I think 'Under Grand Hotel' is a good read but its not exactly cute and romantic XD its kinda hardcore yaoi

My friend explained yaoi to me with two bottles of nailpolish. That was in 2006 or so, I think. The bottles were Ed and Al Elric respectively, because that was her OTP at that moment. After that glorious performance I became a traumatized little 15 year old, but on the other hand it was very fun.
Later we found out she had done it all wrong, switching them around so Al was seme and Ed was uke(which works too...).

I remember my first (not-)yaoi pairing from a non-yaoi series was... I'm a bit ashamed to admit this... but:
Akito and Yuki from Fruits Basket.
Now I know that Akito is A GIRL (OMAIGAD SPOILERS(not really)! LE GASP) and as such unable to take part in yaoi smexings. Unless it's setting them up, which I doubt would happen.
But hey, as I said, I was a traumatized 15 year old, just gotten into anime maybe a few months before. How was I supposed to know?! Besides, everyone in Fruits Basket is so girly... except for Momiji of course... XD

Anyway, then there was another couple: Juubei and Kazuki from GetBackers. I swear I thought Kazuki was a girl(I mean... what kind of man wraps a towel around himself all girly-style?!) but then I read further and Ban-chan complained about that very same thing. Alas, Kazuki was a male.
That friend of mine showed me that one volume with the Hot spring trip and "forced" me to start reading that chapter.
Much confusion.

And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, was the story of my first yaoi experience.

Are we talking about how we got into yaoi now? Mine isn't all that interesting, but here you are: I didn't even get into anime until my sophmore year of high school, when I went and checked out my schools anime club out of curiosity. I ended up liking it, so I joined. Later, one of the members introduced me to Naruto and the SasuNaru pairing. Been hooked ever since.

I still enjoy Naruto, but lately I've been more into Bleach and Hetalia. Prussia/Canada from Hetalia is my favorite pairing at the moment.

hm.. i remember when i was a kid i was already addicted to anime, and kept hearing the words yaoi and yuri. I kept asking my big brother at that time to tell me what yaoi and yuri is, but he didn't tell me, saying i was too young.

But around 13 years old i already knew what yaoi and yuri meant BUT i didn't start reading them till i was 14-15 years old(a bit too young, i think).

i stumbled to them at one of those free manga scanlations and curiosity got the better of me, so now here i am! plunged into the deep sinful yet pleasurable world of yaoi.

And one of my best buds was the one who coached me to buy a yaoi dvd(junjou romantica) and got me more addicted to yaoi..XD

I actually tried stopping myself from reading it....
but temptation was so sweet i couldn't stop myself and started reading and watching again! XD

about current conversation...I don't even know. It was college I believe the original Anime Crew Staff who introduced it to me by showing Gravitation...and then going to AWA and having fun at Yaoi After Dark. So I got into it really late as compared to other people.

Since then I've gotten into actual yaoi manga and have my favorite 'what if' pairings in anime and manga ( boyxboy, girlxgirl, and boyxgirl.. I like all mixes ) and even in some novels that I've read, and movies I've watched as well (I'm one sick puppy when it comes to making couples... not in the 'that's wrong' sense, but it's one of those I'm always doing it, without realizing it... it's one bad habit.. luckily it hasn't really passed over to real life other then joking around with friends.)

I'm always looking for new series to get into. my best friend is a yaoi fangirl too, but unlike her I actually read through my manga.. she just gets yaoi manga to look at the pictures.

WHY GET THE YAOI NOT TO READ THE STORY?!?! i do not get people like that. my friend only buys manga just to draw the pictures never to read....the pictures are pretty amazing and you have to admit to that.......

me too. I do prefer to read fanfics but I do like pictures it's just when I look at the pictures I get too much into the technical aspect of the whole thing.

i looove reading the story. without it manga is just art and you loose all the fun of it.thats why i always well at my friend for buying it and not reading it. (its good though because i always end up getting the manga when shes done with it :3)

She'll read fanfics of her favorite pairing but she always skips to the 'good parts' in manga... I guess it kindda bugs me because it's like 'Do you even know their names? Or what their relationship is?' 'No.. but they're half naked and making out now...' why not just get porn? I like the stuff for the story. Sex/making out should accent a story. It shouldn't be the story.

Tell your friend to look for the PWP label on her fanfiction it would save her time on looking for the good parts.
