I want to visit Los Angeles. The last time I was there I was only able to go past it, I didn't get to go through it. So, that's where I'd like to visit for a little while. California's not on my top ten places to visit though because that place is too, I don't remember the word for it so I'll just say, popular. And people seem to think they're all that and that their shit doesn't stink just because they live there.

@ Toxic Goddess - We don't all think that way. Yes, unfortunatly some people think that, but not all of us.

  • Well, I live in San Diego, California my whole life. It actually is a wonderful place with tons to do.

I would suggest visiting Balboa Park, Seaport Village, Horton Plaza (a mall), Little Itay, Old Town, and just walking around downtown is great. Especially at night. there's a huge night life in San Diego, I love it. Balboa Park has a ton of museums, gardens, an organ pavillion, theatres, and trails. It's huge, and beautiful. If you ever get the chance, GO THERE!!! It's right next to the San Diego Zoo. The best part is, walking around Balboa Park is FREE! a few of the museums cost money, but the first tuesday of every month they are free.

Those are most of the major places downtown to visit, and they are amazing. I've lived here my whole life, and I still love going to most of these places. However, I'm a night owl, so i usually go to these places between 12am and 4am when the are closed. But it's still fun!

Ummm, other places like the beach. DUH! My favorite beach is a small hard to get to beach that you have to climb down cliffs to get to. The popular beaches amongh my friends are Ocean Beach and Mission Beach. Mission beach has Belmont Park, which has rides and a roller coaster, but it is a highly popular tourist area. Ocean beach isn't as nice looking, and smells funny. Coronado Island is a fun place to go once, it's not actually an island though.

Also, if you're into the music scene, San Diego has a lot of good venues.

That doesn't even scratch the surface of what's here, but it does a pretty good job (I think so) at least.

edit:: I never thought it was all that great until I visited a few other states with my friends where there was literally nothing to do after 7pm. I'm so used to the night life!

I would love to visit Chicago and New York. I'm a city girl.

  • Ok so now on to where I want to go, or like going that's not in San Diego!

I love San Luis Obispo. It's small and quaint. It makes for a fun day. I want to visit some of the redwood forests. I've never been to one. THe furthest north I've been is Sacramento.

My father lives in LA, but I've never really gone anywhere there other than Hollywood, which in my opinion, like everything else, is better at night. The La Brea Tar Pits are cool, and are right next to LACMA (an Art Museum.)

Gilroy, the garlic capital of the world was fun, mostly because thay have a small theme park there, and some of the rides are shaped like cloves of garlic xD

I've been more places in California than San Diego and LA, but I can't remember most of them, since I was young when I went there.

I live in California, and I love it. I live on the north coast in the redwood forests, which are, I swear, my native homelands, never mind that I was born in San Diego. All the trees, and rain and fog, oh yes, this in my home.

Anyway, there's plenty of California that I've haven't seen enough of, namely San Francisco and Santa Cruz. One of these days I'll get to explore those areas more fully.

So, those are the places I would recommend to someone visiting. For cities, San Fran and Santa Cruz; for scenery, the Northern coast (Big Sur, Mendocino, Sonoma, etc.) and the deserts around San Diego.

Edit: @padfootsy: If you can, I highly, highly recommend visiting the redwoods, as soon as possible. There are still parks with old growth in them and they are simply amazing. The towns around here are pretty boring though, so don't expect there to be any night life to speak of. We are very much in the middle of nowhere.
I second your opinion on Balboas park. I remember visiting when I was little, before I moved to the forests.

Considering I live in California, a trip to California wouldn't be a big thing. But if I was going to do something special in my home state, I would probably go to the different amusement parks. Say if I had a week, I'd go to Disneyland/California Adventure one day, take a day to rest, go to Six Flags, take a day to recover, go to Knott's Berry Farm, take a day to recover again, perhaps at the beach this time, and then spend a day doing something else on that last day.

Well...I sort of live here, like most people here seem to.

Downtown San Diego is a pretty cool place to visit. San Fransisco and Hollywood are also rather interesting places.

Hollywood isn't really like what most people lead you to believe, though. Weird people there.

San Fransisco is the land of the hobos, so I'd be a little careful when there.

The weather here is nice. It's almost always sunny. Some people can be rather mean in the bigger cities, though. Chinatown in Los Angeles has some pretty nasty people, however, that's were you go when you want massive amounts of firecrackers or smoke bombs. >__<

Oh! Carlsbad is also a nice place to go. It's a sort of small city, but it's really nice, and right on the beach.

I live in California. But if i could do anything for a week i'd go to Tahoe for 2 days then go to Disney land for 2 days and on the last day i'd find the biggest mall here and go shopping!

I love Santa Monica. I hate Hollywood and the area around there though. Sacramento area wasn’t bad either. The Fisherman’s Warf was a fun place to visit too. I can’t think of anything else off the top of my head. It’s been years since I’ve been to Cali. I think I like North Cali better than South though, just because it was prettier.

I have to say running around drunk in the redwoods can be fun. Just were I am, have a good chance of tripping over a stoned hippy.

The only part of California I’ve been to is the L.A. area and Long Beach to visit my great aunt and to go to Disneyland. I really don’t remember much outside Disneyland, so it must not have interested me all that much. xD I wouldn’t mind going to San Francisco or to see the Redwoods and Northern CA.

Other than that, California just doesn’t interest me too much. Maybe if I visit a few more places there, I’ll change my mind.

Wondering why I am vacationing where I live? xD
I do need to get to San Fran soon though, there's a bunch of stores in Japantown I have been needing to go to, plus then I can get my kitchen restocked.
I also would visit my family in Vacaville since they won't visit me.

Well thats my home state, so first thing I would do is visit my family. Then I would meet up with my friends at the beach, hit up the nightlife in LA, and then drive down to San Diego for more fun in the sun. Plus I would visit old friends from there. ^^

Actually this was fairly easy to answer since its exactly what I did a few months ago when I went home ot visit. I only wish I could have gone early so I could hit up Comic Con in San Diego. XP

I already live in California. I honestly
don't find anything special about it,
unless you live in Hollywood. But then
again I live in a small town and I don't
get out much. I've been to lots of
amusement parks though, except for Disney
land. I would like to go there just to see
what it is like. But besides that, I don't
know maybe to the beach. I have never been
to one, because there aren't any close around here.

Oi, California was great but I'd never ever let my family go with me ever again. ><; Last year when I went to California I was only going to go to AX and then after that was over go to Disney Land. It ended up with a big mess and I fought with my mom and step dad just to go to AX *I had already paid the ticket and hotel fee for the weekend* and after AX there were two days left to site see but I didn't give a crap or participate. Next time I go it'll be with friends and possibly my brother and we'll most likely go to AX but take time to see the other stuff. Last year was just a load of b.s. ><; I'm never going to Santa Ana again either, that place freaked me out. I would like to see the hotel/ship Queen Mary though.
