Has anyone read Langston Hughes' Theme for English B? I had to write a poem in response to the instructor as well, to share with him what is important to me. x3 So, yep! Comments and critiques are appreciated, but you don't have to. <3
I Speak to You
I speak to you,
Instructor,
Not in clever words or coherent sentences,
In bubbly rhymes and limmericks-- no,
But in a language I hope that will reach you
That will require no speaking of any sort.
It's simple, really;
My frame is already on the wall,
And on that blank, empty canvas, I will sing and
Portray my whole entity
Through a small budding flower
That will represent me.
But the truth is
I'll speak to you,
Instructor,
Not in that tiny canvas of mine,
In the brushes I use and the paint I make-- no,
My real self
Is painted past the broken frames,
And all over the walls.
