  • I hope some one hasnt already made this topic , but I highly doubt anyone has .
Anyways The Poem of Wind and Trees [ Kaze to Ki no Uta SANCTUS -Sei naru kana ] is a shounen aianime released in 1987.

Set in a 19th century boarding school in France, this adaption of Keiko Takemiya's 1976 boys love manga tells the story of Serge Batouille who remembers his days in school, standing out because of the color of his skin (his mother was a gypsy) and getting shacked up with Gilbert Cocteau, a blonde androgyne boy who sells his body for school papers. Their life in school is filled with conflicts, desire and desperation.

So if you have seen it ; Who did you like most ? What would you rate this?

I have to say in my opinion its one of my favorite yaoi stories I have watched ! >.< It was sooooo sad at the end. . . I liked Gilbert the most, Haha he is very . . . interesting . Hum as of rating I am stuck but the number would definatly be high . . .maybe 4 out of 5 stars? I really liked this * sweat drop * .

I love the old style stuff. This was just gorgeous. The ending was sooo sad, though, so as far as boarding school yaoi goes, I prefer Toma no Shinzou (Heart of Thomas) just because it ends a little more happily. A little tiny bit more, though. Not much.

I really like how the complex story is handled, though. I haven't read much of the manga, but I saw the anime and had the artbook for a while. There was something a little mythic about the art. :D

Anyway, yeah, good stuff. I think Serge was my favorite character. I was a little annoyed at how incredibly slutty Gilbert was, but it was still kinda hot. XD I'm such a loser. Yes. Serge. I guess I identified with him a little as the "out of the loop" kid. XD

I watched that ages ago. The story was really interesting and the art was gorgeous.

However... I wouldn't consider it a yaoi... It's a shounen ai... Like Gravitation... which is ALSO not a yaoi.

  • Im glad people have seen it even though it was made awhile ago ~.
I have to agree the art is very pretty , I really liked it. . . yeah the end was very angsty...
Haha I honestly loved Gilbert ... for reasons I have no clue xDD.

Oh I am sorry for my mistake *sweatdrop*

lol I'm so in the habit of using that term just so people know what the hell I'm talking about. XD But yeah, you're right. It never really struck me as BL, though, as there was a distinct lack of love through a lot of it. Ah well.

My favorite image from this series is this:

Though there's one with a tree that I loved, too.... can't remember it now...

I've only seen the OVA, but I must say is one of the best (if not best) BL anime I've seen. It left me a very strong impression, not like other BL anime which are so light hearted. And the art style is really beautiful too!

I kind of dislike Gilbert attitude, but it's not much of a problem xD

I want to read the manga ;_;

  • This series absolutely breaks my heart. It's hard to read even the summary. I really hope the scanlation team I'm reading them from hurries...the temptation to know what happens throughout the seventeen volumes is great. T_T

I honestly like Gilbert...because I feel so sorry for him.
This is such a classic that I would give it a five out of five. XD

I saw the anime version about a month ago and really enjoyed it. It seemed a little open-ended, and made me want to go out and read the manga.
