who are upset that we don't carry the one item they are looking for, or we are out of stock on this item even though all the other stores in the area are as well. Well I guess that is it, yeps I work

I'm going to start working at a carnival on Tuesday. I worked there last year and it's kind of like having your own traveling family. So long as you stay away from the drama and stupid stuff the carnival is a lot of fun. You learn people skills and how to adjust to new settings. I can't wait to go again. ^-^

I'm currently between jobs. I actually HAVE my next job, but I...haven't been able to start yet because of hurting my knee.

I used to work at Vons. Which is the only grocery store in my town. It was insane...and they hardly paid me at all. >.<; It was frustrating beyond words.

An exciting trip came up, and I got a job I could go to as soon as I was ready (even with my new lip ring! Whoo. :D), so I took that as my opportunity to get the hell out of there.

My last paychecks are coming in, and I'm getting my knee fixed...and with the last paychecks, I finally actually have enough money to buy a new guitar. I'm happy about that. I thought it'd be years before I'd be able to buy it.

And I'm looking for a NEW job still...out of town, so I can move out and be near my school (being online-only is FRUSTRATING! >.<). Wish me luck. :3

I desperately want a job! I got an interview at my local theater but they never called back... I'm too afraid to call them and I'm not that afraid that it'll interfere with my schooling because I'm only in grade 10....

Is it?

I would think that would be best for me. I don't like having to go out to the actually school to listen to a guy talk about nothing... I'd prefer to just be able to do the work at my leisure at home.

And it would make it possible to work... although I wonder if I would.. >___>

I was recently hired at Marble Slab Creamery. ^^ It's my first job, of course I only work part time so I've only gone in to work once. It's fun though. My co-workers are really great and I get to dance to music in the back as long as I get my work done.

I've had a job since I was 19. Sadly, I've been employed at the same place ever since. I work at Target. I cashier and work the snack bar. It's not a hard job or anything, it's just the hours suck (we're open from 8-10 Mon-Sat and 8-9 on Sundays) and I usually get stuck working the late shifts. I really hate working retail. Seriously. It's put me off holidays (Christmas time is horrible. People are so rude to you for no reason. >_<) and kids (I always seem to get the screaming kids in my line). Yes folks, this is my college education at work. *sigh* I have got to find a better job, preferably soon.

Three months ago, back in early March, I would have said I didn't...But I applied for a job on March 8, and now I DO have one. Been earning my money for about two months now and paying my own bills. I know, I know, doesn't matter to some of you older people but I'm still working into the transition of relying on myself.
