B made himself look just like L, acted like him, everything. He wanted to become the perfect murderer against the perfect detective (L) to the point that even someone as great as L couldn't figure out how the murder happened.

B has Shinigami eyes but he does not have a Death Note. The whole story written about the B cases is in Mello's writing and he believes it's possible that the eyes fell from the Shinigami's world just like the Death Note had done in Light's case.

So with the eyes he can see when people die and that's how he picks people to kill.

Oh, I have the book. I was lucky my parents even bought it for me, lol.
They saw the price was were all, "holy crap o_O" and I convinced them since it was the only book I was interested in and how I don't ask for a lot of things. xD

[/thinks] You know the woman who L remembers from the BB cases? The one Light tricks into getting her name and kills her?
She's in the book too the whole time with B. He tricks her into thinking he's some low detective named Ryuuzaki.

They end up working together on all the scenes / cases until they get to the final one that hasn't happened yet. But with the clues they find they figure out where the next one is going to happen at.

But the woman ends up figuring out on her own that the man she's been working with is actually B himself and rushes to where he is amongst the apartment duplexes they were staging in. He ends up trying to commit suicide but fails. He's arrested and then to jail where years later once Light comes around is killed by Light's Death Note.
