Uhm... Another story I'm writing. This one I mostly write when I'm in a train or a bus for a long time *shrug*
Let's see, as for the characters... They're RP characters I use! =D
... Yes. Original, isn't it? ^^;;
Well, since I created them myself, it actually is... =p
The title will make sense later *shrug*
Again, my native language isn't English, and I'm posting a page per post to prevent page stretching; if a mod doesn't agree on that, please let me know :3
Also, please don't post in here, just PM or comment me if you have something to say or ask ^^

He’s born for great things, he knows it. His unusual appearance should be enough proof, right? Long silver hair, blood red eyes… Yes, he knows he’s destined for more. Inanis’s eyes snap open. Another dream, another nightmare, another death.
He pants, trying to catch his breath as he runs a hand through his hair, feeling the sweat stick to the palm of his hand as it brushes past his forehead, body trembling lightly. He lets out a slow breath, mind separating dream from reality. As always, his dreams are plagued with death. A young girl this time, she grabbed a bottle of pills her mother carelessly left on the counter and swallowed over half the contents. She was found cold and motionless in a pool of her own puke, her body’s last attempt to clear the pills from her bloodstream.
Glancing at the clock the 21 years old male rolls his eyes in an annoyed manner as he notices his digital alarm clock, decorated with skulls, blinking SUN 4:27.
“Well, at least the time is on my hand.” He muses in a light tone, removing the blankets from his lap where they had fallen when he sat up. Plenty of time indeed, especially since he does not have an appointment until ten.
He stays on his bed a few more minutes, body adjusting to the change of temperature before moving out of it and to the bathroom to shower. His shower takes as long as it always takes; nearly an hour. Inanis walks back into his room while blow-drying his hair, moving to his vanity and picking up his brush. His hair is straightened out easily like always. He sits down, not yet dressed in anything but the pants he will be wearing today, his bare feet resting on his black carpet as he turns to the mirror.
A smile creeps upon his lips as he takes in the forms of his face. “Why good morning handsome.” He hums lightly, chuckling at his reflection as he picks up several items. Uncapping the black kohl he draws a line around his eyes, the line thicker at the tops of his outer eye corners. Next up, he grabs his mascara, applying it on his already long lashes, making them appear even longer. He glances at the see-through lip-gloss, the last item he needs to apply to get through the day, before deciding to wait with it until when he leaves to get the best effect out of it.
He moves to his wardrobe, a wardrobe the size generally only found in the room of a fashion-obsessed girl before thoroughly picking out the shirt he will wear today. Simple, easy to move in, yet stylish; perfect for his appointment.
He glances at his alarm again, it’s already nearing seven. Almost three hours remaining before he needs to leave to get to the spot of the meeting, nearly three hours of time which he can spend reading up on a thing or two. Not enough. He’ll just read more when he’ll get back.
-
He grins as he gets out of bed, the effects of his dream still playing on his drowsy mind. He’ll have to hurry though, there’s not much time. Amethyst eyes shifting to his broken alarm clock, Iocus coughs lightly. “Whoops… should probably call him I’m running a bit late…” he mumbles, seeing the hands of the clock frozen on 9AM, the time he had agreed to meet his friend. “Oh crap, what time is it now?” he wonders, eyes widening as he realizes that that clock, his only sense of time, isn’t quite working anymore.

