For those of you who don't know, Detective Conan is a mystery based anime. It's about the famous high school Detective Kudo Shinichi, also known as the 'Sherlock of the Twentieth Century.' After solving a case in a theme park, Tropical Land, he and his childhood friend Ran are heading home. That is, until he sees a man in block suspiciously running off. He gives chase and leaves Ran behind. After witnessing a deal between a corrupt business giant and the man in black he was knock out and force to take an experimental drug. As a rare side effect of the drug, he shrunk to the size of a little kid.

With Professor Agasa's help he became Edogawa Conan, a 'Freeloader' that now lives with Ran and her hopeless Detective of a father. With a few gadgets made by the professor he is able to knock out Kogoro and use a voice changer to make it seem as if Kogoro is the one giving the deductions. For this, Kogoro gained the nickname 'Sleeping Kogoro'.

It's very big in Japan. Heard of it? Watched it? Read it? =D

YES.

Both the English and Japanese versions. I actually like them both about the same. Some episodes are better in Japanese, but they changed some in English so that they would make more sense (I saw this happen mostly in season 1 and 2, not so much in 3, 4, and 5).

I've also read the manga.

It has been hard keeping up with it though, I mean it has over 500 episodes.

I've only read the first manga vol. That's all the library seemed to have. So maybe the anime is a better option right now. Very Intriging. Aside from romance/comedy and fantasy. I think mysteries are one of my favorite anime/manga genres.

Oh woops I realized latter that it was Case Closed that I had read and not Detective Conan.

I don't really watch the anime, (I read the manga) though the anime seems okay. I've seen the anniversary live specials w/Oguri Shun and those are pretty good :D

I sadly like the english names better. I started watching the japanese version and had to get used to the names all over again...

Meitantei Conan has gone on for way too long! If ti was in real time (and it almost is since they rotate through winter and summer), then Ran would have long since graduated high school. There is no plot line anymore! It's almost entirely filler episodes that have long since become redundant. Don't get me wrong, i loved it when it first came out, and for many seasons after, but this is ridiculous!

Blame the anime originals for some of that. It has gone on for a really long time, but there are still good cases. There's a Black Organization arc approaching sooner or later. Hopefully something big happens.
