Hello everyone! Welcome to the results thread from the Valentine's Day/Lunar New Year 2010 avatar contest. :D Daria and I both have been really busy in real life, so we apologize for the wait for results.

We received SO MANY great entries this time! It was really difficult to narrow things down to our winners, so thank you all for entering. We both hope you keep coming back to show us some more awesome avatars! :D

A Little Diddy (Story Time!):

Once upon a time, there lived a magical Octi Queen named Octette. Although she was frivolous and bitter beyond belief, her people loved her... Mainly because she created a law that said if she found anyone hating her, she would strangle them with her own tentacles!
Nonetheless, once every twelve years she makes her way into the human world as a bratty, young shopaholic with a sense of style. The two pink lanterns she carries around with her are where her true form's tentacles are kept... Just in case. If she finds herself at a haute couture boutique that's a bit too crowded for her tastes, she'll summon her tentacles right out from her lanterns and slap the fools out of her way! Yep, that's why that old wives' tale says that, to cure hiccups, you must drink water from a cup with a paper towel over it to-- No wait, that's something else...
Oh well, Octette is sure to go out and order someone to make a wives' tale about her soon enough! Lest they get a house dropped on them...
In addition to loving long walks on the beach and downing a good stiff margarita, Octette also enjoys spending her human years fake-n-baking and showing off her talent in the ancient arts of ostrich milking.
Interesting Moral of the Story: Facade is bored and was born in 1992, which is one of Octette's years, apparently! Oh, and don't trust ugly old hags in cloaks that offer you apples.

Valentine's Day Avatar Contest
This was an overwhelming contest to judge! I got so many entries that it took me an awfully long time to pick my winners. :sweat: But nevertheless, I have decided! And there are a lot of extra prizes this time around, so get excited! :dance:

First up, I have a few special categories I'd like to award, for avatars I liked for a bunch of different reasons. Each of you will receive 300g:

~ Most Random ~

M i r o - This avatar made me :lol:. While it met the requirements of using Valentine's colors, nothing else about this avatar made me think of Valentine's day... So I thought I'd give you the "most random" award.

~ Most Regal ~

Luenola Marxiel & Cami - I really liked both of these avatars, and decided that you both looked like regal queens. So you get your own winning category. Congrats!

~ Most "Sexy, but Dangerous" ~

raszala - This avatar reminded me of a heart-broken Spanish senorita, out for revenge. :XD She's looking pretty sexy on top of it all, so sexy, but dangerous. :shock:

~ Most Hedonistic ~

Iroase Delschatten - I'm loving the theme of this avatar as well! It made me giggle to look at it. Look at you, taking everything to excess! XD

Celestrya - What a lovely pink and white avatar! While you don't have a lot on, this avatar is really striking, and as soon as I saw it, I "awwwed"! XD

2nd place (OMG it's a tie!):

Kiari - This is just a really well-put-together avatar. Nice balance and layering and clever use of items. This is a great ACish avatar that I really apppreciated seeing, even if the eye is a bit (more like a LOT) creepy. :XD


Fauxreal - I loved this witch doctor avatar! I'm so glad you decided to change the colors on it and resubmit. I was a bit sad to see it submitted in colors that wouldn't work for this contest. The story/song really added to this avatar, and I'm a big fan.

Silver Magi - I had the wrong comment here. XP Sorry Silver! And on to the real comment... :lol:
I love the use of the ivory in this avatar! I think it's a color that's difficult to use, and somehow you just remind me of a Valentine's pastry. I just think this is a very sweet and nicely executed avatar. Nice job!

The Lovers Avatar Contest