Granted, he can still go to the kitchen and use the clock on the microwave but… He sighs. “Well, I’m just going to have to do it.” He scoffs, mentally bracing himself as he walks out of his room. He crosses the small hallway of the apartment before ending in the living room. The good mood his dream had left him in disappears immediately upon spotting the passed out figure on the couch, surrounded by cans and bottles which once contained beer.
Scrunching his nose in disgust, Iocus rolls his eyes before moving through the living room to the small kitchen attached to it, eyes darting to the microwave immediately. A grin of relieve breaks out of his face as he sees the numbers; 09:19. He can still make it.
Walking back as fast and as quietly as he can, Iocus makes his way back to his room, hurriedly throwing some clothes onto his body before grabbing his bag and leaving the house just as quietly as he walked before, not wanting to rouse the figure on the couch.
It isn’t until he closes the door behind him that he can forget all about being quiet as a foxy grin breaks out on his lips, humming starting up in his throat as he starts walking. He’s pretty sure his friend will comment on him not having showered, but he doesn’t mind that much. Besides, flustered equals cute.
-
Inanis huffs as he glances at the clock on his phone from where he’s leaning against a tree in a secluded part of the park, the digits hitting 10:04. Granted, he didn’t expect the other to be in time, but that doesn’t give him an excuse to be late.
“Inanis!” Comes a shout, making the male look up, eyes falling on a mob of short auburn hair and bright clothing in the colors orange, green and blue as the figure is running towards him.
“Honestly, can’t you be in time for once?” he scoffs lightly as the panting man comes to a stop in front of it before narrowing his eyes. “You stink.” He declares, taking a step away.
Iocus laughs, waving the comment off casually. “Doesn’t matter, soon enough we’ll both be stinky.” He grins at the other as he draws out his wooden sword, pointing it at the other. “En garde.” He says wit a playful wink.
Inanis huffs softly before a smile creeps on his glossed lips. “En garde indeed, my dearest.” He purrs lightly, taking his own wooden sword from its position against the tree, lightly tapping Iocus’s sword with it.
With just that one simple tap the battle commences, both of them striking and defending, trying not to get hurt while trying to hurt the other, albeit trying not to cause any serious injuries.
It isn’t until nearly an hour later when the two collapse under a tree next to each other, sweat on their skin and trying to catch their breath from all the jumping around they have done.
“Man, that was a good work out.” Iocus grins at Inanis once he is sure he can pant without being interrupted by shortness of breath again.
“It could have been worse.” Inanis replies to the remark, turning his eyes to the sky.

“Would be nice if we’d actually do it for a goal, though.” Iocus continues, heaving a sigh. “Seriously, isn’t there a dragon out there somewhere which can only be killed by a sword? You know? We can save the princess.” He grins at the other who snorts softly.
“A dragon slain by a sword will be unlikely to be slain by you, Iocus.” He comments, running a hand through his hair. “For I do believe that victory just now wasn’t yours.”
“Details, details.” Iocus pouts lightly, not removing his eyes from the other as Inanis doesn’t remove his eyes from the sky. “You have these games of people doing all those heroic deeds everywhere, you know? Why can’t it happen to us?” he wonders, finally tearing his eyes away as eyes the color of blood shift to him.
“I do believe we are not created out of zero’s, ones and pixels, do you?” Inanis questions, raising an eyebrow at his friend while sending him a look which obviously declares the other to be stupid.
Iocus merely laughs at the look, long since used to receiving it from the male next to him. “Still, still. You gotta admit it would be funny, right?” He grins at which Inanis can’t help but chuckle.
“Should I admit or should I not?” he muses lightly, turning his eyes back to the sky once more. “That seems to be the question, does it not?”
“Aw, keep acting all grown up, Inny!” Iocus exclaims, though he knows just how much the other is against that nick name. Inanis always comments on how it reminds him of internet more then anything else. “We’ve been talking about things like this since for ever.” He continues on, foxy grin finding it’s way back on his lips again.
“If my memory leave me right… I do believe you once offered to save me should I turn out to be the princess.” Inanis smirks lightly, closing his eyes as he just lets the sun hit his face, the after effects of the sparring match having left him completely, leaving time to relax.
“Hey, that offer still stands!” Iocus protests before hopping onto his feet without the use of his hands as he grabs his wooden weapon. “Alright, let’s go.”
This comment makes a pair of deep red eyes open slightly, if only to look at the other in question. “And where, pray tell, does the big bad dragon plan on kidnapping me to?” he questions, cocking his head to the side slightly.
“Well, princess!” Iocus pauses as his grin widens, face turning to his friend. “I’m going to take you for a ride guaranteed to make your body shake.”
-
It isn’t until Inanis finds himself standing in a crowded bus with people pressing against him with every movement the vehicle makes that he finally glances at his friend, sending him a flat look.
“Well,” Iocus starts as a pretty violent swerve comes while the bus takes a turn a tad too sharply “I did say it would make your body shake?”
Inanis keeps his eyes on the other a bit longer before raising a silver eyebrow. “Charmed.”

