So does anyone know their blood type?
Do you know your parents' blood type?
Is anyone scarred of needles? Or getting their blood taken?
Anyone like learning about blood?
I love learning about blood. :3 My blood type is O- actually. Which means I can give blood to anyone else with a different blood type, but I can only receive O-.
Blood Distribution Facts:
38% of blood donors are O+
34% of blood donors are A+
9% of blood donors are B+
7% of blood donors are O-
6% of blood donors are A-
3% of blood donors are AB+

I have no idea what my blood type is, but it'd probably be a good thing to know! lol. But I'm soo afraid of needles. Omg. I get freaked out and woozy even thinking about them. So I could deffinitely never give blood. I would pass out the second they started sanitizing my arm. OMG! *shiver*
Funny thing is, I have two tattoos. lol. But the tattoo guns don't LOOK like needles, and they don't go deep into your skin like a shot would. Those are the ones that freak me out. Tattoos. I love them! :D

Do you know your parents' blood type? It's possible to know your own if you know theirs. And easier alternative than getting stuck with a needle. lol.

Lol. Ask your parents their blood type. We could see what possible combos would be yours. I don't mind seeing blood either. I just don't like watching them stick my arm. After that, I'm good. lol.

Lol. That reminds me from the first time I gave blood. I turned my head away, I was so nervous. The woman told me to take a deep breath and I did. And then she said she was done! I hardly felt a thing. I was amazed. She offered if I wanted to see it and I said yeah!
It's the strangest thing to see a needle jutting placidly into one's own vein. Was super cool. lol.

 Are you a thin person? Have small veins? That would be a big reason why they miss. That and the veins move sometimes...
People have missed my veins so often I don't mind it so much anymore. It still hurts and bother me, but it's just an annoyance now. lol.

no...>_> i don't think i have either one. i've heard some pretty painful stories about how needles have been moved around in their arm. missing is not an option for people like me. you have one shot to do it, and if you don't, to hell with it! i'm not giving them a second shot, so they'd better have the most experienced person there do it. i don't want any volunteers, i don't want any rookies... i don't have the patience or pain tolerance to deal with either of those.

I understand. :) I got plenty of friends who have a similar fear.
Blegh. I hate it most when they move the needle around.

My mom is in the army, which means she has dog tags. When I was little, she got me tags for myself and they said my blood type is O-
On one hand, I can donate blood to anyone, but I can only accept blood from other O- types, so hopefully I never need a transfusion. Just in case.

That's really cool. :)
I hear on rare occasions, when there is no alternative, it is possible a person with O- blood can accept O+ blood. Doctors don't want to do it, but if there isn't any O- laying around, they will try.

Oh the talk of needles makes me feel sick... x.x Anyway, I have no clue what my blood type is, but I know it isn't O. My mom has either A or AB if I remember correctly. I'm interested in knowing, but just the mention of needles makes my skin crawl. I don't know what I'll do when I finally need to get blood drawn.

I'm O-. They loove me down at the red cross.
I try to donate blood every time they have a blood drive since I'm universal a donor. You know, I just feel like I should. The needle's always somewhat unpleasant, but, honestly, I find the finger prick they give to test your iron levels more painful than when they actually put the needle into your arm. I've had friends who cite the needle as a major reason behind why they don't donate, and I generally tell them that that is a b.s. copout reason. I only say that to friends who I know are healthy enough to be able to donate, though. I don't say it to people I don't know or know have legitimate medical reasons for not being allowed to give.
Not that I don't have a couple of blood drive horror stories, of course. They're nothing really bad, and one of them really just demonstrates the competency and efficiency of the people who were working there more than anything else.

I know exactly what you mean. I have some very healthy friends, but they just don't want to donate blood. One friend is severely scarred of needles, where the sight of them makes her faint. So I understand her not giving blood, obviously. It's more mental for her.
I actually passed out while trying to give blood. I didn't eat as well as I should have that day, and before I knew it, I was out. But the staff reacted so quickly and efficiently that I came out of it in no time and was feeling well enough to walk in minutes. They advised me to visit a doctor.
And that was how I found out I was anemic. Simple iron-deficiency anemia. lol.

I've never been low on my iron level, but I did nearly pass out once.
It was weird. I was fine until they took the needle out of my arm after I'd finished actually giving them blood. My vision started going all spotty then, and it wouldn't go away when I blinked or shook my head. It kept getting worse, and I just started to feel very dettached from everything. I remember being very calm and thinking, "I think I'm about to pass out. I should probably tell someone." But I was seriously so dettached from myself and everything going on around me that I couldn't go from thinking I should get someone's attention to actually doing it.
That's about the point they noticed that I was about to black out on them, and man did they move quick. They got me reclined and on my side, and they were checking over me, making sure I was doing okay. Really, almost as soon as they tilted my chair back, my vision started coming back to normal and my brain followed right behind.
Apparently you can spot a person who's about to pass out because all the color suddenly drains from their face, and around their eyes gets very dark.
I was fine, and that's the only time that's ever happened to me. It's a very odd experience.

My brother is an emergency paramedic (he's training to be a firefighter), when he went to the hospital for surgery he once saw a needle that was a centimeter wide. He said that that needle is only used for extreme medical emergencies but when patients see how big it is, they cry and scream.
Note I'm talking about how wide the needle tip is, NOT how fat the syringe is.
I'm not afraid of needles, but I can't donate blood. I've tried twice before, they just can't find my blood veins. When I had to take a blood test to determine if I was pregnant, the doctor and nurse couldn't find my blood vein in my arm, so they had to draw blood from the vein in between my pinky and ring finger.

I have an issue with needles in my veins and needles poking into my muscles. Piercings make me squeamish, but I can deal with those. I have absolutely no issues with tattoos. (I have 8. One is a full sleeve: shoulder to wrist full color.) I canNOT deal with getting blood drawn or getting vaccines and such. *shudders*

They sometimes have a bit of difficulty finding my veins. Mine are apparently rather deep, so they usually take a little bit making sure they've actually found the veing before they actually stick me with the needle.

My veins are pretty visible and easy to find. So it's typically quick and relatively painless. I still can't watch them do that. But then, I'm okay with tattoos and I can't watch them tattoo me either. I'm a bleeder and watching it well up and drip down my arm makes me so incredibly nauceous. I feel like I'm not sure what would happen first. That I'd throw up or that I'd pass out. :P If I don't watch and make sure I've eaten something first, no problems.
My biggest pet peeve with needles (nurse/doctor type needles) is the idiots that can't find a vein to save their life. Okay...if you're not sure where the needle is, do NOT. I repeat: DO NOT! poke me and then wiggle your stupid little needle all around while making wishes to the blood drawing fairy that you'll figure it out and ta-da! it'll work. lmao. One time I was supposed to get 5 vial things of blood drawn. 12 holes and 3 nurses later they had 4 filled and the lab tech told them that would work well enough and they could leave me alone now. I'm pretty sure I could've found my own veins faster than them.
