“Welcome to Hantson House. Your new home...”

Everyone in the asylum hears this when they are committed. Teenagers and adults sit in rooms trying to get out. Paired together by gender, they all hear rumors of something going on here. The head of the asylum is using the basement for more than storage. Torturing and unspeakable acts happen down in basement. No matter the gender, the torturing continues. Video cameras sit in the corners videoing the encounters for others to watch.

Now two teenagers have been chosen for the next shows. The last two committed suicide, which scares the girls. They are not too happy to be chosen for this “show.” After some discussion they escape their holding areas only to round a corner and come face to face with a creature. The girls scream as it latches onto one of the girls. A scream rings out as they both black out.
Both wake up in their holding area, the bite mark gone. One looks where the mark was. Now after seeing the monster and the scientists behind it, they try one more time to escape. Running out of the opposite way of the monsters, they soon realize that the monster changed the girl. Moving into the mountainous forest around the house, they continue to run.

Not knowing where to go, they continue their journey to get away from the Asylum and the horror of what maybe to come.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thunder roars around the dark cave. Standing to move further from the mouth of the small cave, Emily bumps into Valkri. "Sorry," comes out softly in a small voice. Red hair falls into her dirty face. A soft murmur to herself as she tries to get away from the storm. A gasp as she feels a rock slice into her tender skin of her right leg. Lifting it up to examine the damage in the burst of light from lightning. The gash is already healing, slowly but much faster then a human's body should. Shaking a little as blue eyes glance to the wall of the cave. There were scratch marks of how long they had been on the run.

Eye lids close as she tries to listen to the outside world. Though all that can be heard is the storm raging on outside. Curling up some, one eye opens to look at Valkri. Her mother put her in the asylum for not being in the right mind. Liking girls was not wrong to her. So when her mother found out she would be rooming with a girl, she stormed out. Leaving a lonely fourteen year old there to rot away. Two years have passed and now she sits here looking at her room mate. 'Is she really your friend little one?' a voice rolls through her mind, mocking her.

"Its okay." Came the equally soft reply without a thought. Valkri stared blankly out into the storm, letting naught but the pounding rain and the sound of both her own and Emily's heartbeats fill her head. Their 'cave' could barely be called such- More like a small bubble in the mountain that gave them enough room to stand, lay down and start a small fire, although she was against making one. She had the most survival skills out of them both- Before she had been admitted into the asylum, she had gone on plenty of camping trips with her older brother...

The same brother who had admitted her in the first place. Her peace was shattered as soon as the thought came to mind. She frowned some, brushing long brown hair, now more tangled and dirty, out of her face as pale ice blue eyes closed. Her brother- She had trusted him, loved him, he was the only one in her family that didn't hurt her, didn't beat her like her mother did, never ignored her like her father, he... He cared about her.

Or so she thought. Valkri shuddered at the memories. But regardless, after a certain incident, she had become slightly... Unhinged. She was a danger, they said, to herself and others. She was a monster, a murderer, a future killer. Her odd fascination with death and her attempts at suicide, not to mention the countless therapists and psychologists she scared shitless, ensured that she would be shoved into that terrible place.

...But she was free, now, with her friend, Emily. Even if Emily had a strange ability, she would stick by her. Speaking of which... Valkri turned to the other girl. "...How do you feel, Em?" She asked, voice soft by default. She rarely ever raised her voice, but it might have also had to do with the fact that they ate very little ever since they left the Asylum... Well, less than what they fed them, anyway.

A small blush crosses her pale cheeks. Though unseen from under her dirty hair. Trying to move it away to look at Valkri, "I could be better." A small joke as she shifts to lay down. The voice gone for now, though it never truly went away. Looking up with a sigh, "I am hungry." Her stomach would not growl anymore just pain her at times. Not telling Valkri about her liking girls was not helping at the moment. Wanting to be held or hold someone was starting to take over. Looking out into the storm, a shadow passes over. Laying as still as possible as a growl is heard.

Not wanting to attract what ever is out in the storm, she glances to the make shift weapon by her waist. A sharp stick with a rock on the dull end. If need be she could try and use it. Her strength was way out of control now after being bit by the creature. Still laying there as she watches the shadow. It seems to be pacing or waving in the wind. Closing her eyes to block out the sounds, maybe to get some rest or to settle uneasiness.

