This is the first time I have let anyone else see this story. I've been working on it off and on for years now and I'm not very far. lol This is just the 1st draft of some of it. So please no critiquing. I am very capable of completely changing stuff if I feel like and may do so often. I just would like to put it up here because I feel like being vulnerable with my work. (I haven't been serious about writing this all these years and I think if I put it up for ppl to read I will get more serious about it) :D

Feel free to comment if its nice, but I'm so hard on myself for what I do that I don't need others to do so as well. Like I said some of this stuff I may change completely so if its not that good in places it will eventually change. Whether in my notes or on here. ( I'm not promising to remember to change things on here though either)
I also have a map but I'm not sure how or when I will get it up on here.
And when I write more or something, I will put it up on here.

Alithem
Every story has a beginning. What becomes of the rest of the book is up to the imagination of the writer. With words you can create anything imaginable. Magic, and poetry, the everyday troubles of life, and wise teachings...These all are just a few of a writer's possibilities. For me, I do not even know what will become of this story, nor the ending. I do not know what will even be on the next page. I guess we will find out together.

First we must start with a character. Maybe there will end up being more than one principle character, I do not know. But first we'll start with one and it will now come alive...A name, yes we need a name...Her name will be Solitryn...Yes, I think that will do well. It is far from normality but names I believe should have a sort of uniqueness to it. Solitryn, in our world, would be about Eighteen or Nineteen but she is far from ordinary in our world! Although young for her age in Alithem, she was One-Hundred and Twenty-Eight. Her race lives for about Two-Thousand years. She is an Elf as you would know her by. In Alithem there are two races of elves, the Firésti, or Dark Elves, and the Saeyth; Wood Folk. Solitryn is Saeyth. She has dark, wavy, beautiful hair in which she keeps long, falling to her hips. Her face is more beautiful than any others, with full lips that are a perfect hue between pink and red. Her cheeks are naturally blushed and her eyes are a bright green. She stands approximately five feet and five inches, her build; small boned, perfect breast/hip ratios, and weighing One-Hundred and Twenty pounds. She is seen always with a smile on her face unless the time is serious.

Our character is finished. Now to create Alithem with words...

Stories of Alithem

These are a collection of stories of the history and happenings in Alithem Before Solitryn's time...

The Five Kings of Alithem

-The Five Kings created Alithem from the dust and grass it had. This history story is the oldest of all ancient known tales of Alithem-

At the beginning of all known time, the Dwin'rretyn; Walkers in the Heavens, created the worlds, the land, the seas. They are the gods and God all together. They are the mother of magic and life. These Dwin'rretyn each had one son. These Five sons were sent to the world below to be born by earthly mothers and reign there for life. They were half-gods in simple context. When they matured and acquired lands for themselves with a kingdom to reign over, it seemed that everything went as planned. For Five Centuries, they lived in harmony and perfection. Then suddenly a plague came up from the sea. This plague was from an old sea dragon that died (first death of a dragon). It's carcass sank into the depths of the oceans and as it decomposed, the plague was born and came up through the waters. Instantly the plague was airborne and traveled to all Five Kingdoms and lands. The Kings knew their people must leave the infected lands lest all die from the plague. Each King sent out Seven scout parties to travel as far as they could and find a land that was not effected by this disease. After Four years only one returned alive with good news. Soon every King and their people left to the clean land. When they arrived each king claimed their own territory and divided the land in Five. Many great tales occurred and are re-told of these Kings and their great deeds and adventures of this land. One tells about how they each found a dragon. The people called these particular dragons Aerdrim; or Law & Order Flyers. After centuries they were known as Nadrim; Ancient Flyers. These dragons became a part of the kings from an ancient magic that dragons possess. Each Nadrim ruled along side the kings (for Dragons are very wise) until death took the Five Kings after many ages. After the Kings passed from this life, the dragons, succumb with grief or anger, withdrew from Alithem into secret caves, never to be seen again. Of the few that still hear the tales about the Nadrim, none know whether they are still alive or not.