His eyes move past the other to the small bit of the window he can still see, what with all the people blocking it. Fortunately, or unfortunately as the ride will now take even longer, the bus stops in front of a red light making it easier for him to see the scenery going on outside.
He blinks slowly as his eyes land on a small girl and a mother, and not just any girl either; sandy blonde hair, a freckled nose and big brown eyes. She grins at her mother, a tooth missing from her mouth as becomes apparent. It’s the girl he dreamt about.
The mother smiles at the girl, putting a small paper back from the pharmacy into her handbag before taking the girl’s hand as they walk on again. Inanis watches the two for a bit before shaking his head. ‘It’s alright’ he tells himself ‘It was only a dream, it’s alright.’
Yet, he can’t avoid the similarities that happened here; the girl, the mother, the bag from the pharmacy which might contain a certain bottle of pills… Yet, it is not enough to convince him to jump out of the bus and warn the mother not to leave the pills out in plain sight.
“Oi, Inanis!”
He glances up at the call, a call way too loud for a small crowded place such as this and turns his eyes to his friend. “Hm?” He hums, snapping out of his musings.
“You alright?” Iocus asks, concern in his tone as he looks at the other through worried amethyst eyes.
“My head is still on my neck, is it not? And my heart still appears to be beating.” Comes Inanis’s reply, even though a simple ‘yes’ would have sufficed. If he would have answered his friend with a word that simple Iocus would have most likely started screaming for someone to call an ambulance because his friend was on the brink of dying.
“Yeah, but you were looking out of the window with this seriously out-of-it expression.” Iocus shrugs, still keeping his eyes on the other.
“I was doing something that you may not be familiar with…” Inanis murmurs, a slow smirk spreading over his glossed lips “Working my mass of gray.”
“Oh, ha ha. Veeeery funny.” Iocus pouts, holding onto one of the bars in the bus as it makes another rocky movement.
‘That’s strange,’ Inanis thinks to himself ‘I didn’t even notice we had started driving again.’
“I was just worried you would faint on me, that’s all.” Iocus shrugs. “You’re a princess after all, princesses are frail, right?” he follows up with one of his trademark grins.
Sometimes Inanis just really has the urge to smack him. “And you’re the big bad dragon… Makes me wonder why the air surrounding you does not heat up whenever you open your mouth.” Inanis comments lightly.
“Yeah, I’m just that hot, aren’t I?” Iocus laughs as the bus stops, letting some people out. “Next stop is ours, princess. Wanna push the button?”

Inanis rolls his eyes. “I always believed such things were only for the youngsters amongst us…” he muses “Makes me wonder if I were wrong.” Nevertheless, he reaches out and presses the red button almost directly in front of him, wondering faintly just where the other is taking him.
When the bus pulls to a stop, Iocus grabs his friend’s arm and nearly drags him through the crowd and out of the bus, onto the side walk where Inanis finally remembers what it is to breathe freely again.
“Man, that was wild.” Iocus laughs, hand lingering a bit before he lets go of the other’s arm.
“Yet it doesn’t seem like my body is shaking, am I right?” Inanis muses, stuffing one hand into the pocket of his jeans while running the other one through his hair.
“You know, Princess? They say that when a guy runs his hand through his hair he likes someone.” Iocus notes, his usual grin nearly splitting his face in to.
“Who knows…” Inanis muses vaguely, not bothering to either accept or reject the idea.
“Wait.” Iocus blinks “You mean that you might actually like someone!?” he cries out, not caring about the weird looks that seems to get them.
“Who knows…” Inanis muses once more before stuffing his second hand into his pocket as well. “Were we not going anywhere, Iocus?” He questions, eyes drifting to the other.
“Oh, eh… Yeah! You’re right! We’re going somewhere!” Iocus grins as the other before starting to walk off, a small bounce in his step as he does so, obviously exited about where they’re going.
Inanis raises an eyebrow before setting chase after the other, walking leisurely.
It doesn’t take long before Iocus stops in front of a store, weapons adorning the displays behind the big windows, mainly swords; real and fake.
Inanis blinks a few times. “If you’d have told me we’d come here I would have taken my wallet along.” He comment, a slight pout growing on his lips.
“If I’d told you, it wouldn’t have been a surprise anymore, now would it?” Iocus grins. “But guess what?”
“Whatever may it be?” Inanis questions.
“I!” Iocus’s grin widens as he strikes a strange pose in which he spreads his hand and points at the sky. “Have my paycheck in. So, for your birthday, which was two weeks ago, I’ll let you pick something out which I’ll pay for.”
Inanis blinks before a small smile spreads on his lips. “Alright. I guess I can do that much.”
“Thought so.” Iocus grins, stepping inside the store and holding the door open for Inanis who follows behind.
Immediately Inanis walks to the back, familiar enough with this store to know exactly what items he likes best. Naturally, the front has nice items as well; daggers, crossbows, axes, and the likes, but it is the swords decorating the walls at the back and the glass cases here and there that really grab his attention.