Something runs right by the opening of the 'cave'. Trying not to scream, a shiver runs through her. The noises were going to drive her insane if not the voice. They would need a better hiding spot soon. This was getting to the point of trying to find other people. Though by the look of them they would probably turn the girls away. A sudden itch on her back, has her reaching to scratch it. Forgetting about the shadow as she tries to get the itch.

Valkri chuckled mirthlessly, and nodded at the hungry statement. Her stomach pained her as well, but by now it was a numb feeling. However, her breath hitched at the sound of something growling by the mouth of the cave, and scooted back. She looked back at Emily and saw with horror that there was a spider on her back. She had recognized it as poisonous, although the name escaped her.

Without a second thought, she plucked it and threw it forward towards the mouth of the cave, although the insect landed a few feet from the exit. It seemed to scurry a little before it went... Somewhere. Either way, the creature put her on edge and made her slightly paranoid. And then the creature from outside crept in.

The wolverine growled at them, and Valkri vaguely remembered reading about them being extremely aggressive. She whimpered, pressing against Emily. The girl could be relied on to help survive in the wilderness, but for fending off wild animals? Not her thing, unfortunately.

"E-Emily..." She squeaked, knowing the other girl had a weapon. As if the word triggered something in the animal, it lunged forward, Valkri eliciting a scream of fear.

The blush returning as she feels Valkri fingers touch her back, eyes open to look at her with a small raise of her eyebrows. Then out of the corner of her eyes she sees the spider running for the mouth of the cave. Swallowing down a small whimper, she begins to sit up. She moves into a crouching position to get more comfortable in the small area. Eyes move to the opening to see the wolverine enter their hide out.

Blue eyes become like slits as she looks at the creature as it slowly walks in. Feeling Valkri move closer to her, she can see the muscles tense in the wolverine. Somehow her mind picks up the movements. Touching the weapon as the wolverine lungs and she moves in front of Valkri, only to be thrown onto her back. A yelp escapes her lips as she realizes the wolverine is on top of her and trying to bite her. Pushing the stick between her and the wolverine, it begins to attack the stick as if to try to break through.

Glaring once more, her knees move to push it off of her. Sending it back off of her, a yelp now escapes the wolverine and it glares at Emily. Standing up as quickly as possible, the creature moves to attack her again. Raising the end of the stick with the rock, she swings it like a baseball bat. The wolverine tries to dunk but is too late and is struck in the snout. A whine comes from the mouth as teeth fall out on to the rock floor. The wolverine scratches at its snout, trying to put the jaw back in place.

Gasping at what she did to this poor animal, Emily falls to her knees. The wolverine runs out with blood trailing after it. Tears fall from her blue eyes as the weapon falls to the 'cave' floor. Trembling with fear, she tries to put some space between her and Valkri.

Valkri watched with horror and fear as Emily fought the creature. She winced when the creature's teeth were knocked out and looked over to Emily as the thing escaped. She quickly went to the other girl's side upon noticing the tears. "Its okay, Em... You did it to protect us. If you didn't, it would've hurt us really badly...! Don't feel bad..."

She hugged the other to comfort her. "We'll change locations after the storm goes away, alright? We'll be safe soon and you won't have to do that again... For a while, at least." She brushed some of Emily's hair out of her face and ran her hands through the red locks, gently untangling the other's hair. She smiled, trying to lighten the dreary atmosphere. "And we both really need baths, too. Maybe we can find a lake or something to bathe in, unless you want to go skinny dip in the rain right now." She giggled at that, smiling.

"And I promise I'll find a lot of food for us tomorrow- I think the traps I set should have something this time! We could actually have meat and have our fill- I never really thought that girl scout camp could be good for anything, heheh."

Still shaking with fear, Emily tries to pull away from Valkri. “I do not want to hurt you…” comes softly from her lips when she looks to her. Curling a little into the hug as if to get some comfort. A nod of acknowledgment, listening to what Valkri has to say. Shivers run down her spin as the fingers run through her hair.

Laughing at the thought of going skinning dipping with Valkri in the rain and not having a care in the world. The thought lead to other thoughts, which she quickly shook her head to make them stop, ‘she does not see you that way.’ Knowing how hard it was getting food, she nods. A small yawn escapes her as she looks down at a pain in her chest. Three rips slant across her shirt.

Reaching a hand to touch area, her fingers touch open skin. A hiss escapes her lips as her body tries to heal itself. Short breaths of panic sets in, scaring her as she realizes this might take longer to heal. Trying to calm herself down, blue eyes shut half way.

