My actual point is, these jokes aren't funny to people who have to deal with the reality that people actually DO these things to children. I can't possibly find the humor in something that I've read a person actually doing to a child. I couldn't possibly find the humor in something I've seen been done to a child. I have had to sit through a dead baby slide show, I've had to look at children's wounds to be able to tell what caused them and how.
Then, I get online or hear someone think they're being cute and oh so funny and all I can think about is, how is this funny when people actually have the ability to do what these others are joking about.
I was, like several other people in this thread, discussing why I don't think these jokes are funny. Why I think they are distasteful, rude and discusting. I guess I just should have stated that and people wouldn't have jumped on me like they didn't do to the others.

Sorry. >-> I keep trying to defend rakwel and it's getting me in trouble.
I get your point, since I don't like the jokes either. I was just saying that rakwel isn't a baby-murderer---which I guess most people already knew... I don't want anyone thinking that...so I'm getting too jumpy. Dx I really am sorry... D:

You guys really shouldn't take things so personal.
When someone tells a dead baby joke, it doesn't mean they want a baby dead. It doesn't mean they like hearing about children dying or being hurt.
If anything, this is to help some people with the thought of dead children. Humor helps them feel better, or some people at least, and as sick as that may sound, you have to realize that the jokes are not directed at you to make you feel bad.

I love them as well. I don't know why, but dead baby jokes are the best for breaking tension (pervy jokes are good as well). In my opinion, a joke is a joke and anyone that gets offended by one needs a reality check.

Eh. I'm sort of sickly fascinated by the dead baby jokes. Sometimes they bother me, and other times I'm indifferent. Definitely depends on a mood, for me.
Jonathon Swift's proposal was amazing, though. I think that was the most amusing satire I read.

I don't get them -- I think you have to be sick and completely sadistic and twisted to find enjoyment in the fact of dead mutilated babies.
It's not a joke in most cases -- this stuff actually happens. It's not a "why did a chicken cross the road" type joke. This is real.
Ugh, I don't even like talking about this -- next topic, please. >_>;

xDDD I'm a rather sick person, I'll definately admit that. :3
But when telling 'jokes' to me, it takes a lot to actually make me laugh. >< I'm picky when it comes to my humor, and will often slam another, (or a comedian I see on TV xD) if they tell me something completely ridiculous. I had a friend who was quite obsessed with these 'dead baby jokes'. She had a book where the entire back page was filled with them.. so of course I read them.
They didn't really appeal to that demented side of Ruki. ;-; But I still read them anyways (shame I can't remember any of them) though I didn't laugh. I mostly frowned at the idiocy of them. xDDD Like who's the psychotic who decided to throw a story about a mangled baby corpse around and thought it was humorous? << It's just not! Not because it's considered to be *gasp* shameful, but because it's just.. not.. funny. v.v;;
It's like saying, "What's better than ten dead kittens stapled to ten trees?" One dead kitten stapled to one tree.
OH HAHAHA... wait... o.o;; That wasn't funny. DDDx
(And called me sick and cruel, but I'm more affected when animals get wasted rather than humans. Pro-life my ass, we're all wasting ourselves away and WE'RE going to start the apocalypse, not the dead. D<)

I guess I have a hard time disassociating the anonymous, faceless baby in the joke from 'someone's baby', with a mother and a family. I can't just think of 'baby' as an item, it will always be a living, breathing term to me.

I can't imagine how that would break tension... xD If I was at a party and things were getting stale, the first thing to come to mind definitely wouldn't be "Hey, I know what will liven this party up! Dead babies!" And if someone did that at a party with my friends, I think they would just stare at that person and then someone would say, "Get out."

- This is what I would call sick and twisted humor. They are awful jokes, but they break tension. Do you guys seriously think that I would laugh if I saw a dead baby nailed to a tree? That is disgusting and vile. Just because I find these jokes amusing doesn't mean that I would laugh at a REAL pile of dead babies.
I understand why you guys would think that these jokes are horrible, and I deeply respect that. But what is the difference between making racist jokes, jokes about murders, jokes about rape and making a joke about a dead baby? Lightin up people.

See, the problem with these jokes is that it's a sore spot and controversial topic. It's like those racial jokes going on--one thing I never get is how come it's ok for someone of their own race to call each other slurs, but anyone else who does so is immediately pounced on. :| Personally, I just don't use any of the slurs. ((Another example: how is calling to your friend "hey, bitch!" a sign of affection?))
But on the other hand, I'm guilty of laughing at the dead baby jokes my friend tells. Again, it's not that I truly believe they're funny--it's because it's so absurd that you end up laughing and then go "...but wait. That's not funny."
And, like others have said before, just because I laugh at the jokes doesn't mean I go around nailing babies to trees. This is like the argument that video games make people violent. That's just ridiculous. I honestly don't think any of the baby killings occured because of a joke, either.
I'll admit that there are occasions for this and then there are occasions where you just shut up and keep all jokes to yourself. I also respect the opinions of people who find these distasteful and offensive--I myself find "chink" and "nigger" jokes offensive as well, but that doesn't stop people from telling them.
Just like with any joke, it's not funny once it happens to you. But we're not talking about Joe and Susie's baby--we're talking about babies in general. That doesn't necessariliy make it right, but I suppose some could use it as a rebuke against the argument of someone disliking these jokes because of some baby they know.
@Rakwel: That's the point I've been trying to make, and failing horribly because I get so wound up on leading from one topic to another I don't know who I'm replying to anymore xD Everyone, probably.
Anyway. A joke is something meant to lighten the mood or just laugh at--I wouldn't really go laugh at a dead baby on a meat hook or whatever. Anyone ever seen the show "America's Funniest Videos?" Everyone laughs at the clips, but who would really laugh at a grandfather flipping over a motorbike?

I guess we will find it unamusing right when we have our own babies.. I've never heard about them before but the two you posted were quite funny. It's quite disgusting if you think about it for too long but the jokes were well thought up.

My apologies, I misread.
Q: What's red and bloody and crawling up your leg?
A: A homesick abortion.
Q: How do you get a pile of dead babies in the trunk of your car?
A: A blender.
Q: How do you get a pile of dead babies out of the trunk of your car?
A: Tortilla chips.
When I tell those jokes, I'm not really thinking about going out and blending dead babies. Of course it's disgusting, that's what makes it funny! We take the most unethical and immoral thing we can think of, dead babies, and turn them into a dark joke. It wouldn't be funny if it wasn't completely outrageous.
