This is a roleplay based on Final Fantasy VIII. Set two years after what is known as the Second Sorceress War, all characters have matured somewhat since that time, though a few things have not changed. But that is for the IC thread to explain- this is the OOC. And in this OOC, we have a few rules.
  • Chat in here, not in the IC thread.
  • Make nice, please.
  • Post any planned absences here.
  • All bios are placed in here or PMed to me for archiving.

With that said, the IC thread will be coming up, just as soon as we have enough people to start the show here. Story will be in the IC thread as well, rest assured.

Don't worry, I have a plan. Sort of.

RP Rules

These will be posted in the IC thread as well, so no one misses them.
  • We follow the AMP, or Anti-Munch Project, when it comes to combat. What that is, friends, is a list of things that are generally frowned upon and will get you called nOOb so fast it will make your head spin. Read it and memorize it. If you get caught violating any of those list items once, you will be warned. Twice, blacklisted.
  • Yes, this is a literate RP. I will accept minor spelling and grammar mistakes here and there, but please do not overdo it. A good post is always readable.
  • Yes, there will be boyfriends and girlfriends here. Just keep it PG-13. Please.
  • Drama is welcome, big time. A story cannot be driven forward without it. Just don't let that drama carry into the OOC, or else we have a problem.
  • Do not, repeat, DO NOT just play the heroes. We need villains, smartasses, people who just don't like people. Yes this is the world of Final Fantasy VIII, but that world did not just consist of the good guys. There will be three or four different factions here, so there's plenty to choose from. Or you can choose not to be in one and just be your average joe.

Canons

These are the main characters, most of which you all should know if you played the game. However, they have undergone a few changes during the past two years, moreso than just age. I'll put a brief description of each here, and let you all decide who wants what.

Squall Leonhart (Played by: **)

The past two years have changed our quite reluctant hero. His taciturn nature has turned into a somewhat charismatic one, thanks to the influences of his girlfriend. He does still enjoy his quiet time, and there are simply some times when he wishes to be left alone, but other than that the shadow has left from his eyes and he has actually become sociable. As for the scar along his forehead, all traces of it are gone...

Selphie Tilmitt (Played by: **)

One would think that two years would have changed a spunky, energetic teenager into a mellow individual, but that is not the case here. Selphie is still her fired-up, love-and-peace self. Her uncanny ability to arrange events has produced two Garden Festivals, as well as made her web page in Garden the most popular on the campus. She still considers her circle of friends, which now includes most (if not all) of Balamb Garden her family. However, her infiltration and espionage skills are no longer blind luck, and she can still drive almost anything, seeing as she is now a certified combat pilot.

Zell Dincht (Played by: **)

Zell can take a joke now. In fact, he's been able to take a lot of them. No longer flying off of the handle as he did before, he seems to have matured, at least a bit. His capacity with machinery has brought him a bit of fame in the school, and he has started his own club as well. In the past two years, a few renovations were done in the garage while at Fisherman's Horizon. Needless to say, the place is now a mechanical mecca where Zell works on his personal projects, including a few custom motorcycles for Squall and the others. What those bikes are to be used for is anyone's guess.

He still likes hot dogs, though. With a passion.

Irvine Kinneas (Played by: **)

This man still knows literally everything about guns... and surprisingly, he does indeed know about women. Quite a bit, actually. He is the man to go to these days for relationship advice, but apparently nothing else has changed. His relationship with Selphie, the girl of his dreams, has evolved somewhat over the years, but not by much. After all, this is a man that will not change his stripes for anyone. He has become known as a marksman of high repute by now, and wears his SeeD uniform proudly.

Quistis Trepe (Played by: Marguerite Blakeney)

Now at age twenty, Quistis Trepe is still the older sister of the bunch, so to speak. Having to mediate disputes between Squall and the others when they come up is commonplace enough that she does not mind doing it. Having since gotten her teaching liscense back, she is still the kind woman that she always was as far as her students are concerned. Her personal insecurities have diminished greatly over the past few years, though everything is far from perfect.

Ah, and the Trepies are still around. Hail to the queen.

Rinoa Heartilly (Played by: **)

The princess of the Forest Owls is now the princess of the Garden. Her profound effect on Squall has made him into the man he is today, and she wouldn't change it for the world. Though everyone seems to know fully that she is a sorceress, a decendant of Hyne, no one seems to care that much. Of course, her ambitious nature could not be on a leash forever, and soon she had a drive to enter the SeeD academy. For the past two years, she has been training herself to become one of the elite mercenaries, and she has made remarkable progress. With that said, it's almost exam time... and should she pass, the world will see the first Sorceress SeeD in history.