Iocus chuckles, watching Inanis’s red eyes dart from sword to sword. Honestly, he knows this will be the best place to take the other, well… this place or an occult shop, but since skulls and the likes personally creep him out he decided this would be the safer option. “Found one you liked yet?” he asks, moving closer to the other.
“That one.”
He glances at the sword his friend is pointing at. It’s obviously for decoration purposes, big with a curved hilt engraved with strange signs which continue even on the sword itself, the start of the hilt being surrounded by a row of skulls.
Wincing slight, he nods. Honestly, he just can’t get away from skulls when his friend is concerned. His eyes shift towards the price before widening slightly. Obviously Inanis hasn’t done that yet or he would never have requested the sword. “That thing is the price of two swords!” he cries out, shock lacing his words.
Inanis shifts his head to the side slightly, finally noticing the price before his eyes widen as well. “They serious? 320 for a single sword?” he asks, confused. “A real one would be understandable, but for a decoration sword it seems a bit…” he trails off.
“It’s a set of two.” Comes a voice behind them, making the two look back to see who has spoken.
A woman smiles at them, graying hair and kind looking brown eyes. “It’s a set of two.” She repeats, pointing at the sword Inanis wants so badly. “The second one is still in the box but it looks about the same, just without the skulls.”
“I see…” Inanis murmurs before glancing at Iocus. “You get the second one and I’ll pay you back half?” he suggests, eyes tracing back to the sword because damn he really wants it.
“Sure, no problem?” Iocus says a bit unsure, wondering just what the sword will have if not skulls. Maybe silver heads split open, what with the style the sword is in.
“Thank you.” Inanis smiles at him, which is enough for Iocus to be less unsure about his decision and to bring his grin back onto his face. He whirls back to the woman. “Lady! We’ll take them!”
“Alright.” She smiles, nodding. “I’ll grab the other one from the back.”
Inanis and Iocus glance back at the sword as the woman moves through the door at the back of the store.
“It sure looks creepy though.” Iocus murmurs, bending down slightly to get a closer look at the sword. “Those skulls look just like real ones even though they’re so small!”
“Obviously, that’s because they are.” Inanis shrugs making his friend look at him, startled. “They’re created from the skulls of unborn babies that were aborted. They just put silver paint over them so they’ll look a bit fake.”

“You’re kidding!” Iocus cries out, aghast.
“Yes I am.”
It takes a few moments and for the words to register through Iocus’s head. “What!? You were kidding!?”
“Hush now. We’re in the middle of the store.” Inanis shrugs, brushing his silver fringe out of his eyes as he looks around. Granted, except for the woman of before they are the only ones in the store, but that doesn’t mean it’s a common thing to randomly yell in the middle of a store.
“Hey, that’s your fault!” Iocus accuses, huffing angrily. “If you wouldn’t have made a joke like that I wouldn’t have yelled.”
“Granted, even if I wouldn’t have made a joke like that you would still have found an opportunity to yell.” Inanis smiles slightly, a mere lifting of the corners of his lips.
“Well, whatever.” A small pout grows on Iocus’s lips as he turns away from his friend, only to see the woman of before returning with a long box.
“Here it is.” She offers a smile to the two as she places the box down on the counter.
“Is it possible to see the second sword first?” Iocus asks, scratching the back of his head in a slightly awkward manner as he does so.
“Sure, no problem.” She nods, lifting the lid and showing the sword to the two.
It looks identical to the previous one, yet with silver dragon heads surrounding the hilt instead of the skulls the other showed.
“Sweet.” Iocus blinks, picking the sword up from the box and looking it over.
“Will you take them?” The woman asks at which Iocus nods, holding the dragon heads closer to his face before grinning. “Yeah!”
“I’ll remove the other from the glass case then.” The woman smiles before moving to the glass case where Inanis is still standing, looking at the sword. She opens the case and takes the sword out before moving back to the counter.
Seeing as the sword is no longer in the case, Inanis moves to the counter as well, joining Iocus there as the other hands the sword back to the woman who puts both swords into the box.
“That will be 320 please.” She smiles at Iocus who nods and pulls out his wallet, taking out his card. Granted, even for two swords it is still a fairly high price, but to make up for that, the detail is remarkable and Inanis seemed to want the skull one quite badly, so… it’s not such a bad investment after all in Iocus’ eyes.
Once the payment is done, the woman puts the simple white box into a big bag before placing it on the counter where Inanis takes it from. “Thank you.” He nods at her before smiling that faint smile at Iocus again “And you.”

