Some people think that Linkin Park's new CD Minutes to Midnight isn't there best work. And some have said that Minutes to Midnight isn't even their work.

So, the question is. Do you think Linkin Park has changed since their CD Hybrid Theory and others?
And do you like the new sound of Minutes to Midnight?

In my opinion, I love all their CDs. They are on of my favorite bands. I think a band would get pretty old if they didn't take the risk of changing. Plus, I love all the songs on Minutes to Midnight. Especially, "What I've Done".

The music on Minutes to Midnight is WAY different than say, Hybrid Theaory. But then again, Meteora is different from Hybrid theory also.

They've lost the... loudness? that they ahd in their first CD. But that's doesn't make them any less of a band in my opinion.

One of my favourite LP songs is from M2M. Bleed it Out.

I liked the music itself because it always had a bit of an experimental edge to it. I never listened to the lyrics because I always found them far too whiny for my tastes. Minutes to Midnight lost me, to me it sounded like they were trying to be like the generic cookie-cutter pop rock that all of the emo kiddies like nowadays. There were one or two decent songs, but that was it.

And the band themselves seem to be very highly hypocritical. For their first two albums they used no curse words, and their reasoning behind that was because they "believed" that curse words were simply beating around the bush as far as saying what you meant. On Minutes to Midnight you hear the word fuck spewed at random. What the hell is that crap? Hypocritical bastards.

@ ElendarSilvermoon:
I'm not sure why that is, but people do change along with their beliefs. I'm not sure why Mintues to Midnight lost you, their songs for me at least have always been straight forward with the means behind it. Then again, each song might have a different meaning for each person who listens to it.

I would have to say that there lyrics on any CD weren't whiny. Everyone goes through break downs and a lot of people want to run away from home and so on.(speaking about past CDs)
All they did was bring that to light and let others know they weren't alone in feeling like their lives didn't matter or that their families weren't prefect.

Minutes to Midnight on some of their songs are directed by what has happen to the United States. The fuel prices going up and so on.

Well seeing as how they took a break and came back to make this cd, it makes sense that it would sound different from their last two albums.

I happen to love everything they have made.

Their new album is amazing! I Love it!
I can't stop listening to it. They come up with better songs by the album! Way better than their remix with Jay-Z!

Well i've been a fan of Linkin park since
i was in 5th grade, for five long years.
I'm the biggest fan of their first two cds.
I've been to many many of their concerts.
They were my favourite band longer than any other.
And their new cd was a huge dissappointment to me.
I just thought it was way too soft.
They only had a few "hard rock" songs.
It just seemed like they pansied out
and caved in to the media's popular demand to calm down. :(
Although it still is a very good album,
it's not Linkin Park - good.

EDIT: I forgot about their ablum with Jay-Z,
of course their new album is better than that one,
it sucked!

a great choice on their part to work with jay-z.

out. it just seems like one of the older albums, remade is all. but i like it =]

I never really listened to Linkin Park that much till a year or two ago. But I really like all their stuff. It's different and they have a good mix of really fast and slow songs.

I've only heard a little bit of the music from it, but... From what I've heard, some of the stuff is too far from the good stuff they did- Hybrid Theory and Meteora stuff. I own Meteora, my best male friend gave it to me, and I swear there is not a single song on there I dislike.

I doubt I could say the same about Minutes to Midnight, though I'd probably still buy it for the one song I know I like on there, "What I've Done". I'd have to hear more of the CD to form a better opinion, but...

They've moved too far from songs like "Faint", "One Step Closer", and "Lying From You"- all of which I absolutely love. Part of that is that they *are* such loud songs, that you can lose yourself in the noise and pretend that the world doesn't exist because, quite frankly, you can't hear it. Since I started listening to Linkin Park, it's been an escape from frustration as well as a release of it, especially since my mom and I always fight. (Which is part of how I got into their music- I relate to the message of "Numb" quite well, actually.)

Minutes to Midnight is a disappointment to me in that respect. It's not the same music I love them for. But maybe, once I hear more of it, I'll find something I like it for, too. :)

I love Linkin Park! Just the other night I switched from Hybrid Theory to Minutes to Midnight and all I have to say is that the only difference I see is their look... Nothing else.

I'm currently wearing an Linkin Park t-shirt, so I am a fan but I agree midnights to midnight was quite a disappointment but I still listen to the quite a bit as I've been a fan for ages and Hybrid Theory and Meteora are two of my most favourite albums ever, I'd love to see them in concert one day but not if its only their newer songs.
On another note it's good to see some Linkin Park fans here on menewsha.

Hybrid Theory and Meteora are two of my favourite albums and I really liked Reanimation as well.

I kinda agree with those that say that Minutes to Midnight is not as good. I don't think any less of the band though, I just think its a personal opinion that the songs aren't as good.

Why do I feel like I'm the only one that actually likes "Minutes to Midnight"?

I liked their first 2 CDs but they sounded a bit similar to each other, I was so happy when "Minutes to Midnight" came out and it was different then "Hybrid Theory" and "Meteora". Yeah it's different and doesn't sound like 'Linkin Park' but its good to see them trying new things and growing as artists.

My favorite songs in general are My December, No Roads Left, Pushing Me Away and In Pieces. I like all their songs, but those are some of my favorites. :D

I agree with you about changing and taking risks...bands get dull and predictable if they don't tweak there sound or reinvent themselves once in a while. It doesn't mean they've sold-out or anything, it just means they're growing as musicians and people.

There new stuff is definitely different from there original sound, but it's still really good and I still like to listen to them.

I like all of linkin parks songs. I really liked their first 2 cds but i still like all of their others songs I think i like them so much because their songs tend to have meaning unlike some music. I also like how linkin park was different than some bands.

I love Linkin Park and I liked Minutes to Midnight. It's different, which is a good thing. It is there decision on what kind of music inspires them. I really liked Leave Out All the Rest and Bleed It Out of of that album.
My favorite song would have to be In the End from way back in the day on Hybrid Theory.
It feels like I've been listening to them for a very long time. Since I was just starting middle school.

MTM was a lame excuse for a CD release but I will still listen to their old stuff and maybe new stuff if they continue.

All the wait for a lame CD which was like....not even their style.
That is my opinion. I used to be a hardcore LP fan. Not so much now.
I felt I was let down A lot of fans do.

When I like my bands I LIKE them...so even though MTM was different it was a good kind of different

LP has always been about feelings and situations that are hurtful, and MTM is more grown up in a sense that they are not just talking about feelings and relationships with people but with us and the world...think about it, what I've done is not only about the environment but our obesity problem in the US, everything that society has caused that is not for the betterment of the human race is what that song is about...which is the premise for the music video....

I've been a fan since "one step closer" and "crawling"...and I found their demo song "dedicated"....LP has helped me through my years of middle school where I was an outcast, not because I didn't socialize but I moved away from my friends I had known for the grade school years...I fought with my parents...Points of Authority is a song I dedicate to my dad to this day...

In MTM they tackle bigger problems, in a way they "grew up" which it seems fine to use those swear words, we are not 12 anymore...and kids these days listen to much worse in terms of swear words...

What I'm trying to say is that I am a die hard fan of LP and I loved Reanimation, and the Jay-Z remixes...they were the same but had a different beat...I don't stick to one genre of music, so when they change it up I actually like it...
Also they were told to go a little away from the rapping because it wasn't as appealing to the new crowd...but it wasn't really up to them it was the record company...((they did sneak a little in however in mike's songs))

blah...I'm done ranting now...