Valkri was oblivious to the wound Emily had gotten, mainly for the fact that the girl's back was facing her now as she continued combing other other's hair with her fingers. She did, however, notice how tense the other was and frowned before rubbing Emily's back, trying to find any knots and rubbing them out.

She continued to speak, mainly because she could no longer stand the silence. "I- Why do you think they made those creatures? Were they for those- Those shows?" The last word was riddled with disgust, fear and anger. Her frown grew deeper as she continued. "And how were they even possible? I thought that stuff only happened in movies... But, even though you got bitten... At least you can heal really fast now! That way I won't have to worry about you getting hurt or infected! I can't find any aloe out here yet, so... Maybe if we keep moving, we'll find some and we can get all the scratches we want." The last part was more of a joke than anything, because Valkri was extremely sensitive and pain seemed increase tri-fold for her.

Strange to think this girl was the one who killed her own mother in cold blood in a terrifying way, the way she smiled and tried to make her friend comfortable.

A soft smile crosses Emily’s lips as she starts to relax. Valkri was working wonders on her back. Not use to this attention, she accepts it with some guard. Looking back at her with a smile and tilts her head to the side. Turning around and reaching for Valkri’s hands, “Thank you but I am fine…” As the questions cross through her mind, she shrugs.

“To be honest I do not know. If they were, I am glad we got out when we did. I really did not want to do the shows,” a scowl on her face as she thinks about what they could have went through. Listening to the rest of what she says, Emily burst into laughter. Shaking her head a little, “I may be able to heal faster but I can still get hurt, just not as bad it seems.” Looking back to her chest, noticing the pain was starting to fade. Reaching for the wounds once more she realizes that she is still holding Valkri’s hands.

Releasing her hands quickly, a blush rises to her cheeks. Crossing her arms over her chest to hide the gashes in her shirt, though she is happy to have a friend here with her.

Valkri was blissfully oblivious to Emily's shirt and actions, for she was more focused on the storm outside, which was beginning to stop. After a few minutes the rain was completely gone and the sky started clearing. "Morning already?" She blinked, but stood and turned to Emily. "Lets go! We need to find a new place, right?"

Without another word, she grabbed the mat she had woven during the time she had to stay put due to twisting her ankle before, for the purpose of not sleeping on the cold rock floor, which would get them sick. After rolling it up and grabbing the basket she had also woven with the mat. Finally, she grabbed the long, serrated knife she had taken when they left the asylum, carefully tucking it into her pocket.

Upon finishing, she smiled at Emily. "Ready?"

Emily watches Valkri gather everything. Standing slowly, she grabs her weapon. Grabbing the bag that was full of stuff they could grab before leaving the asylum, a few clothes and maybe a book. She could not remember all just that they were throwing things in. Spacing out for a few minutes not realizing Valkri is ready. Arms hang lose by her side.

Memories of happy smiles with her mother and father show in her mind. A small smile crosses her lips then a frown. The day, her mother caught her kissing the next door neighbor girl. Her free hand touches her cheek, the one that her mother punched her in. Sent her flying into a tree, the other girl had cried out. Now shaking her head to clear everything out, “Yes lets go.”

Upon exiting, Valkri looked around to see if there was anything about the area. Seeing nothing but a couple of birds flying, she began walking down the path towards where she had laid the traps.

The first trap held nothing within it, although it was clear SOMETHING had been caught, but had managed to escape during the storm. The second was empty, untouched. The third had the carcass of a boar, nothing edible left of the body due to scavengers and whatever feasted upon it. At the fourth, a rabbit hung in the air by a noose around its foot and the final trap, a deer cried out, struggling with the net it was wrapped in.

"Yes! We caught something!"

She did not hesitate in slitting its throat, completely unphased by the blood on her hands as she untangled the corpse.

Just as she was about finished, however, a loud growl sounded. She froze and looked around as the growling grew louder, until finally from the bushes emerged a large mountain lion. "Holy-!!"

Emily follows behind Valkri with a small smile on her lips. A soft giggle as she lets her mind wonder what she could be doing. A blush rises onto her pale cheeks. Running fingers through her hair as she remembers being able to dress up.

Noticing the first trap, she looks curiously at this. Moving after Valkri slowly, looking at the traps. Her free hand closing over her mouth when her eyes capture the carcass if boar. Shaking her head and continues to follow. Eyes focusing on to the rabbit, she tilts her head to the left.

“Good!” turning as she slits the deer’s throat. Shuddering as she moves to help clean her hands. Freezing as the growl reaches her ears. Her head turning to focus on the mountain lion, “Not now…”
