After I got out of my whiny high school phase, I learned that there are more important things in life. XD

I love you. Will you e-marry me?

Personally, the one thing I like the most about Valentine's Day is the chocolate - I've had some particularly bad experiences with the relationship aspect of it - but hey, if other people celebrate it for other reasons, why make a huge stink about it? The only way it hurts you is that OH NOES! THEY'RE NOT GIVING YOU THEIR UNDIVIDED ATTENTION! MUST KILL THE DAY, am I right? >_>;

Sure, yeah, it's commercialized. So is Christmas. You don't see much of anyone bitching about getting presents, do you?

My point exactly -- it doesn't have to be a reminder of love lost, you can make it something better, such as spending it with friends and having fun.

But then, that's true of every day.

Life is what you make it, so make it something happy! <3

I only had a V-Date for three years out of my life. Sadly this has been the most traumatic and loving V-Day I ever had.
We went to see Wolfman and got dinner at Denny's. It's not lame it's what was out near me. We wanted to go to the waterfront but 9 million people were heading that way. So the jokes about slipping five bucks for reservations did happen. I loved wolfman. It was awesome.

Later that night he got into car crash since we were going to go to the hockey game he wanted to check the route from my house. My baby is fine but everything was mess. He picked me up at one and we had relaxed day at his place watching movies. Not what we planned but it turned out even better.

I haven't ever had a date over Valentine's Day and I haven't had any heartbreak over it either. Basically for me Valentine's Day is like St. Patrick's Day or Mardi Gras. Just a color coated day with candy!

I get that people feel hurt or lonely on Valentines Day, but I hate it when people wallow in self-pity about it or blame the holiday. Yes, it's a "Hallmark Holiday". Yes, St Valentine was actually a martyr and had nothing to do with love.
But it's silly to complain about a holiday about the giving and receiving of love. You don't have to be IN love to enjoy the day. I mean, if you could give cards and chocolates to all your friends in elementary school, what's stopping you now? Valentines day can be about familial love, the love among friends, and, of course, lovers. It's not exclusively romantic love.

My mother always made it about family. She always does something special for everyone. My friend and I always get each other cards and small gift.

My family got together and some of my friends came by and we baked a cake together. It was the best valentines day I've ever celebrated and I wasn't given chocolate or flowers or a card or whatever.
It's totally about doing some special with or for the people close to you. :vicky:

I won't sit and complain about it until I'm asked, but of course I don't like the idea that it's a money-sucking holiday without much gain. I'm not a fan of people who sit and complain about anything, and especially not a fan of those that like to sit and complain about people that sit and complain.

I hate it when people don't see it for what it is. It was sweet. My boyfriend bought my mom a planted flower. I most be a good influence on him it was the time he gave his mother a V-Day present.

I personally loved V-day when I was single and even more so now that I have found my true love. I loved seeing my friends receive special gifts from their significant other and me getting chocolate.

Hell its chocolate overload around that time..how bad can it be single or not? Ladies you know I'm right
