Nickle, I haven't read those books but I noticed them in a book shop the other day. Mostly because they were trying to cash in on anything with a cover that looked a bit like Twilight (complete with a sign saying "Books to sink your teeth into!"). -_-
Woo, sounds like you're making good progress already Sassy. I think I'll put The Devil You Know on hold and start Don't Panic, especially with all this talk of Mr Gaiman.

i guess mostly because of people adopting your pets. x3
pfft. i've been neglecting my actual pokemon for a while. (i never did finish pearl) so gpx is actually helping me get interested again. :B
i don't worry myself too much over 1-clickers, but to enforce that to myself, i joined the 1/6 league. XD
we talk about whatever in here. it doesn't really matter. :3
NO I HAVEN'T READ IT.
i have too many other things to read, atm. @[email protected];;;
even though i have too many books on my bookcases i haven't read yet, i just can't stop myself from buying books.

@ KatMagenta: They involve vampires (though they're not the main focus), so book stores have been lumping them in with Twilight... *sighs* "Night World" came out in the 90s, but it's probably making more money now! XD
@ tirethminet: Really?! X3 That's cool - I haven't seen many of my pets around~ 8D
I know the feeling of having too many things to read. XD; I've got the last "Night World," the first "House of Night," lots of manga, and at least one book that a friend shoved on me a long time ago. XD Though I'm sure my stack is considerably smaller than most peoples'!

They had Wings on the same shelf and even though I haven't read it I'm pretty sure that's about fairies. Unless they have fairies that bite.
I could do '50 books that Katie owns that don't fit on her bookcase' challenge and I still keep buying more.
Looking very yellow there Mr Chocobo.

I guess book stores are hoping that people who got into Vampires through Twilight will branch out and read other fantasy...? I did, so it worked a bit! ^^; (Yes, I read - and enjoyed - the Twilight series. Don't hate me!)
By the way Kat, I love those tiny pixel dolls in your sig. ^___^

Twilight makes people so angry. But funny angry, like those kids who smash their keyboards when they lose on WoW.

Yeah, I thought they were hilarious. XD
Is it sad that my boyfriend read 'em (and liked them) too? XD;
EDIT: The star is actually freebie from this thread!
I've heard of some scray cases, though. o~o Like, there was a girl who was reading the series instead of doing her Chemistry lab with her lab partner, and the partner got mad (I don't blame them for getting mad!), insulted the series, and then the girl threw the book at her partner. oo; Took out the kid's eye if I remember correctly. People really need to chill these days. ^^; Seems like everyone gets far too worked up over the simplest, stupidest things. DX

Ooh, I have a star of my own now, thanks.
A lot of my friends have read Twilight but they're otherwise decent people (that's a joke by the way, I like my eyes) and they still don't understand why I have no interest in reading them myself. I've even had an offer to have the books read aloud to me as I went around sixth form. XD

No prob. :D
I got the joke. XD;
I definitely understand that they're not for everybody! XD; But a couple of my friends are into them as well, one has been borrowing the books from me (actually, my aunt has #2 still... XD).
One my friends who read and liked the series still has the same opinion as most people, "VAMPIRES DON'T SPARKLE!" XD (Granted, I agree with this as well, I'm just not too vocal about it) She's got that button from Hot Topic (I think it was?) that says that on it. XD

This link sums it up for me. While I don't agree with the use of the word 'Twitard', I do recognise not every one who reads Twilight 'has the crazy'- but a frightening percentage do.
Quote:
|
4. Twitards, of course, love Edward Cullen and believe in him as if he were a real human being. If a Twitard approaches you, planning to attack, shout, "Hey, look, it's Edward Cullen!" They'll almost always turn and spend twenty minutes looking for him. You not only have a chance to run, you also have time to get an iced latte.

Oh, I nearly forgot. I told Pie her dolls had been admired and she says thanks. ^^

That quote made me and my boyfriend crack up. XDDD
While I liked the series, I'm definitely not one of those "Twitards." I don't get upset when people make fun of it, I enjoy things like what you posted...
I do get a tad upset (but not violently so) when people say they don't like the series because of something that they heard and is not in the series. I've calmly explained things to people, and the "hardcore" hater then goes, "Oh.... OK. Then it might not be as bad as I thought..." I never encourage them to read it for themselves, but I think some have on their own. XD;
Healthy discussion is healthy? XD; I like being able to talk about things calmly and intelligently. :3

That's fair Nickle. Before Twilight was really that big of a phenomenon here, on the internet, I was reading things like "Edward is a paedophile" without any explanation. :/
I haven't seen any of the Twilight film (apart from in gifs where someone usually has had their head replaced) and when Edward is staring down the camera it's just creepy. *squirms*
Willow is making it better though. I should show cat-Willow her namesake. XD

In real life I will admit Robert Pattinson is not unattractive, just not my type. I would run screaming from 'Edward Cullen'. Especially if he came up to me mumbling (half of his dialogue was lost on me) with that creepy smile. I might stop to ask what shade of lipstick he wears.
For just 50 for your US dollars for the pair these dolls are "almost an exact replica" of Bella and Edward.

Yay, I finished two books this weekend (was on a plane). So far I think that Dawn's Awakening is my favorite of the series ^^ The characters and their backgrounds made this one stand out, especially after Harmony's Way which seemed a bit off. Harmony was an assassin but halfway through she just became... weaker I guess is the word... A woman can fall in love and still kick butt.

This is really cool. I'm actually trying to read 100 books in a year (not counting manga or else I would have already reached my goal). I first started doing something like this at the beginning of 2008, when my grandma mentioned former president Bush reading 100 books in a year. I took it up as a personal challenge. Last year I made it to 86. I hope to blow my record away and read over 100 books this year. I'm averaging about five books a month, which is better than last year's 3 books/month. I read all the time so something like this really easy for me. I'm not bragging here. No offense or pride intended. I'm already at 69books as of yesterday. :)
Nest year, I'm going to see how many manga I can read in a year. My goal is 200:D

I was so mad that Amanda Palmer sang at Gaiman's book signing and I COULDN'T GO. Eff Europe! Eff them and taking all the Palmer/Gaiman goodness!
I did see the "Who Killed Amanda Palmer?" show, though. :3 That was pretty amazing.

XD Pretty much.
He's creepy looking in Twilight! Though I find it funny that he was quoted as saying, "When I read Twilight, I hated Edward. So, I played him as guy who hated himself."
I will never understand how people can prefer Rpatz to Daniel Ratcliff (probably masacred that spelling). At least he's somewhat attractive!

Sorry for disappearing. D: Net died, then me and my little group of friends that were over played Apples to Apples till it was time for them to go. XD
Yeah, I heard that Robert and Kirsten hate the series (or at least the characters they portray). No wonder the movie sucked in my opinion. XD If the actors aren't into it, why should I be? *shrugs*
Those dolls are... just ew. DX I wouldn't pay anything to buy them, but I'd probably pay to see people destroy them in interesting ways. 8D;
I do think that Robert was really freakin' goreous as Cedric, but as Edward...? Eh, not so much. :\ I like Rupert better. 83 What can I say - I like my red-heads. X3 Though Dan is pretty damn hot as well. :D
@ Nike: Congrats. ^___^ Fantasy series?
@ Cambo: I'm not including manga, either. XD; I go through them too quickly (at least, compared to regular books). Good luck to ya! 8D
