Oh I totally agree. D: It completely ruins the characters sometimes, they should just inform us of the difference and leave it at that. >.<

Well I'd have to say Viz. viz has masterpieces like Death Note, Yu Watase, anything Ai Yazawa creates(I'm drooling over Nana currently), etc etc.
Basically, my favorites.
But props to Tokyopop and the others <33

Well, I buy japanese manga since I live near a japanese bookstore and it's cheaper. Translated manga cost $9.99 while I can get a tankoubon for about $5.50. I don't have a problem with reading japanese so I go with the cheaper route. xD

Back when I bought translated manga, I normally bought Tokyopop releases as they released most of the manga that I was interested in. Most of the manga I buy now are published by either Shogakukan, Kadokawa Shoten, or Enix. I buy very few Shueisha and Hakuensha comics.

Unfortunately, since Tokyopop dominates the manga market, I have no choice but to buy their books the most often. :(. If I had my choice, all of my titles would be from Del Rey. The seem to have the best title choice, overall(in quality), and they have the best print and translation quality of them all. Best of all, the leave in any extra content that the Japanese version originally contained. My next favorite company is Viz Media LLC. They also seem to have a better selection of titles(in which ones are chosen), they come out quicker than Tokyopop, and even have higher quality translations.
There's a third one I've seen some books from that also looks promising- Yen Press. They only have two titles so far, but they look like they're very high quality ones. They're also the company continuing the Ice Kunion Manwha, so that makes them even better. Ice Kunion titles were always very high quality, and if this company is how they seem to be, they'll continue doing a good job at translating them.

I have more books from Tokyopop. I've never heard of the other companies. Is that bad?

Mostly I read Tokyopop And Shounen Jump/Shoujo Beat. I have a few Del Rey, but they're so expensive that my other series tend to take precedence.