Okay, one spot has been filled. We are looking for people who want to play the others. In the meantime, I'd like to explain what this is going to be about...

Yes, I know there's already a FFVIII RP out there, but I figured I'd make room for one that's a bit more... you know, expansive than just Balamb Garden. I got this idea from a previous story I had written, a scenario that took place two years after the game's events. Of course, no one could see that far into the future, so I created a few things from the already existing work.

Of course, a Garden does not spend two years doing nothing, especially when it's mobile. Life has gone on as it normally does for the better part of those two years, and SeeDs are still released worldwide to settle the skirmishes and conflicts that pop up here and there. Over the last two years, they have had extensive contracts from both Esthar and Galbadia, and have a longstanding relationship with both countries.

Fisherman's Horizon has become an official resupply base, and they have promised to keep all combat and military intervention to a minimum while in the city. Sure, that might not be in effect for long, but it has been back to normal for a while now. The place has undergone several changes, and looks more like a city than a shantytown, muchly due to the efforts of Balamb Garden.

The status of Edea Kramer, as most of you know, is that she is alive and well. However as far as canon storyline goes, it's unknown whether or not her Sorceress powers are gone. Here, for the sake of this scenario, I have chosen to leave her be and let her keep her abilities. After all, Rinoa still had zero idea of how to properly control her abilities. She needed someone to teach her; who better to do so than another living Sorceress?

Galbadia is, for the most part, still how it is- a major superpower. But instead of using combat and sheer force to have its way, diplomacy and politics are used. The relationship between the country and its neighbors, Timber and Dollet, is slowly but surely on the mend. Of course, such a system needs a leader, right? Well since General Caraway is such a charismatic individual, I figured he should be the next President. The whole dictator-for-life thing has been removed from the title- normal elections happen there now.

Esthar is no longer the isolationist nation that it used to be, thanks to Laguna Loire's efforts. Fully understanding the situation with Trabia Garden, they have offered to help out with the reconstruction of the school, from the ground up. The floor plans were relatively simple for the place (at least, as far as their technology went), and it was only a matter of time before they discovered and helped to activate the hidden engines. Trabia, like Balamb, is now fully mobile, able to deploy SeeDs at any location in the world. They have also aided in the construction efforts in Fisherman's Horizon, and have decided to initiate talks with Galbadia.

The idea of the military academy wasn't lost on the President either, and Laguna had a Garden built in the high-tech mecca. Esthar Garden, only two years old, has already had flocks of students enrolled, most of them hearing about SeeDs exploits and wanting to become a part of history; others there because their parents wanted them to have a good edication; and still others because perhaps a military life would get their children in line for once. Whatever the case, it's a fully-functional school now.

But of course, the recent situation in Galbadia is not entirely that stable. Their military force has been diminishing as of late, due to the lack of any real conflicts in one area or another. And because of this, a few officers and higher-ups have been getting antsy. During the time that Galbadia almost ruled the world while under their various leaders, they were necessary. With the SeeDs taking all the border skirmishes and minor conflicts for training purposes, they were left with guarding the city from absolutely nothing.

A few of them could not handle such a thing, and turned in their resignation, taking hundreds of soldiers with them. As a result, General Caraway initiated a plan that would involve several of the country's young men and women to sign up and protect the newfound peace. Over the past two years, the military has been rebuilding itself.

The time for the defense however has come, because those retired generals and admirals have been planning a revolt. And with a lower amount of skilled veterans on their side, Galbadia and their allied nations may not stand a chance against what is now known as the Galbadian Military Regime, an entire corps (50,000 total) of former Galbadian Army Regulars and Special Forces.

Considered not only deserters, but terrorists for their methods and means of capturing cities and killing without hesitation, their plan appears to be no less than the capture of all cities formerly under Galbadian control, as well as anything else they can get their hands on.

Once again, the time has come for SeeDs.

But the real question is... how did they get so strong in such a short time? What is their ace in the hole? It appears the only one who can discover this is their leader, whose name is unknown for the moment...

History: One of the six people from the original "Orphanage Gang" along with Seifer, Zell, Squall, Selphie, and Irvine, Quistis grew up in the Garden system. Balamb's been her home for most of her life besides the actual Orphanage, and she has recently found out she was born in Dollet. Being at an older age now, she has decided to buy her own property in Dollet and she makes trips there from time to time to get away from being part of SeeD and Balamb Garden's system.
