the show should be called
"Are you as smart AS a 5th Grader"
half the stuff asked. is something that was not learned in grade school. the other half is common knowledge.
that. and i have heard the children are given certain answers ahead of time

Am I the only one who thinks they're getting the contestants from Jerry Springer leftovers?

Although some of the questions are "no duh!" some are pretty hard. I remember a question was like "If you were a killer whale, which one would you eat?" Obviously these 5th graders may know it but we don't! XD. (oh yeah the answer to the killer whale one was Seals! lol)

I love that show!
Except the host gets on my nerves. Alot.
He acts sort of mean to the contestants. I just want to slap him and say "Well are YOU SMARTER THEN A 5TH GRADER?! I BET NOT! D:< "
Also, the kids there are annoying..
BUT ANYWAYS! I love watching the show, I swear I always end up screaming at the TV when I know the answer. :3
Sometimes I don't know the answer, and when I don't I feel really stupid, but I swear some of the people that go on the show are THICK AND I MEAN DENSE THICK. D:
There was a question that was like:
"How many sides does a Trapezoid have?"
And the lady that was on the show didn't know, she said:
"Trapezoid..jeez what is that? I'm thinking of 4, but a Square has 4..HMMMM....*5 minutes later* IMMA SAY 6!"
6!? D:<
It doesn't matter HOW long you've been away from school, you should know what a trapezoid is. :3

I've never watched the show, or any like it.
I can't say I have more or less intelligence than a 5th grader, because I'm sure there are some child prodigys around that would put many of us to shame.
The show probably finds some of the dumbest adults, that much I'm certain of. Whether the rest is rigged, I can't say since I haven't seen it. o.O;
Even if adults have gone through college or high school and are onto more "important things," it doesn't give them an excuse not to remember the basics. The basics are still the fondation of many things. If you forget what 2+2 is, you will never be able to do 9000092+2 and algebra is going to be a foreign language to you. o.O; If you can't remember your primary colors, maybe that's one thing - not everyone aims to be an art student or plans to decorate houses.
Simple fact: every adult in my life, save for my mother, has said kids are stupid, and adults, even if they are so obviously wrong, are always right. Because they said so.
I outwit much of my family, and I'll argue until the day I die that I'm smarter than they are. I not only have a little more common sense, but academically I could never rely on my family to teach me anything. I strived to make As in all my classes in elementary school, doing my homework at school instead of recess or anything else, because I couldn't do my homework at home. :/ No one there could help me, not even in elementary school. It wasn't until things got stressful in middle school that I started to blow off work entirely, and I still learned several things.
I'm terrible at grammar, did you know? Most people never guess. :/ It's causing me a bit of trouble now that I'm trying to learn other languages, and there are grammar differences. They use the English sets of rules to explain the Korean sets of rules in grammar, by breaking it down into words. Me? I don't know what those words are. ^^; I've always learned by listening to people, and that's it.

I really didn't like that show, I think it's all staged.
But hey you never know?
Also, I remember the first episode how they only got through like 5 questions, it was pretty lame.. Cause you know, I was thinking like more? xD
But, the theme song is pretty catchy lolol.

I believe that I'm smarter than a fifth grader (God, I hope so!) I don't get to watch that show very often but when I do I laugh my butt off! I can't believe there are grown adults that get some of those questions wrong. It's so funny to see the look on the kids face when the adult gets the question wrong. It's a look kind of like; really, you seriously don't know that? lol

i don't watch this show, but i'd bet that now, i'm not smarter than a 5th grader. T_T i might have been a few years ago, but not now. i've forgotten everything i learned. i've only seen a small part of the show, and the questions asked, i knew at some point, but not anymore.

I think it is funny to watch that show. No we are not smarter than a fifth grader! This show has taught me one thing all the information they teach you in fifth grade is not useful for everyday life. HA

You can find dumb people everywhere..... I hope that I'm smarter, we don't have that show in my country.
But those things just get forgotten.. like math. I'm in upper secondary school now, and we had a mental arithmetic test, and the sums were like: 7x8=x, 1/x=4/8, and so on. They were the same things that we had in the 5th grade : D (I got full points!)
But sadly some adults didn't remember how those are supposed to solve.

I watch that show once in awhile. : P
Most of the time, I'm sitting in front of the Television, getting all worked up over questions I should know because I only learned them like a few years ago! D :< -takes a deep breath-
&I never get any of them right. Which, I have to say is extremely sad. v.v;
Once in a blue moon am I smarter than a 5th grader.
But, the V-O-U-L thing had to be like grade 1 or 2.
I'm not that bad. >.>

Honestly I'd be dumber. I hardly ever know the answers to the fifth grade questions, and I guess that what they teach elementary school kids has changed since I went, because I know for a fact that I never knew most of that in the fifth grade. xD