“Come again.” The woman smiles as she watches the two leave the store together. A few moments later, not even a full minute, the sign that says ‘OPEN’ is turned around to ‘CLOSED’ as the lights go out and the paper usually in the corner of one of the windows is hung back up again.
Closed it says Sunday and Monday
-
“And that’s 160.” Inanis says, handing several bills over to Iocus who grins and takes them.
“Thanks!”
“Not a problem. However, I have yet to find out exactly why you insisted on doing this in an alley?” Inanis questions.
“Because… if we act shady enough, cops will think we’re doing a drugs deal.” Iocus snickers, making Inanis roll his eyes.
“Honestly.” Inanis mutters, shaking his head lightly.
“Besides, do you really want to do it in public? Hand me money?”
“Hardly, but we could’ve done it at home.” Inanis shrugs lightly, adjusting his grip on the plastic bag which is biting into his hands.
“Eh… I guess that’s true as well.” Iocus scratches his cheek lightly before shrugging “Oh well, what’s done is done, right?” he grins at the other who chuckles and nods lightly.
“Let’s get going then?” Inanis suggests “Unless it was your plan to spend even more money on me?” he teases lightly, leaning towards Iocus who huffs.
“No way, I spend enough on you on a monthly basis.”
“As you should.” Inanis hums lightly, leaning back again and straightening up.
“You know, you can just take on a job or something and like… have your own money.” Iocus huffs.
Inanis blinks slowly, cocking his head to the side as he raises an eyebrow at the other like Iocus is the biggest idiot he has ever laid eyes on. “Me? Working? Now where’s the fun in that?”
“Oh come on~” Iocus whines, shoving his hands into the pockets of his bomber jack as he balances onto the balls of his heels. “You can’t keep making me pay for things, right?”
“Oh, I can and I will.” Inanis shrugs lightly, a faint smile playing on his lips, amusement clear in his eyes.
“You’re not serious!?” Iocus exclaims, eyes widening ever so slightly. “You already mooch off of the government, why mooch off of me as well!?”
“Why not?” Is the ever so simple reply.
“Eh… It’s my money?”

“Which you like spending on me. See? We both win here.” Inanis shrugs as he starts moving out of the dirty alley, being careful not to step on the garbage which fell out of the fallen garbage can near the beginning.
“Hey! No I don’t!” Iocus objects, jumping over the can instead of taking the effort to walk around it as he follows his friend, even though he knows quite well that yes, he does like spending money on his beautiful friend.
“What bus are we taking home?” Inanis asks, changing the subject, already bored with the old one.
“152, why?”
Inanis doesn’t say anything, merely points to the right where the bus 152 can be seen waiting in front of a traffic light while the bus stop is at the other side of the street, a mere minute walk away from their current position.
“…Oh crap.” Iocus mutters after a brief pause before starting to run, Inanis chuckling as he jogs behind the other. He’s pretty sure Iocus will keep the bus waiting for a few seconds, so why waste too much energy to stay at the same speed as him?
They barely make it to the other side of the street when the light hits green and the bus starts to drive after two cars in front of it have driven off from its way, and the driver is quite amused to see an auburn haired guy wave at him franticly while running towards the bus stop as he passes him, amused to actually wait a few seconds for the panting youth who holds up a bus card.
“T-Two pe-people. “ Iocus pants out, placing the card down for the driver to stamp.
“Two?” The driver asks, raising a confused eyebrow at the other.
“Two.” Inanis confirms, stepping in behind Iocus calmly, not quite as out of breath as his friend who is still trying to even out his breathing.
The driver nods before stamping the card for them before the doors close and the bus starts moving.
Iocus and Inanis find themselves a seat at the back of the bus, Iocus plopping down next to the window, Inanis next to the aisle.
“You okay?” Inanis asks amusedly at Iocus who is still catching his breath.
Inanis groans, placing his head against the back of the chair in front of him. “N-Not funny…” he mumbles, huffing softly, finally managing to get his breathing in control.
“Oh, but it is. Quite amusing indeed.” Inanis chuckles, sitting back casually, the bag poised in between his legs.
“Next time you run.” Iocus mumbles, closing his eyes briefly.
“Ah, but we both know that you’re the fastest out of the two of us, right? And besides, I was holding the bag which would have slowed me down even more.” Inanis points out at which Iocus merely pouts.
