I don't like fansubs because they hurt the anime industry.... but "Mew Mew Power" is just NOT Tokyo Mew Mew. I wouldn't blame a person for downloading it.

One anime called "Once Upon a Time" in English (Formerly known as Winderia on VHS) was changed so much, the company freely let people download the fansub. =3

I know that 4kids reallllly edited a lot of animes. But, really, most of us wouldn't have gotten into anime if it weren't for the uber uber cut animes that came to america. If it hadn't been for digimon forging its way to america I wouldn't really be into anime.

We have to remember that 4kids used to be for making the next generation of anime lovers. :)

No riceballs? Not THAT's obsessive. I mean, who really doesn't know where the show comes from? Everyone is just going to watch the Japanese version anyway. It really makes me mad because it just raids our youth of learning about another culture in a fun and easy way. Plus you get those people who can't pronounce anything worth crap because the voice actors can't pronounce it in the English dub.

I still remember how much things have changed, but apparently they haven't changed enough. Back when I started watching Sailor Moon, I remember that they took a lot of "controversial" subjects out, by changing the sexes of the characters and saying that the gay couples were either straight or cousins. Geez. I feel that if they think they have to doctor it that much in order to show it - show it at night for older audiences.

But 4kids is pretty bad, I mean Invisible guns? Horrible name changes? Omitting any Japanese culture whatso ever? Omitting any violence so we are left with "What, how did Jounouchi get over there? Where the heck did Honda find him anyway?"

That is true.
A lot of kids have been opened to the world of anime through 4Kids.
The only other channels that regularly show anime that I know of are Funimation, Cartoon Network/Adult Swim, and...I think it's called Chiller/Thriller?
Chiller/Thriller, or whatever it's called shows horror anime. :O
But as far as the channels that played anime when I was a kid, it was mostly 4Kids on Fox.

Grrr... their dubs where so horrible... ugh, just remebering the dude who played luffy's voice gives me a head ache.

Yeah the season the American version started on is in fact the second season. I think you can find the first season on youtube.

As for other series well I've never been much for Shaman King or One Piece but those really shouldn't be saturday morning kids shows. They killed Cardcaptors, also so not a under 13 fanbased show.

Wow. That riceball thing is completely pointless... That's why I watched Yu Gi Oh in the original version. His name is Yami alright. Yup.

I think the only good thing 4-kids did was Yu-Gi-Oh that one wasn't so bad but if you look at the two version of one piece funimation did such a good job

To be honest, when it comes to animes like Pokemon and that stuff, I can never tell if they did a good job or a bad job.

I HATE what they did. The older animes, like Sailor Moon, weren't that bad; they kept some of the names. Same with Digimon. When you watch the newer stuff though, like Yugioh or Beyblade, it's terrible. They take out so much and say that it's so kids don't repeat what they say, so the characters can be good role models but when you watch American made shows, they're worse than the original animes in some cases.

They made Yu-Gi-Oh a joke. First they changed all of the names of the characters. Second they made the show take place in America. Third they cut entire scenes from individual episodes. Most scenes were insignificant but it was very unnecessary. Forth they changed pieces of the scenes like signs, and papers, and screens. Some things were in Japanese and had to be changed, but they changed some things that were in English!

They edited some scenes that were to intense for children. Some dialog was to mature and there were some scenes where Joey and Tristan punched people. 4Kids was thinking that if kids never saw punching they would never learn violence. I really loved how Mia's and Mokuba's voices changed in the fifth season.

First off they shouldn't take shows meant for teen/young adults. Also they shouldn't change things at all. It's JAPANESE ANIMATION! not american. so Ichigo shouldn't be Zoey and Kishu shouldn't be Darick ( i think it was)! Plus that was the whole point! They all were suppose to be named after food >.< ugh........ Also Kishu practically rapes ichigo every time they see each other.... how did they even think it was an anime meant for kids?! >.<
