- Completely new here and utterly dying for gold, I come to you, people of Menewsha. xD
I'd love C&C on my work, I never get it... I realize some of the shading on her upper hand isn't defined enough. :P Other than that, every crit or advice is appreciated.
I'm curious as to how much my art (a piece like this) may go for on Mene. o_o
God I'm a spaz. And I'm new. Scared to death of breaking rules so I hope I didn't screw anything up.

Wow! :0 I'm afraid I'm not much help when it comes to exact numbers, but I do think you'll have no problem selling your art. I haven't seen a lot of semi-realism art in shops on Mene, so I can imagine doing bust shots of this sort would be in rather high demand.
Gold here is a bit different on Gaia though, so the higher end shops seem to sell their art for around 500g a piece, or for sets of monthly items. But of course, auctions or "bribe slots" for full body artwork, assuming you are willing to draw them, rake in the most gold.
EDIT: On a personal note, I really like your style. :3 I'd love if I could afford to commission you someday when my quest is over. (Do you happen to have a deviantART page?)

- I'm honestly scared to make a shop thus far. xD
Do you think a shop or an auction would do better to start off?
Or should I make a shop and an auction for a full body piece?
And how long do auctions usually run for here? o.o
Oh, and I know Gaia is very strict on referencing and it almost seems like you have to be bad at copying things to get it past them... is it like that here? I'd love to improve on backgrounds and items in scenes but it's hard to start doing that without references... and art takes me so much time as it is.
Edit: I haven't uploaded any of my recent stuff, but my older stuff is on aphelps.deviantart.com ^__^
Oh and thank you! >_< God I always forget to say it.

As far as I can tell, art rules seem to be loosely established here at best. There's an unusually high ratio of artists in the active population though, so that may change.
For referencing, I'd be sure to cite your sources, and probably keep it out of your commissions and purely for practice if they come out too close to the original. But in general, great artists reference all the time for anatomy, etc. Just so long as it's not anywhere close to a direct copy, I doubt you'll have any problems.
A shop might be good to start off to test the waters, that way you can limit your slots and see how much interest you can generate. If it's successful, I'd run an auction at the same time, or put your shop on hiatus so you don't overload yourself.
I'm not sure how long they go on average, since I'm too poor to bid. XD I'd recommend checking a few threads out and then choosing what you feel is best.

Thanks for the advice.
I may start a shop tomorrow or the next day. I think I want to work on getting some clothes first.
Hrm. Maybe I could do some quick sketches first... freebies to get people interested or something. ^_^

That's usually a good start, especially to have a few samples of Mene avatar art to give a more accurate idea of what they are buying. There's a subforum for art freebie threads that's always teeming with art collectors.
You're welcome. ^^ I hope my advice was okay, since I'm not an artist myself. Good luck with your shop, I'll be sure to drop by. :3

Wow, very awesome art.
I'm not to good with prices.
I can say at least that your art could sell high. :)

- Waow! Very nice, Alicia! *A* I can't do realism or semi-realism at all, and I think your style is quite nicely done! <3
I think it would help you really nicely here if you open an auction than a shop. If you're like me (a.k.a. lazy XDDD), you may want to do that instead of keeping up with the shop and stuff? you know... one or two art for bigger pay, as opposed to lots of art for little of each or something? :O
Although... may be having a shop eventually may not be a bad idea <3 XD But just for starters, I think you can test your waters with the auction <3
Good luck with that! I'd love to see more of your later stuff in the future! X3

Gaiaonline is not strict with referencing, it is permitted and encourage with few exception of course; there are still some personal prejudice *nod* but copying something in an exact pose & clothing or to simply replicate a complete picture is not appreciated or welcomed.
Even if I can cite source for the pose you had used, it doesn't really matter; nothing is original anymore when it comes to human pose. Even a simple standing up pose is never original, yet countless artists still use it for their illustration and are not been accused of referencing, copying or pose-jacking. Each and every pose have already been done/taken by other artist before you and me... it is how we represent the pose in our own style that counts.
Any way Nice work! and I wish you the best in selling them.
EDIT: Trouble finding some pose? here is a site http://www.posemaniacs.com/blog/pose/ dedicated in giving poses to artists everywhere for referrencing, use it at your own will and whim for your illustration. :D
