Any fans of fantasy- I must must must reccomend Abarat by Clive Barker. They're great great books, wonderful plot and amazing characters. Plus, the author has done some FABULOUS art for them. Seriously, the books are worth reading for the artwork alone. I LOVE it. The cover artwork alone is wonderful, the pictures inside of the book are breathtaking.

General conversation- I like eyebrows and nose peircings on some people, but probably wouldn't get one myself. Because it's just not... me.
My mom actually started going on about how cool purple or bright orange hair would be when I brought it up in passing conversation. XD I think I'll leave my hair as it is, though, as neat as purple or bluw hair sounds to me.

^ My roommate used to read those, I believe. I've heard good things about that author.

After being obsessed with the show True Blood for a little while now, I've finally picked up my first Charlaine Harris book... and despite the fact that I have so many other things left to read I think I'm bumping it to toe top of my list since it's short and should be an easier read than some of the other ones I have waiting for me...

Knerd- I'll definitely be reading more of his books. Abarat was fantastic, and I'm impressed by the sheer creativity of the world he's created in the series. I want to see if that's made his other books unique as well, and if it has, I have another author to add to my favorites list!

Kamikaze- I keep meaning to pick up those books, but then I always put them back because I've so many things to read... Tell me what you think opf it, won't you? I need to know if i should make it a priority or not.

Iltu - No problem! I'd have started them already if it wasn't for the fact that most of the stores I'd been to didn't have the first in the series... but as of last night that problem's solved. I just hope it's as good as the tv series has me expecting it to be.

Yay for Clive Barker!

I would like to put out a warning though. If you go into some of his older stuff, The Books of Blood most notably, they are extremely dark, bloody, and in certain ones, very sexual. That being said, I absolutly adored the stories. But I've been under the impression that Abarat and some of his new(er) stories are not anywhere near so dark as his older work. (They good guys even win in the end in Abarat from what I understand! =O )

I just thought I should give fair warning in case anyone decided to pick up an older Barker book.

I really want to get Abarat though. =D

Nolori- I've come to expect as much when I go from an author's teen books to their adult books, and it's a good thing, or else it sounds like I'd be in for a rude awakening with Clver Barker. Abarat does have it's darkness about it, I can imagine his adult books would have a lot more. There's three more books to come in the series, but I sure do hope the good guys win!

Shadowfoot- So do I! I'm feeling a little nervous that I won't. Hopefully I at least make my page goal.

I just got a new list of books from one of my professors. *sigh* It'll never end, but that's okay. Currently I'm working through John Kramer's Time of Music, which is one of the first studies of music and time, and all the ways they interact, relate, are percieved, and so on. Sadly, I have to use a library copy, because the only other copies I can find are used ones for over a thousand dollars! It's not that old, nor is it that esoteric. I think it's just someone trying to make a huge profit on a little-known, out-of-print, rare book.

Don't you just hate that?

I've run into that issue a few times with my thesis. While books are technically still within the loan system, I've got to either spend an exorbitant amount of money to have them shipped to me, or I've got to travel to the resource centers that they are stored in. Even when photo copies are "available," there's a lot of back-and-forth involved with the library managers.

But if it's got the information you need, what are you going to do? :-x

Fortunately, when I was working on my college honors project, our library had everything I needed. It's one of the best stocked private college libraries I've been in.

I counted the books I managed to wedge into a box to bring up here earlier and Asda had some box sets of sports books reduced to 60p so I bought one. So I have 26 books here now- next year it looks like 26 Book Challenge!

Not sure if the library in this building is catered more for educational or recreational reading yet and the main libraries are all a bus ride away. I'm hoping because my course is science based I'll just have to worry mostly about textbooks which are usually updated all of the time anyway.

I just bought two new books today at a thrift store, Virgil's Aeneid and Homer's Odyssey. They're part of a set so I hopefully I find more of them. :]

So I finished Dead Until Dark (the day after buying it)... and it was decent. It was an easy read and the writing wasn't brilliant but the story wasn't too bad. The characters were enjoyable, but that could be because I'm already attached to them from True Blood. Needless to say I'll probably end up reading the others just to see where the story goes.

I just finished the 2nd and 3rd House of Night books in the last 36 hours. XD I must say, I'm addicted! I'm going out later with my mom to get the next 2! XD But then I have to wait until November to get the next one! D8

Ah, I can't remember if I said it here or not, but the final Night World novel is coming out in April 2010! I can't wait! 8D

I also finished Fruits Basket; this was the first time I read the ending of it. OMG, I wanted to cry happy tears! ;w; That's all I'll say, though!

*Sighs happily* I've finished 5 books/manga series in a little over 1 month! If I continue at this pace, I'll meet my goal a month or so early. :D I hope I can keep it up!

Oh, and congrats to those who have met their goals!! *claps wildly and throws confetti*

I think I should be at 107 now? Maybe.

@Nickle: I've tided my time by watching the book (and character) trailers on the website.
