So, growing up we have what we call "egg machines". Some places call them gacha machines, some call them capsule machines, whatever they are, you stick a couple of quarters into them, prizes come out! What was the coolest thing you got from a capsule machine?
My personal favorite, and one I still have, is from back when Pokemon was super popular. Ridiculously so. At a Chinese buffet I saw a machine that had Pokemon keychains. I so badly wanted one! I put my quarters in and prayed that the machine wasn't lying. I opened my egg and found... this.
I was so ecstatic. I LOVED Eevee. Still do, actually. But to have THIS come out of a machine for fifty cents? I was the happiest kid ever. Still am, because I just took this picture a few minutes ago. Yup, this keychain is on my keyring with a stuffed cat I have for my darling departed. I'm never letting it go.
So, what are your egg/gacha/capsule machine stories?

OMG A GASHAPON THREAD!
I have this weird obsession where I got to get at least one when I pass by a machine.
Best thing I ever got was a Pichu from a machine in Japan. It was such high quality. It was a long time ago before Pichu was even known in the West.

Oooh. o:
...I get the feeling Pokemon had the best things in capsule machines. I do recall this one place having tiny, really detailed, plastic figures of animals. Kind of like what they sold in crystal stores (and still do) but for kids. There were like.. three left, and I ran out of quarters before I could get one. I never saw them again. ;;

We have these, just not in overly many places. There's usually one in big indoor shopping centres, and there's a couple in our local Toys R Us. The only time i remember using them was when Pokémon Diamond & Pearl came out and there were lots of little keyring Pokémon in them. I got a Pichu and a Chikorita. Most of the time there's nothing worth having in them!

Oooh. They're not in many places? That's never fun. I love looking at them. When we go on long trips and we stop I tend to look at them, size them up. Normally they only have junk in them meant to waste money and keep weeabits entertained, but every once in a while I'll find something really cool.
The ones we have in movie theaters are kind of meh though. A dollar per thing and it's normally Domo-kun. ..I'm not a fan of him, he's kind of.. creepy.
I'm becoming more and more convinced that pokemon put out the best everything. Capsule toys, BK toys, games.. Let's face it, they've sold 20-ish (R/B/Y/G/S/C/R/S/E/FR/LG/D/P/Pl/SS/HG/B/W/B2/W2/X/Y) ((Did I miss any that follow this type of story?)) of the same game with updated graphics, characters, and places. But it's the same thing! Over and over. And made zillions. And still are!

RUBBER DUCKIES!
We had one of those prize machines that was filled with small rubber ducks. Oh man. I love rubber ducks. Even when I would get just duck stickers I was happy, but never as happy as when I would get one of those tiny ducks. I think my favorite is the skunk patterned one because he's the same colors as my Batman statue and he fits perfectly in Batman's flexed arm.

That sound way too adorable. We had a rubber duck like machine at one point. It wasn't rubber though, they were gel-like and filled with weird little beads. I got two of them before I stopped, but I still have them.

My uncle and I used to collect the Homies figurines.
Now I miss collecting gachas.

Oh man! There was a Pokemon figurine one that I used to go to during the first wave of the Pokemon hype, the figurines were all surprisingly well made and well painted, but they were teeny tiny (which only made me love them even more).
I had a pretty cool collection going, but my absolute favourite was Bulbasaur.

I remember these from a long time ago, most of them were/are still junk. When I was younger I was obsessed with collecting rubber bouncy balls and would always get one when I went to the store/market/whatever. I've long since stopped getting them and can't remember what I've done with all the balls.
But the coolest thing I ever got out of it, was this cheap necklace with an initial on it (like A, B, C, etc). Funny thing is, is that I got the exact initial of my first name the only time I had put money into it!

@Cherish- Ooh, that sounds like a great capsule item! I wish those had been around here when Pokemon first came out. I think there might be some now, but you have to pay a dollar and it's only the new ones. Sounds like a nifty thing to collect though!
@Yamka Jaden- Sometime I get bouncy balls because I'm easily entertained by bouncing them. Now I just toss a baseball up and down though. x3;; It's cool that you got a necklace with your initial on it though! I never tried to get one of those.
Ah, I am suddenly reminded of these three necklaces I got one day when I was coming back from work. They were weird and leopard print. One was orange, one blue, and one green. They were in all different shapes and were pretty nifty. I feel like maybe egg machines on the highway at the fast food stops may have some of the better stuff now.