History of the Five Lands within Alithem

North West Land

North East Land

North Land

South West Land
When the Five Kings came to Alithem, they first all lived together in the southern half of the land. But after only a short time, their people started fighting among themselves so they quickly decide to disperse into different regions of Alithem. One King had a very reserved, patient attitude. This led to his downfall because when the other kings were deciding who's land was who's, this particular king just waited everything out and took what was left. This land was entirely a swamp. The King and his people reluctantly traveled for days through the swamp, trying to find a path to dry land. Many died from eating poisonous plants and fruit, and many more died from drowning in the quick sand-like bogs. Finally when all sense of direction and hope had been lost, the remaining few came across a giant piece of hard land. Even though this ground was infested with roots from all the foliage around, they were quick to call it home. They built a city here and live there now. But the people overlooked one small thing in their happiness. A nest of weeds grew in the center of the swamp (where they found the dry land). This weed blossomed the most beautiful, small flowers every five-hundred years. When the flowers bloomed, they let out a toxic fume into the air and its roots let the toxin out into the water. Sure enough, on the eve of the bloom, the King and his people became very sick with disease and they started to mutate. Now they are no longer human but some mutant creatures living within the swamps forever.

The Main Story

The Crowning of the King of Alithem

...With the crown held aloft, Samaén, the high priest, crowned the new king Mashière. The great hall suddenly filled with joyful song and clapping. Now it was time for the new king to present a speech. A speech that was rarely heard but contained the thoughts, feelings, and laws for the coming generations. The people of Alithem thrived on the words of this speech and took every utterance as seriously as their very own existence. He rose in an old manner though he was still quite young. In fact he was the youngest Crowned King in all of history. As if a silent signal was sent, everyone throughout the room fell quiet. A young woman was off to the side of the crowd, but still able to be seen by the new king. Next her stood an old bearded man, cloaked in a worn cape. The woman and the man looked proudly at the new King, and at that moment, Mashière looked over at them and smiled. This crowning was more important than all others because this speech and new King would bring change and happiness again to Alithem...

On a hill overlooking a lake, The Lady sat silently. Hiding from the noise and celebrations that followed the ceremony. It was a small lake. So small, in fact, that most likely no one else knew about it. This lake did not have a name but it should have. The water was glistening clear and looked like it was formed from glass unless you touched it. Every rock, plant, and fish in the water's depths could be seen from above until light itself got lost. The only noise around this serene spot, were cooing birds and the beautiful waterfall on the other side of the water. Even though this place was like a dream, the Lady's mind was elsewhere.

She walked on the very familiar path home, but she looked around like it was a new forest all together. She noticed the leaves of the white trees starting to change from a vibrant green to shining gold. The air felt cooler and with it a change of smells. The smells of Autumn. She took a deep breath in and smiled. Finally all had been saved and Alithem breathed again....

((ok. Where did I leave off? ...Ah yes. The at the beginning where you meet Solitryn and get to know her ^_^ ))

Solitryn lived with her mother, little brother and grandmother when the weather turned colder. She cared for their horses, chickens and helped cook meals. She and her brother would cut wood for the fire in the winter and during the summer they both would go fishing at a stream down the road. Solitryn did not know any other life except for the one that I just described. The most exciting things that happened in her life so far were the visits by strange travelers and a war in a neighboring land which brought wounded to their town. All the women in the her town cared for the wounded and all the men supplied food for the troops. In her free time, Solitryn would walk the woods and fields around her town with her best friend, Alexander. Solitryn and Alexander grew up together and had pretty much the same occurrences in life as each other had. Except Alexander's grandmother fell sick last summer and past away. Alexander's grandmother was a mysterious woman. She was the kind of person that you would look at and instantly you could tell that she knew things no one else knew. Deep secrets that would never leave her lips. She was wise and was a counselor for the town. Also she was was the matchmaker. Though, for some reason she never bothered with Solitryn nor Alexander. Maybe she knew they had a bigger life ahead of them...Or maybe she just thought they would stay together and their friendship would grow into love as they grew. Well the love never happened. Solitryn was almost an adult by their years and the two of them had never even had a weird moment.
