Edit: I am 86.47% sure I will create this as a roleplay soon.
Okay... so my last one has gone down the drain. It seemed pretty great at first, but apparently it did not go as well as I had planned. There is a new idea that I have in mind for a roleplay. I was wanting some simple feedback and/or suggestions on this idea before starting another roleplay. If this does not appear to be a suitable concept for a roleplay, I will simply save it in my personal archives as an idea for a story (I have many of these and never know what to do with them).
Now, the following is just a rough draft of sorts.
Quote:
Alethea – A sunken city. It was once part of the continent of Atlantis, but during the sinking of the great empire Alethea broke off and plummeted into a deep region of the ocean. This is also where the most abundant population of merfolk dwell; a king and queen of the merfolk live in the palace in the centre of Alethea. A special type of seaweed is grown to keep the city a-glow at night – the sun's light still reaches the sunken city, but it is in a place that can grow darker than the night.
Merfolk – Humans that are able to live and breathe underwater. They have the upper bodies of humans, but the lower bodies and several other areas of mutated appearance; such as fish or whales or octopi. Each have a coloured, round gem encrusted into their chest which cannot be removed – for women this area would be near the start of cleavage and for men it would be around the similar area – and each gem is a different colour from the next. There is a certain ritual the Merfolk have which coincide with these gems.
Gems – Each merfolk has one on their chest. At first glance they appear to be simple gems that are unable to be removed from their place; however, there is more to them than that. They provided the longevity and strength of the merfolk, and create an electric-type of energy that can be used as a weapon of sorts and allows the merfolk to glow slightly in order to see about in the darker, deeper depths of the ocean. There is another important objective of the gems: a ritual.
Ritual – When a merperson comes of age, generally sixteen years (about one-hundred by the merfolks' calendar), they are set out to spend a week on the land. This will allow them to search a wider ground for their 'soul mate'; they could be any being similar to the merfolk or be another merperson. Once they find their 'soul mate' they are to spend the rest of their lives with them as a human, or return with their partner to the sea; the latter part is possible because the human will become a merperson if they agree to live in the sea, otherwise it is the merperson who will become human instead. Once their partner is found and their love announced, the gem will glow and, after the partner kisses the gem, will disappear.
Sookumchuck – The name, given by the merfolk, of the war. Merfolk have a ritual to find their 'soul mate' on land and in the sea, but there are those who are wanting to stop it. They are evil beings who will stop at nothing to prevent a merperson from finding their partners, by any means – even persuading the merperson to fall in love with them.

If you find it at all interesting: great! Though, as I said before, if it does not appear to be right as a roleplay and better as a story, please tell me. If it is better suited for a story and you love it so much that you are compelled to use it, do not take the concept from me since it is legally under copyright law once I post this on the Internet and may not be copied or used in any other sense without my permission.
(( Sorry to be harsh on any level, but I have had work copied from me without permission before; it still angers me that anyone would take someone else's idea without asking. ))

Hrm. Probably a quick rundown on the evil beings? Like, are they just evil humans or are they some other humanoid creature?

I agree.
There have been few interesting vampire roleplays lately.
I wanted to try something new.
I need to think of a title for the roleplay....
Alegretto: I will not forget about that. This is just a rough draft for now. I will create the final thing once I am completely sure I am ready to take the risk to create the roleplay.

Well... I will go ahead and type up a post for the roleplay, and then save it for later when I am positively sure that I will create the roleplay soon.

Long ago there was a great civilization that had technology beyond that of any other civilization. The continent known as Atlantis was the home of this civilization. Envying their higher technology and way of living, the deities of the time destroyed Atlantis, banishing it to a watery grave. Bits and pieces of the continent had broken off and sunken into deeper parts of the ocean. One such part was the city of Alethea, the capitol of Atlantis before it sank.
Alethea suffered, surprisingly, the least of the overall damage of Atlantis. The palace of Atlantis is still intact, but the royal family had perished during the plummet to the dark depths of the ocean. Because of the darkness, there is little light. Most of the remaining superior technology was absorbed by the vegetation surrounding Alethea. Fields of seaweed and a special flower are the main source of light that is used. Though the royal family had perished, there were many others who survived.
The survivors of the disaster had changed over time, changing into what we know as Merfolk. Most have the upper bodies of humans, but their lower half is like the tail and fin of a fish. Some have had a greater reaction to the change, becoming almost completely like a fish or whale or octopi or other sea creatures. Each have a coloured, round gem encrusted into their chest which cannot be removed – for women this area would be near the start of cleavage and for men it would be around the similar area – and each gem is a different colour from the next. There is a certain ritual the Merfolk have which coincide with these gems.
At first glance, the gems appear as any other gem would. Upon further inspection, it seems that the gems cannot be removed by mere force. The gems provide longevity and an inhuman strength, and create an electric-type of energy that can be used as a weapon of sorts and allows the merfolk to glow slightly in order to see about in the darkest parts of the ocean. There is something else that makes these gems important to the Merfolk: a ritual.
When a Merperson comes of age, generally sixteen years (about one-hundred by the Merfolks' calendar), they are set out to spend a week on the land. This will allow them to search a wider ground for their 'soul mate'; they could be any being similar to the Humans or be another Merperson. However, not everyone in the oceanic and earthian kingdoms wants the ritual to happen.
The Sookumchuck are a group of Merfolk and Humans who want to prevent the Merfolk's ritual. They are evil beings who will stop at nothing to prevent a Merperson from finding their partners, by any means – even persuading the Merperson to fall in love with them. If they succeed, then the ritual will be stopped; if it is stopped, the deities that the Merfolk worship will cause great damage to their home, drive the last of the Merfolk to land and be forever condemned as a Human. The Sookumchuck are a sort of Aryan group who agree to work together only to prevent the Human and Merfolk race from joining together; they believe Merfolk were never meant to be with Humans and visa versa.
(( I might add a little more.... ))

That is the greatest idea for a rp and a book I ever heard in my life! I can't even decide if I should say that you should make the rp or to make the book! I'm dead curious to know how would work has a story for a book or how would the characters of the rp react! *-*
Keep the good imagination!
