I have never been to a protest myself. However, your cause seems pure and I hope that it goes well. Good luck to you!

I've never been in a protest myself. I learned at a very young age how to work the system, since both of my parents were involved in politics.

I have been trapped by protests before, though. The last time was at the last DNC in Denver. My dad and I decided to go wander in a park where there was a bunch of venders peddling democrat merchandise of various sorts, while my mom sat in the car in a semi-legal parking spot. When we were almost finished wandering the park, out of nowhere, a whole hoard of anarchists suddenly came streaming into the park. We got out of there as quick as we could, but we didn't make it back to the car before the street was barricaded off, with our car on the wrong side. It took a little while to convince the cops that they wanted to remove one bike so we could escape. We did get to see the cops arrest a couple of protesters for refusing to stay out of the street (where they were not supposed to be and were told so, loudly, several times).
