I used to raise tadpoles I caught in my neighbor's pond. o: Super cute <3
when they were old enough they climbed out of the bucket and I'd have to recapture them. I eventually set them all free into a bush near the pond they were born in

I plan on letting them go near the place I got them. I might keep one or two for a little while. I have different types of tadpoles. it's pretty neat actually.

I used to catch tadpoles.

@ Velvet Awww, that's so cute! I used to do that when I was little, my sister and I would find the eggs in our creek and raise them in a fish tank :) I love it when they just barely have tails left but are pretty much almost frogs, so cute!

I used to keep frogs but then all the crickets in my yard disappeared and I couldn't afford to buy more from the pet stores, so I had to release them or they'd starve :c

Gah, I just adore frogs. <3 And since amphibians are disappearing and there are fewer and fewer of them every year, I decided to try and help them out a little.

Sometimes we get an influx of crickets here.
They are all over the place...covering the street.

I don't know.
When I go to a place I frequently house-sit at night, there are hundreds of frogs all over the roads. :/

@Jean; I've read about areas like that. o: and I saw something on animal planet about it.

It's actually a proven fact that frogs and other amphibians are becoming fewer in numbers. It's because their skin is so sensitive and the earth is receiving more UV radiation than in earlier times.

There's also a place, if I'm not mistaken, where crabs gather (or migrate through?) just like the crickets do. Forgot where though.

That's so sad :( And what's even worse is if the numbers of frogs go down...we'll have more BUGS...like mosquitos...god, I hate mosquitos >.<

Carpe, yeah, I've seen that on Animal Planet. They are red crabs, i think.

Deja, well where I get them at, there are large separate puddles of water under trees and right beside a stream. In one puddle there are black ones and another fat golden ones and black ones with golden spots. It's pretty interesting.

At least there's still bats. :'D Bats eat ALOT of mosquitoes. I wish more bats lived near me ;n;
