Also, this thread is awesome. I'm a big advocate for... well... how to put it? Gender, really. And more people need to be aware that sex and gender are not the same thing. The LGBT community is in the limelight right now, but people still leave out the 'T'. Frankly, I think it's because people are afraid of it. People don't know what to make of it. Gender and gender roles are so ingrained in our heads, we don't know what to do with ourselves when something different comes along.

@Talking and Lehjamins: what do you mean by 'T'?

I'd still like to point back to the most original of my points that people should still be respected for their skills and assets to the community, not because of what they like to do behind closed doors that has nothing to do with their jobs, or what 'parts' are in their pants...

By labelling, you're still creating and enforcing a divide between 'straight and falls in with society's gender roles' and yourself. I don't want to be labelled, damnit.

In fact I can't even really say I have a SEXual orientation because I'm still a virgin. And as far as my gender identity, I believe I've gotten that across in my last few posts. I'm a person, who deserves respect, dignity, kindness and who plans to turn to treat my fellow race, the HUMAN race the same way.

When you get 'help' or 'respect' by boxing yourself (ie affirmative action in education and employment), that's not true freedom, I say UPSET THE FRUIT BASKET! (reference to a children's game where everyone in their chairs has to find a new seat, and fast!)
@The_Crow: well that's very hard to change. Its been this way since the time of cavemen. Even up until now in the 21st century its still not resolved. Well, at least now people aren't getting killed because of their gender. But there are still parts of the world that still hate people who aren't straight. Especially here in the Philippines. Its hard to find some people who aren't ready to tease someone just because they're gay or lesbian. We're still a macho country, that's for sure.. Haisz... i wish we weren't though... :stare:

The 'T' is Transgendered.

It's not so much people within the LGBT community leaving out the T, although there definitely are people within it that don't like being associated with the T because being transgendered and being homosexual/bisexual are not the same thing.
What I meant, though, was that people outside the LGBT community leave out the T because they're uncomfortable with it. More or less, everyone is being more and more exposed to homosexuality, but the trans community is still kind of... hidden. And I think it's because people aren't comfortable with it, and don't want to be.
Please take into consideration that I'm hypersensitive to negative treatment of LGBT people, and this is kind of a knee-jerk reaction I have, buuut I thought I might as well say it. ^^;

I wish they'd put a 'P' in there for pansexual, polysexual and polyamorous. D;
The 'T' also stands for transsexual and transvestite. ^_^

Hm... this thread seems interesting. I am totally straight unfortunately. Gender is just one of them known unknown man...

Ya' know, gender doesn't totally define as a whole. It is just there for society standards. ;)

I know people that are transsexuals and they have it rough until they get to know themselves. :)

Ah.. I see, well i guess i feel the same as those people. I'm still uncomfortable with homosexuality and transsexual, but i'm trying my best to familiarize myself and getting to know more about those people.(Ah.. did i make sense?)

Er... letsee... I'm awful at definitions, so I think I'll enlist Wikipedia's help. :/
Pansexual:
Quote:
Pansexuality (also referred to as pans), or omnisexuality is a sexual orientation, characterized by the potential for aesthetic attraction, romantic love, or sexual desire towards people, regardless of their gender identity or biological sex.
Polysexual:
Quote:
Polysexuality refers to people who are attracted to more than one gender or sex but do not wish to identify as bisexual because it implies that there are only two binary genders or sexes.
Polyamorous:
Quote:
Polyamory is the practice, desire, or acceptance of having more than one intimate relationship at a time with the knowledge and consent of everyone involved.
I'm pansexual/polysexual, and my dad has been polyamorous~ :)

Hm... I think I could be Pansexual/Polysexual, but I don't know if it reality. I mean, my religion wouldn't allow it to be reality. (>~_~)>

Thanks for giving us the definition of these words, briannamal. ^_~;

Aw, thanks. :)
And that's perfectly understandable. I'm the same way about being straight. I've tried liking only dudes before, but being polysexual is part of my identity in more ways than just who I find attractive.

Hm...

Isn't it actually LGBTI? I can't recall what the 'I' stands for necessarily, but I know an 'I' was added on recently...

Haha, true, but there are also some crazy queers (lolololol) who suggest LGBT should be exclusive... er... lemme quote:
Quote:
On the other hand, some individuals of one group may feel no relation to the individuals in other groups denoted and find such persistent comparisons offensive. Some argue that transgender and transsexual causes are not the same as that of LGB people.[
Also it says that LGBT(etc.) represents all those non-heterosexual, but that's not very fair of them! :lol:

@Luciel- Not quite. Pansexual means you like people of all genders (male, female and trans), Polysexual means you like two, but prefer not to say there are only two sexes. But, yeah, they're pretty nearly interchangeable.

(You guys really should check out that blog I posted two posts ago, btw.)

I'm always upset that most sites (except for one which I cannot link to as it would be against the TOS) do not include "Asexual". There are plenty of people out there who have love, depression, and everything in between... without sexual parts being a part of it. That's directly tied to my personal indentification as an androgyne.

I have loved, and will continue to love people, but without sex I've been left because "my best isn't good enough". I just also really enjoy messing with people's minds. Eventually (ie when it's not five in the morning and I haven't slept due to my chronic pain). I'm going to play a picture post game... and others will be welcome to join in too.

Mana-sama, J-rock and gothic lolita overlord of awesome, wins against everybody. As a she, ze is more beautiful, perfect makeup, clothes accessories, and as a he, he puts any male I've laid eyes on for months to shame. In the publication Gothic and Lolita Bible Mana often models his clothes for both genders...

Ohhh fantastic thread. Hello! I usually have a hard time identifying with any of the labels out there, but the closest I've gotten is that I'm genderqueer and pansexual. Something like that anyway. I'm just starting to get seriously into cross dressing, though I've been doing ambiguous for years. Sometime soon, I want to go out to a club or something, dressed as the opposite sex, and see if I manage to pass. I'm really curious to see if it'll work...
Anyway, hi, I'm ljos, you can also call me Pat if you find ljosberinn too confusing to remember. :)
